- I was exploring northern Spain and visited an abandoned village up in the mountains towards France when I found one of the houses actually still had someone living inside despite all the buildings surrounding it having collapsed years ago.

Hi John,
I have to say that these last half a dozen episodes or so have been off the charts Sir, thank you very much!
These are so inspirational for me, really makes me want to go on fabulous adventures in my Defender.
Kind regards
Tony
Glad you like them!
I just love looking around old villages as well, just to see how the other half used to live. The scenery was amazing as usual John. Take care and stay safe xxPat
I’ve driven this road in an open top car. Nearly run of the road a few times as the road and views were fantastic. Bought back great memories. Defiantly Epic.
Hi John, we were in that area in April. I remember the raw beauty and the sections of ‘Normal’ road between the M way sections giving the suspension on out motorhome a bit of a workout. Found an excellent bakery in a village before moving onwards. Thanks for a great video that brought back some welcome memories. Mike
Brilliant one John. That village was a fabulous place to explore. So many amazing places to stop off and take in the views. Great filming. Although Forget to mention on your last one. That definitely took a lot of filming. Hats off to you. Keep Loving the Adventure Bud 👍
Nice one John. It’s so sad how a village has to die to provide others with water but that happens everywhere including here in the UK. Quite remarkable how some families are still able to make a living there. The roads do look amazing to drive as well.
That abandoned village was EPIC 😂
Great Camera! Picked one up last month (still available new on Amazon) and I love it. I'd say better than my past Nikons. So versatile. Great videos too by the way :-)
Hi John, my 14 year old grandson asked " what's 20 to 30 clicks " I told him it's what the American film industry use in old war films, then I told him it's Kilometres, and he said " why didn't he say kilometres, at that point I gave up.
The Europeans love their kilometres so you just get used to it. 😎
I love taking the backroads if im not in a rush. I did a recent trip over the north york moors to vist a friend and wasnt sure i was still in Yorkshire at one point! Crazy to think they would just leave a town behind, but great place to explore!
Very interesting John. I think there was a TV program about abandoned places that told the history of the place. Prefer your shots of it though. No talking heads apart from yours. Which was the right amount for me. Keep up with the good work.😮
That was fascinating John, the views were breathtaking and the abandoned village was amazing 🥰
Wow, much more interesting than an abandoned miners camp in the US!
Another great video with stunning footage of the wonderful scenery. Very interesting to see around the abandoned village. I always love watching videos of abandoned and derelict buildings, many thanks for walking through the heat and scratchy bushes etc., to film all of it 👍. John, I appreciate that you are probably very much aware of all this, but when I was having cancer treatment, I also saw far too many people having treatment for skin cancer (some quite disfiguring 😢).......so please be mindful and take extra extra care in the sun and keep lathering on the factor 50 etc., in order to avoid your skin getting burnt and having problems in years from now.
I don’t spend long in the sun, and if I can I’ll go out very early or very late in the day. 👍🏻
The landscape is beautiful.
An excellent video once again John. I love the juxtaposition of the rather ancient electric cable alongside the modern ducting. Maybe you could have ridden to the village on your e-bike...
Hi John, great footage, would be really interested to hear some place names/regions filmed as you travel through please
What a brilliant video! Thank you, John.
Very interesting thank you , looks like 3 phase and neutral going in there . Reminds me of the village abandoned Capel Celyn located near the Afon Tryweryn Valley in Wales . When we had a drought they were able to go back and look , seems sad to me when something is abandoned very well done good luck John 👍👍👍🏴🇬🇧🇨🇦
Driving to Malos de Rigalos, a perfect climbing area, nice camp site to. Driving on into the mountains is cool out there. Nice drive John.
I absolutely loved the village , the Tv noise would have completely spooked me . Looking forward to your adventures back in the UK . Lots of sun cream please John , you need to take care x
That village was on Abandoned Engineering a few weeks ago. The people left when the reservoir took away their farmland. good coverage John, thanks.
0:39 This song came to mind....
I've been through the desert on a horse with no name
It felt good to be out of the rain
In the desert you can't remember your name
'Cause there ain't no one for to give you no pain
La la la la la la...
Thanks John! 😁 Interesting exploration.
In one word, Amazing !!
I loved this video. I was on the edge of my seat while you were in that “ abandoned “ village. I am glad that you went out of your way to experience that. The scenery did remind me of the western part of the USA. Lots of stone mountains and spires and emptiness. Take care of your sunburn and have a safe trip back to England. See you back home.
Really nice place you visit, enjoyed today's video. That heat would kill me I think you need Aircon. Thx for the adventure John. Looking forward to the next one
I have a/c in the cab when I’m driving 👍🏻 in the back I have a great setup that keeps me cool.
Another super place. If your coming home through Southern France, try Gorge Du Verdon
Wow - amazing how different the landscape and climate is in that part of Spain. The mountain village looked like something out of a spaghetti western. Would have been fascinating to know why just one house was still occupied in such a long abandoned village.
Where are you planning to head next - further south into the heat, or north to find some cooler weather. Either way, am looking forward to your next upload... 👍
There's a hint of my next travel direction at the end of this video 👍🏻
Seriously I suspect it would have scared the @#€l out of me totally unexpected realizing someone is living there 🤣 really love the French/Spanish tour John!
Thanks for this one John. My kind of travel - nothing like a bimble round unfamiliar territory and the remarkable things that serendipity brings to you. I really felt a deep pathos as you toured the abandoned village, just imagining the efforts made to build it in the first place, and the lives led there over what must have been centuries. Beautifully conveyed.
Glad you enjoyed it
Exactly what I told my satnav through Spain and Portugal last year, there’s so much people miss!
