From France: With steak frites they will always ask you what sauce to go with it, roquefort, fresh peppercorns or mushroom basically - and tapenade is served with fresh baguette or toasts made of, and couldn’t see the texture but it’s always a thick paste. But looks delicious and otherwise served as over here! The frites look better than most french restaurants, as for some reason mostly limp (at times even undercooked) and not crispy on the outside over here…something I do tend to let them know as it’s so often great apart from! The croque monsieur looks absolutely spot on! And salads on the side have now improved, but here very authentic!
As a french, I gotta say your meals looks really authentic, there's a proper chef out there ! But what also strikes me is that some of the meals seem very expensive compared to where I live, a croque-monsieur is a kind of cheap snack in France, it would cost around 3 to 5€ in a backery (with a quality depending on the backery), and arond 8 to 12€ in a restaurant.
Jessi: You need a change (puts on beret) Alessio: *Why do I hear boss music?* *HE SAID IT, HE SAID FRENCH IS GOOD!* So Provençal on the menu at 2:20 refers to the region of Provence, which is the southeastern part of France aka Marseille and the French Riviera. Tapenade is specifically a staple of Provençal cuisine. I know you may think the steak frites especially looks Americanized but it's not, that's how it's eaten in Belgium and France. It looks legit, the classic « brasserie » meal (a type of café that also serves simple food such as croque monsieur, salads, sandwiches, and so…) why don’t you take him to France directly? But no beret this time pls! Unless he wants to look like a tourist or an old guy from the south ouest…lol

Amore. please do not keep hard feeling to French.. we all love Italian People and your beautiful country....love from reunion island.. come anytime to visit us
That's what's great about being American I have French heritage along with a few other cultures it's great to be proud of so many different things Vive La France
- The tapenade is traditional dish from Provence (South east of France), it is mashed olives (green or black) add olive oil with capers. - About the "frites" (French fries), full name is "pomme de terres frites" (ground apple fried/ potatoes fried). You can say "pomme frite" or juste "frites". - The "croque monsieur" was only "croque", but at the restaurant the waiter will ask you "a croque, mister ?" (remove the coma) and it become "Un croque monsieur ?" For every French dish, there is a specific recipe. Too often, people want to change part of the recipe or one of the ingredients in the recipe. You should NOT do that, if a recipe uses butter, then use butter, not margarine! I remember ordering a tarte Tatin in a restaurant in the United States. It's an apple tart, but cooked upside down, I asked for a scoop of vanilla ice cream and a little whipped cream to go with it. I was so eager to taste a little bit of my country's gastronomy, I was salivating in advance. The waitress brought me the tart, magnificent, caramelized as desired. I took a bite and there... the only flavor I could taste was cinnamon. There is no cinnamon in a tarte Tatin because it hides all the taste of warm caramelized apple. Huge disappointment, you expect a very specific taste and texture, you have the texture, but the taste is completely different. You can have the same impression, if you order eggs at the beacon but when you taste, the beacon tastes like broccoli. In France, we don't really wear the beret anymore since the 40s-50s. BUT mademoiselle is ravishing (and not "ridiculous") when she wears her beret.
Yes, but come on man, who has a Croque Monsieur for the plat principal? That is weird. Also if I went into a restaurant in France and this was what was being served, I'd be like....so this is what the tourists get served in Paris. The really good French cuisine is innovative, varied, and much more sophisticated than these old clichés.
In Italy, that was the cap of peasants and metal workers, but the size was smaller. It has not been commonly used since the 1950s, but some old people wore it until 1970.
@@DJ-hf3qq croque monsieur was created like a fast food before going to the theater. It is the main dish, like you would eat a sandwich or a burger. Yes a croque monsieur is only this and yes it can be bad at a lot of places. Sometimes they use traditional bread because it doesn't impress tourists but if you go to any french homes, they will do it with squared bread. The plating may be a bit lacking but it's just a sandwich and salad (often a lot to fill the plate).

Thx that was funny and wholesome! About the croque monsieur it is what you can eat at Paris and anywhere but that's more of a bistro's croque monsieur. About the steack it was great and the reaction of the hubby showed it all ^^
As an American with French ancestry/family and no Italian whatsoever (though I love the food and culture), why is anything French so hated by Italians? I clearly missed something…I really think both are beautiful!
