Jumping whilst manualing means you're spending less time balancing so it deteriorates slower. No need for flip tricks, that's probably just muscle memory taking over.
I got Philly / Bullring / Skate heaven left for this, this achiev wasnt that horrible, the only ones that took some grinding to hit for me where school 2 / downhill jam (had to use double lap route otherwise the grind never registered on halfpipe) / mall. Apperently the roswell one is nerfed in a patch, all in all this achiev is doable if you learn to master the game a bit, what helped me most funny enough was buttslap ollies or whatever it's called to clear some weird gaps where correct speed was hard
It's really hard. Get speed by doing the wallhops into acid drop trick and make sure your special is full. The trick is then to boneless as close to the top of the quarter pipe as you can and then once you're about half way over the gap, if you're high enough in the air, you can acid drop and it will kind of automatically put you over the gap. If it's really tight, sometimes the gap wont register, though. Also, you can kind of buffer the up-up input for the boneless as soon as you get on to the quarter pipe and then let go of the jump button at the very top of it. That way you don't have to time it or push it super fast. I am no where near good at it, but that's worked best for me. Good luck!
I did the first one on warehouse earlier after like 10-15 mins of trying then had about 10-15 tries at the school one and just thought “nah this ain’t worth the stress”. I find it very difficult to steer while manualing to even reach those plants at the right angle & even if I made that I’d collide with something to knock me out the manual or just bail. I respect the insane amount of skill to do these but it is kinda annoying they just allowed like 0.5% of the playerbase to get the platinum lol.
people today are so used to being able to unlock everything in the games they play. old school games were different in the sense that it was way more normal to not being able to unlock everything. this makes these hard to get achievements more valuable. it also resonates with the skater mentality of falling, getting up and retrying until you make it.
Mark Smeagel Yer true, I just think there’s a small group of people who are almost ‘naturally’ insane at the game and everyone else has no chance of getting anywhere near that level even with lots of practice. Like I dunno if its significantly easier on PC but I watched a guy hit a 1million combo on chopper drop.... that just aint normal lol.
@@calum769 its funny because when I started playing this game. I hadn't played a tony hawk game in over a decade. I was so out of it and so bad at it that when I looked at videos of people doing insane combos I really did feel like that was a level I wasn't going to get at. Like the speed at which these guys precisely timed pushing buttons and flicking the thumb stick and compared it to how it felt when I had to do it I truly felt like it wasn't going to happen. I had to watch Jskeletons tutorial videos to get back into it and I still sucked after watching those. But the more I played the more the techniques got ingrained into my muscle memory to a point where I didn't have to think about it anymore and could focus on adding more techniques to my run. I still can't get close to that 10 mil combo but I am doing the hard get there challanges right now. and I'll get that 10 mil some day. I play on a pc with 100+ fps at all times which is so much better than console, but I do use a controller. I tried keyboard but I just can't. might be more precise but its more fun playing this game with a controller imo.
@@marksmeagel888 I don't entirely agree. Older games were certainly harder in their core gameplay, but the concept of having "extra" challenges that are particularly difficult is a relatively recent one (in the old days people would set these challenges for themselves).
Practice manualling from a dead stop in free skate. Once manualling, hit square or triangle to rip off tricks. You’ll get used to the meter. Little taps back and forth as opposed to always pressing up or down is key. The higher the combo & the more it swings towards the edges, the tad longer you’ll need to press the other way. Also, D pad is a must for it. I tried thumbstick-it’s way to easy to accidentally go left or right a tad. Good luck, hope this helps. It’s how I got my 25 trick ground combo challenge completed. After doing this for an hour, I’m at least 3 times better on course now.
