A little lore bit here, but OG art of Angel of Tithes is the angel Liliana kills when she planeswalks to Innistrad and Lili takes her headpiece as a trophy and to symbolize her hatred to angels/holy beings!
Finally someone else knows this! I loved scrolling through thousands of mtg cards to find relations between em The new sagas cards (i got back into mtg a month ago after stopping in 2018) have references to the ice age block and it is amazing how good the art and references are
@@fireemblemistrash75 Yesss! I absolutely LOVE when cards tell the story through their arts and flavor texts alone. Such impressive and immersive story telling!
Oh... Archangel of Tithes... I recall when I opened the card in Magic Duels. That was the card was the first indicator Duels had a problem creating an environment where there was no rotation... and so they yanked the card rather than code its interaction with cards from new sets. I still have a screenshot of my card, in Magic Duels, before they took it away.
Sick deck man, absolutely love the style! Definitely turning this into a Mardu Snapdax led deck aggro recursion lifegain triggers. With spells like {Village Rites} and such, {dreahorde arcanist} too for example. You inspired my Mardu Commander deck with this one man...hey, now that I'm thinking about it! You making a Snapdax deck on brawl with new cards and old would be sick man, you'd pull it off great, and knowing your aggro love, a double strike lightning helix lifegain triggers aggro. with a sprinkle of reanimation like {Phyrexian Reclamation}...you get the idea haha. Anyways, great videos dude, I love and look up to your playstyle and paterns, you've definetely made me a much better Magic player than I'd be without your content over the years haha. And the low-key humor is gold! Keep it up dude! Cheers :)
Thoughts on trying out a UW flash deck? The archetype was meh before OTJ release, but Aven Interrupter and Stoic Sphinx to diversify the 4 drop spot has pushed one of my decks to the moon. Currently having a 20/3 record with it in BO1 and feels like playing control but with quicker wincons. Basically my only sorcery speed play being the Academy Loremaster as a card draw engine. And yes, Tidebinder is a house.
It’s decent on the play but does very little to stop aggro when you’re on the draw. At least Revelry is a better catch up mechanism. I see it more as a combo piece for some sort of Prison or Flash deck, which isn’t really suited for the current aggro meta in best of one.
Our plan vs those decks is to tax them with Tithes while outracing them in the air. There’s still a few copies of Lockdown to deal with tokens specifically, but other boardclears can set back our own gameplan too much. Since our deck doesn’t have much card advantage we can’t always afford to play the control role.
Quite a while back I saw someone play a green, red and white angel deck that seemed quite broken to me. Had the draw effects, speed, lifegain. I don't understand why I never see it played again.
Tried it before in various other angel and flash decks. Decent card, although often worse in practice than it is in theory. Makes you sequence cards awkwardly to get value and other turns you’re staring down a land or some other uncastable spell. So don’t think it’s worth the extra splash, but still good to keep in mind!
Hm... these blue counter decks and the Cavern of Souls Problem... ist Field of Ruin still legal in standard (I don't often play that format)? If the answer is yes than mono blue should use more Field of Ruin in their decks to destroy the Cavern of Souls.
Both Field of Ruin and Demolition Field are legal. The issue with those in monoblue is that with all the cheap cantrips the deck can’t afford many colorless sources and both Flow of Knowledge and Thirst for Discovery want islands.
Standard just rotated with the newest set, so some of these Angels are no longer legal to play there. Looking at their set symbol will tell you in which packs you can open them, although more often than not you'll have to use wildcards to get the desired cards.
@@LegenVD just saw this video and when i was creating the deck I realized that it rotated. Tried to change Giada but as a new player in the game, didn't think it worked. There is any good angel alternative right now?
@@matheustuning There's no perfect replacement for Giada, but splashing Green or Blue could give you access to a few more cards like Errant & Giada or Sigarda.
Giada is the main loss, which admittedly is a big one. Wouldn't be surprised if a lifegain deck with the same core cards can still work in the future though.
Disgusting? Seriously? Wow. The art is fantastic, just not your typical angel, which is understandable considering the setting. The original art was all stiff and ill-proportioned. I wonder if there's something else that bothers you.
@@dumplingdepinto The setting is pretty trash though (as a part of the Magic multiverse). Too gimmicky, just like MKM. The illustration is an obvious forced token in a cheesy setting... The art itself is fine, that's true. Just super out of place.
@@FluffySpikeM Whether or not the setting is trash is entirely subjective and beside the point. Naturally, the appreciation of the card's art is also subjective, but as I'm sure you know, my remark was directed at the original commenter's particular choice of words and the potential presence of underlying racism/bigotry. Of course, I don't know for certain if that's really the case, but I concluded it warranted an observation.
@@dumplingdepinto Understandable. Let's assume the comment was indeed about race. Most of the time when people say they don't like minorities depicted in entertainment - it has nothing to do with racism or bigotry. Most of the time they're pissed off by bad writing and preachiness. A black woman (rather nice-looking, btw) in a cowboy hat with a gun-but-not-really-a-gun is hardly a typical angel from the game lore perspective. WotC and good writing are things that go together very rarely in recent years (if they ever did).

That "massive dinosaurs" deck was really funny and cool. What a Naya player dreams of doing before they die without casting a single creature.
Oh it's another Domain deck.
Gishath: SURPRISE MFER
Loved that Dino pile, good old fashioned Naya beats
Gotta love angels. You still make awesome builds man. Thanks
Glad you like them!

Always happy to see Boros Angels getting some play!

I think you need some more mass removal for ramp decks or another types of decks with mass creatures

I'm not that old 😅

Hey LVD! Long time watcher and always appreciate your videos that very instructive and entertaining, also I’m not sure about that game 6 😄
20:22 This is the moment where you wish you could draw a Play with fire! lol
Sometimes you just get run over by a large dinosaur 🦕
wauw match 6 was brutal, 7 lands in rov, but yeah the shufller is fine :D
How about Aurelia's Vindicator? It could enable turn 2 Giada, turn 3 Vindicator as a 5/3, turn 4 Resplendent angel and a 7/7 token.
Certainly an option!
I indeed would have liked to see this deck dismantling Boros convoke with angel of tithe. But the matchmaker is so favorable to hyper aggro decks.
Do you play the game only when making content or do you also play it offline too?
Used to play a lot more in my spare time, nowadays mostly to build & test decks for videos.
Match 6 is how my matches go. Opening hand gets killed or countered. Draw nothing but land.
Game 6 was some other kind of mana game

Experimented with a few copies before settling on Revelry, thought the game was still interesting!
I saw the first game you cast a Thalia, but don’t see it in the deck list.
Indeed, she eventually got replaced by Sunset Revelry.
Imagine running (and top decking) play with fire
how have you not become a professional announcer? i would cast my vote
What's with the picture quality? In the deck tech the text on the card is really blurry
Maybe your UA-cam video quality settings have been lowered accidentally, happens from time to time.
Unfortunately not very rotation-proof