GIOCONDA. Napoleon who stripped museums and gave orders to plunder masterpieces. the arrogance and superiority they demonstrate for no reason. If you think about it, if there were no foreign masterpieces - including Egypt - the Louvre would be half empty.
Two things: - French don’t wear beret anymore. - Yeah you can find thar food (that looked good) in France, but I wouldn’t say it was the best example of French food. It’s like I was saying that Italian cuisine is just about pasta and pizza. Well ok wrong example, but you see what I mean. 😂 More seriously great video.
As a French From "l'Indre", I love and all my friends love Italian food ! I go to Italian restaurent like "Del Arte" and "Jardin d'Italie(Italia's Garden)" every occasion. Even my parents was in Roma and Venise in their wedding anniversaries. Why is it so hard to like our cuisine ? Why do you hate us ? ;^;
Probably because italians have inferiority complex towards french and they are jealous about the Italian cuisine as is more popular than the french one. Indeed, I see the french people are more open about italian food than the opposite. C'est pas mon cas, car j'adore la cuisine francaise
French but expatriated in Denmark 21 years ago, it looks okay, but might be an American version of the food. The classical steak frite. Thanks to your wife to make it a little bit more French ! I love it !❤❤❤❤ So funny to see his reaction during the video. By the way my father was Italian 😊

Take a bite of the croque with a bit of vinegary salad...YUM!!! I think it looks French, however, there is no vinaigrette on the salad and the radishes should be long and skinny and served whole (with a bit of the little green stems still attached) and dipped in salt.

But no beret this time pls! Unless he wants to look like a tourist or an old guy from the south ouest…lol
I would love if you can make a series where we can learn basic Italian from Alessio!
Croque Madame is where it's at...gotta have that egg and bechemel in there!
It is looking good.. but to be honest italian are also very good ... as a French guy.. I can say that italian and French cuisine are at the same level. Amore. please do not keep hard feeling to French.. we all love Italian People and your beautiful country....love from reunion island.. come anytime to visit us
you right! French cousin it is very good same level.❤️
keep up the content you two are fantastic
That's what's great about being American I have French heritage along with a few other cultures it's great to be proud of so many different things Vive La France
Looks like an amazing meal!!
It was!
Betcha he's thinking behind that smile, "Just you wait amore, just you wait."😃
Alessio is home! 🇨🇵
Mother France welcomes you back! 🇨🇵 ♥️ 🇨🇵 ♥️ 🇨🇵 ♥️ 🇨🇵
- The "croque monsieur" was only "croque", but at the restaurant the waiter will ask you "a croque, mister ?" (remove the coma) and it become "Un croque monsieur ?"
For every French dish, there is a specific recipe.
😂😂😂😂😂😂 you guys are just too funny and sweet. And Italian and French people are so dramatic 😂😂😂 but also lovely ❤
I literally cannot get enough of his chapeau! More please! How about it making a cameo in every video? Vive Le France!
LMAO The thumbnail looks so hilarious. 🤭🤣
Jessi cracks me up because no matter the culture when the wife really wants you to do something you put your tail between your legs and go along lol You guys are awesome!
Alessio must’ve felt right at home!
I get so much life everytime I watch you two. Thanks for trying French food although I've been to France and still prefer Italian since I've been to Italy six times. An admirer from NYC. Ciaio.
How many times have you been to France? Not many it would appear.
I absolutely love your new videos. Keep it going! Much love from England! X
Thank you! Will do!
Thx that was funny and wholesome! About the croque monsieur it is what you can eat at Paris and anywhere but that's more of a bistro's croque monsieur. About the steack it was great and the reaction of the hubby showed it all ^^
Alessio' s facial expressions are hilarious, u both are so cute 🥰
As an American with French ancestry/family and no Italian whatsoever (though I love the food and culture), why is anything French so hated by Italians? I clearly missed something…I really think both are beautiful!
GIOCONDA.
Napoleon who stripped museums and gave orders to plunder masterpieces. the arrogance and superiority they demonstrate for no reason. If you think about it, if there were no foreign masterpieces - including Egypt - the Louvre would be half empty.