Try spamming the transfer button as soon as you hit the boneless off the ramp. I was stuck for an hour before seeing that tip. Had the challenge done 5 mins after
@@blanket444 this worked! Thanks heaps. It's like once you hit the boneless about halfway over the gap if you keep spamming it it'll give you that extra distance. Thanks so much! :)
You make that shit look easy ... I'm not even gonna try to do these I'm gonna focus on getting max stats for every skater & unlocking Jack black I already unlocked the Roswell Alien
Mine hardest were mall (about 600-700 attempts), Venice (about 1000), bullring about 200 and downhill jam (I did it in a day maybe, but it is awful level, I hate it, that’s why challenge was tricky). After Venice beach (about 3 months of attempts), all other levels were easy I did it, I thought it is impossible for me If I can, you can do it too
5:33 Tried to get the one in Roswell for almost 2 hours now... how do you Boneless after you leave the QP? (double-ollie out gets you the distance, but gap won't register for some odd reason)
I give up on Bullring. For whatever reason I just never have the manual speed to get the ramp for Nailin' the Rail. I'm 100% stats and I'm holding X when going into the manual
Ok I now got it lol. Had to re-grind the banana to keep the speed up but finally got it. Started attempting this challenge two fucking days ago. Skate Heaven to go.

Hi. What should we press to grind with different trick without jumping first? I always try re-press the grind button and the d-pad arrows like THPS4 but I never managed to do it here.
Ryan Hoenn It’s not that difficult but it’s definitely tricky. I suggest you wall plant from any of the invisible walls parallel to the deck, then Acid drop into the half pipe but REAL LATE and then boneless across. The wall plant and the acid drop builds you tons of speed. If you need any help, hit me up.
It took me about 200 times to figure out how to do it. The high deck is rediculously hard. Boneless early on the wall plant jump, and boneless late oit of the deck jump. Make sure you aren't over the two ramps on the deck, cause it won't work. Hit the Acid Drop button when you are over the middle of the deck. And once in a while you will get the actually get it. Once you can get the gap regularly the rest of it is easy.

@@marksmeagel888 agreed. The harder the plat the more rewarding for this game
Thanks so much bro! Did them all in about 3 hours. Subscribed!
Thank god skate heaven doesn’t include the feed me gap
This doesn't look much easier, but yeah. Glad it's not there. lol
great video, nice work lad
Thanks!
Thank you so very VERY much for the Bullring Hard Get There
Wait these have to be done in one combo :o
I want to understand hot to do manual while landing from high jump in ram ?
Coming down a ramp Revert then manual
R2, up down
Rail killer is pissing me off ughh I hate those three rails
Eric Villarreal Yeah, me too, man. I’m in my 7th hour straight trying it.
Thank u. Will try it when I have finished 2
The remastered both 1 and 2 are great
How can you keep your balance like that... :(
Practice manualling from a dead stop in free skate.
@@senseisprotege3632 Thanks man! I appreciate your answer!
K G No problem, hope it helps 🤞🏼
i just started playing again, and can get through all challenges and gaps pretty easy, but theres always 1 or 2 gaps i come up short on ..grrrrrrrrr
The Roswell gap actually made me physically sick. Never had that from a game before. Anyone want to shareplay this get there for me?
It’s not too bad once you get the timing down for the first big gap. Don’t give up
Try spamming the transfer button as soon as you hit the boneless off the ramp. I was stuck for an hour before seeing that tip. Had the challenge done 5 mins after
@@blanket444 this worked! Thanks heaps. It's like once you hit the boneless about halfway over the gap if you keep spamming it it'll give you that extra distance. Thanks so much! :)
U made skatestreet look insane lol
Venice doesn't seem to be working for me...
No way there is no way. This has to be one of the hardest platinum run I picked. Why
The Rosewell & Bullring irritated me for hours
You make that shit look easy ... I'm not even gonna try to do these I'm gonna focus on getting max stats for every skater & unlocking Jack black I already unlocked the Roswell Alien
The roswell gap is just ridiculous I've tried 1000x
Mine hardest were mall (about 600-700 attempts), Venice (about 1000), bullring about 200 and downhill jam (I did it in a day maybe, but it is awful level, I hate it, that’s why challenge was tricky).
