There's the post-punk singer, the cabaret pianist, the preaching bluesman, the rockabilly dandy; somewhere between Leonard Cohen and Captain Beefheart, the Velvet Underground and Peter Hammill, his singing is by turns howling, haranguing, incantation, imprecation, crooning murmur... From this first Bad Seeds album we also find the corpus of obsessions and fascinations that would permeate his future albums: desperate desire leading to madness, as on "From Her to Eternity", the band's first "anthem", with its repetitive, monotonous hammering of percussive piano, its deflagrations of drums, its discharges of industrial guitar exploding in epileptic spasms over an oppressive bass line ... It's one of my favourites...
Nick Cave has this other band (or had, idk tbh), called Grinderman, you NEED to check it out, it has some of the coolest sounds. No Pussy Blues, Honey Bee, When My Love Comes Down, Star Charmer... Lots of good songs.
*Rory.* Thanks 😊 Unhinged Nick and the OG Bad Seeds.🔥 Love Blixa's atmospheric guitar weirdness. Seems like a deceptively simple song. Definitely manic, but with rhythmic complexity and fierce lyrics. Always enjoy your appreciation of Nick and your thoughtful reactions. 😊
Hey Rory love your reaction! Funny you mention scary and intimidating, that is a spot on assessment. You really need to watch the new documentary Mutiny in Heaven about nicks old band the birthday party. I saw them live here in Melbourne in1983 and it changed the way I heard music forever, it was the most frightening and beautiful experience of my life. Keep up the great work and enjoy the Cave ride.
Very heavy and different from Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds. WOWWWW!! I WASN'T EXPECTING THIS!! VH1 WOW!! AWESOME REACTION RORY💙 AND THANK YOU LYDIA FOR THIS SURPRISING REQUEST. 😊🩷🤘✌️🌹
He puts on a great gig every time - always surprising how much energy the set has. His recent tour for Carnage shows he still has it. Check out 'Hand of God' - live at Hanging Rock - 66 yo and still leaves it all out there.

Brings to mind a bit of a Jim Morrison vibe .
Love him. So many songs do I think. The spinning song massively. Also a lot of earth, fire, spinning and the likes.
I can tell that this song is based on the begining of The Faith healer , by The sensational alex harvey band..check it out it is also glorious