Historically the French always mistreated the Italians ,even though deep down they secretly admired their culture,
@@fiorellafenati5395 So nothing but old stories and clichés ?
Two things:
- French don’t wear beret anymore.
- Yeah you can find thar food (that
looked good) in France, but I wouldn’t say it was the best example of French food.
It’s like I was saying that Italian cuisine is just about pasta and pizza. Well ok wrong example, but you see what I mean. 😂
More seriously great
video.
As a French From "l'Indre", I love and all my friends love Italian food ! I go to Italian restaurent like "Del Arte" and "Jardin d'Italie(Italia's Garden)" every occasion. Even my parents was in Roma and Venise in their wedding anniversaries. Why is it so hard to like our cuisine ? Why do you hate us ? ;^;
I always wonder that too.
He doesn't hate the French. It's a rivalry, like between siblings.
Jessi's playing with fire 🤣. I think secretly loves it though. Vive la France 🤣
This was lovely 🌹
I want a love like this, my boyfriend I had, I terminated the position that he carried. I'm disabled and him pushing me down because he was being childish to me is not ok. No one should go through this, so, if you are being done this way, even if you are afraid to be alone, don't, it isn't worth it. Your love and safety are so much more important to someone that really matters.
I just remember the old saying, 'Italians invented cuisine while the French were still eating each other'. Crazy.
It's looking good!!! French food is delicious!!! I'm Italian and love Italian food but the French food is really good as well in a different way......I have had French food from France.......❤️
God love italians and french reviewing each others food, the rest of the western world love the food you both both prodice.
You are such a lucky man, she is really such an extraordinary woman. Her laughter woow
The French joking was fun to watch. Love the beret.
Berets are from the Basque region of France. In Paris, Berets are not commonly worn.
I love the faces makes!!
Take him to a provencal restaurant, that's basically Italian food with a bit more garlic and a lot of booze.
Too cute I love his humor and the love y'all share 🥰🥰🥰
How grudgingly he admitted it was amazing…like if he said it too loud, he’d self-combust! 😂 loved the honest reviews of the French food ❤
i thought he was French-italian anyways, but he identifies more with italian which allows him to complain about everything. 😂
Europeans are fond of complaining in general.
I love that you both share plenty of your food. Not just a tiny bite size for the other.
Wait a minute...who is wearing Alessio's barrette at 5:46? You both make me laugh so hard!!!
Girl I love your sweater! Wear did you get it? I think you looked good with the beret on. His steak was cooked just like I like it. 👍
*This* was the best video (imo) so far. Definitely for the fans and y'all didn't disappoint 🤣🌹🙏.
Thank you 💕.
French here, it looks like an honest simple french brasserie (not restaurant).
Anyway, I am proud our italian cousin likes it. We both share passion for quality ingredientsand amazing recipies (even though french food is still better ^^)
My mom used to make me wear berets in the 70s/80s. I’d “lose” them. Which is to SAY? I sailed them like frisbees into snowbanks.
This brings me so much joy. Getting him in tune with his french side. 🇨🇵
Jessy is so beautiful and her smile is contagious
You two are such a great open couple. I wish you health and luck ❤
Jessi looks adorable with the beret!
Poor Guy!! We feel for ya man.
Thank you our so much for sharing....I really do appreciate it
Bonjour, Hello, as You have your starter 'la tapenade' with a bread like focaccia non e vero? , it 's like Italien 'Pesto' or Pistou in french, this one is mixed with more vegetables, but The base is olive and olive oil...also italian Roots...
From Provence origin's with The town call 'Nice' former 'italian City Nizza' 😉
😂
Did you move to NYC permanently? The NYC content has been SO GOOD
Grazie mIlle! see you Saturday for new video
Take a bite of the croque with a bit of vinegary salad...YUM!!! I think it looks French, however, there is no vinaigrette on the salad and the radishes should be long and skinny and served whole (with a bit of the little green stems still attached) and dipped in salt.
Hi both of u! I love ur videos. I'm french and don't understand why he dosen't like french. I love italian food! In my opinion italian and french food are the best european food so far! Keep doin what u do mate! Bon appétit les amis!
I'm not French but lived there for over a year. Steak frites is quintessential French, as is croque monsieur, and I love them both. I also love tapenade, which is from Provence in the south of France. This makes me want to go back!!