After Venice beach (about 3 months of attempts), all other levels were easy
I did it, I thought it is impossible for me
If I can, you can do it too
I can't do a bunch of these mainly cause my manual is trash. No matter what I do I can't keep speed, turn and travel long distance
5:33 Tried to get the one in Roswell for almost 2 hours now... how do you Boneless after you leave the QP? (double-ollie out gets you the distance, but gap won't register for some odd reason)
The warehouse isn't working for some reason or the school
I give up on Bullring. For whatever reason I just never have the manual speed to get the ramp for Nailin' the Rail. I'm 100% stats and I'm holding X when going into the manual
Ok I now got it lol. Had to re-grind the banana to keep the speed up but finally got it. Started attempting this challenge two fucking days ago. Skate Heaven to go.
Glad to hear you ended up getting it!👊🏻
@@JSkeleton yeah it was horrible. By far the worst one for me. Spent a lot of time on mall and school 2 but just couldn't get the execution. But for Bullring I honestly thought it wasn't possible. Glad I got it.
I got Warehouse and School I don’t think i will ever get Mall. I am an analog stick user and can’t get used to using the D-pad.
Keep at it, you'll get it! I use the stick also (which people roast me for since D-Pad is the OG and only way we played back in the day, but I got used to stick with THUG1&2 and THAW).
@@JSkeleton finally got it🙏 thanks bro. On to Skate Park now haha. Doesn’t seem as hard as Mall. And yeah i started with THPS3 when i was younger and used the analog stick. I don’t think i could ever get used to the D-pad lol.
only have Bullring left just here to vent bc im going crazy....
They made this game so hard to platinum.
Before it came out I thought for sure I would.
But then I saw the trophy list...
Its better off for it. Too many games these days have way too easy of platinum
@@ryanlachance4793 Although I do agree. For instance, Last of Us 2 was far too easy to platinum. I think there's lines between too easy / just right and / too tedious.
For me this game goes a little far into the too tedious side.
Hi. What should we press to grind with different trick without jumping first? I always try re-press the grind button and the d-pad arrows like THPS4 but I never managed to do it here.
Wtf Roswell. Holy shit I can’t even get the first part down.
I play with no bail on cause every time I do a trick I bail I want the skate series back 😭
Do we need to do all these combos ?! Wtf is this worse than the gap master trophy or easier ?
Dude you are insane at this, how to you keep so much momentum? I find myself slowing down after reverting > manual when coming down from grabs
If you Ollie sometimes it helps, or grind between manuals.
The trick to this is : Before you land and start with Manual. Keep holding down the ollie button, you’ll have insane speed with the manual
^ this, I was wondering why sometimes I have great speed and other times very little. It makes all the difference
Can someone please tell me the best way to do the 2 special 4 me challenge
It looks like he is making this up as he speaks until he does the thing and the challenge complete banner appears lol
Hello great skills you pocess. I m stuck in Marseille box to box (on box 2 i Try to manual but i keep on Sliding the box or i jump on top After landing and it stop my combo) i should i process?
Why do i feel like I have less momentum and speed and i feel like im doing it exactly the same?
You're the man! This is the last trophy that I need other than reaching level 100, and apparently I'd already knocked four of them out during my playthrough of the story.
Glad I could help! Level 100 is a grind, man! Haha
Press X to doubt.
@@CardHandlers K. One was Chopper Drop, the other two were Hangar & Warehouse, and the fourth was actually just a regular get-there. Those three hard get-theres aren't even difficult or crazy whatsoever.
How am i supposed to balance the wire at the end of the Philadelphia gap? By the time im half way up the meter moves so fast it seems impossible. Any tips?
can i do this with "Tony Hawk's" skater or have to be a created skater?
How you have speed in manual? When i do a manual i Lost speed
The mall was a complete bastard!
Omfg school 2 is absolutly downright sadistic
Whoever programed that never experienced love as a child