Hari OM
I am totally with you on driving the back roads, John and discovering little places like that village all add to the adventure. Really enjoyed this visit with you - and the videography along the way! YAM xx
The views are epic. This was the correct use of the word.
Well done again young John, who would want the coast all the time when there are views and places like this to explore thank you for going where most of us will never go or see❤
Wow what an interesting place. Defo wetting the appetite to make the effort to head that way (when it's cooler!)
Hi John Thanks for sharing your travel videos and seeing the places you visit
It’s nice to see that you are now enjoying what you are doing Keep it up mate and keep enjoying your journey
Wow 😍👍 and wow 😍👍 never seen this place before, nice one John 👏 ... 😘🤗❤👵🐾🐾🐾🤠 xxxx
Glad you enjoyed it
Wow. Looks like it was either abandoned hundreds of years ago or something else has happened to get it into such a ruined state. Amazing place to explore! Thank you for sharing. 😃
That was really interesting, thanks John. I would love to explore this area, only need my husband to retire now! 🤣
That did remind me of California, Arizona, and Utah. Thanks for taking us along.
Impressive camera I like a camera with a view finder . The view was amazing.
Its sad to see the abandoned village. Nr my cuz in France, there is an abandoed village, that was taken over by germans, during ww2. There where old sewing machines & tools scattered about it was really sad but i was glad i saw it.
John, thanks for taking us on this epic journey through beautiful scenery and this interesting abandoned village. You are brave!
The last few vids have been amazing loving the northern Spain vids
What’s the name of the village and exactly where is it?
John another fantastic vlog, epic scenery
Love the video John. Thanks for sharing. Really enjoy the travel videos, seeing the new places you visit. Your a very lucky man.
That abandoned village was awesome, also grt scenery aswell
Oooo that sunburn looked sore 🥵
I enjoyed that John. Interesting. 👍🏻😊
Thank you for a brilliant vlog as usual
@andywilman are you watching?
Another great vid John! Just wished I had your Tech brain mate🤓👌👍
Really enjoyed that John
Very interesting video thanks. At the beginning I was thinking 'oh good, John's being more cautious after his brave/stupid drive in the Badlands' but by the end I see it was only a temporary blip😅
Brilliant video again John, and I loved the vistas along the way. Did any "doer uppers" in the village catch your eye? I think you captured the wandering soul perfectly, heading up the back roads just because you can and have the time to enjoy it. Very enjoyable filming, and super commentary. Cheers 👋
Vistas en Español?
Hi, we're in Turkey and its 42 out and 41 in. How is you're van 30 out and 23 in ?!. Do you have AC powered off your Solar system, if so PLEASE put a link in ?. Oh, loving you're overlanding adventures. We've had to hold up in Sarigerme for a few weeks just to be by the sea. It's abit warm. Stay happy, always watching.
It’s all done without a/c in the habitation area, I do have a/c up front as I’m driving, in the back I have 2 maxxfans, 2 side windows and a rear window and all the 3 window open fully and together with the fans it drastically reduces the heat inside my van.
Wonderful video John,
That footage using Sony RX10 looked *Cough* EPIC 😉 as well as the Drone footage.
Better quality than the Nikon COOLPIX P1000 which was on my wishlist
Sorry to ask, that device at the bottom of your windscreen 07:33, what is it? ( Thought it was a dashcam, but probably wrong )
GrandTour of Spain with Clarkson, Hammond and May. Only wish. Maybe next year.
Did you get to see the stars without the light polution.
Thank you. The dashcam is probably what you can see in the bottom of the window.
Another awesome video, the roads you travel look good as very little traffic, would suit me. Look forward to further adventures from you😊
Great video John! I love places like that, great photo opportunities!
The job with the winch was almost as good as Arthur Tussik’s work. Almost. I think he could straighten out a car that had been through a crusher.
Another great video John
Good video John... I would have been tempted to get my volt testing pen out to see if the overheads were still live 😅😅
Good content john.
Epic !!! Tony
Loved it!
Cracking vid John
You need to find a lake or sea side town and dive for a swimm to cool down.
Thanks John... that was superb... epic 👍
Really interesting video 😁
Great vlog John 👍 Be safe 👍
Brilliant as usual John!
Another great video John, thank you for sharing.... 2 questions if I may, (1) is that an Aloe vera plant you have placed in the front of your car? I know they are good for sunburn. (2) Is this a solo journey you are doing? Thank you.
The plant is plastic 😁 from ikea and my Spanish adventures were solo.
@@GadgetJohn Thank you John. You look as though you are having a great adventure and thanks for taking us all with you.
As always great to watch great content.
Much appreciated!
yeah outstanding view!
Brilliant video John, I really enjoyed the village so very interesting, thank you for taking us with you.
A great driving vid John, nice one.
Quick Q: given the choice, would you go for manual or automatic for a campervan?
cheers
I’ve had an auto ducato and it’s awful to drive, so with a manual you get a much better drive.
What a beautiful lake.
But whats that word you are using: Mirador er what?
Can't find any translations resembling that word.
Mirador in Spanish means Lookout.
@@GadgetJohn - Ahhh, I found that, but just now realised it means a great stop for the view.🤣🤣
A bit spooky.
lovely video, what dash cam you are using in this video?
Do you want to know which dash can I have or do you want to know what camera I used to record the driving clips?
Both pls
You love Spain. You've been many times, What's your favourite place.
The country has so many epic areas I think it’d be rude to single just one as my favourite.
?hi John What brand and model is that 900 ml bridge camera thanks
It’s a Sony RX10 mk4
Wasn't abandoned then!
👍🚐🚐😎
cam in the mouth, Mav style :)
