I’m a vet nurse, I’m watching this video because I’m really depressed. I saved a stray kitten and worked on her health for a week…unfortunately I couldn’t keep her because we live in a caravan at the moment with two dogs but this kitten felt like another part of my soul….I’ve never felt like that towards a cat before (I love all cats but this cat was another level)…my brother in Law took her on which I am grateful for but I’m absolutely shattered that I couldn’t keep her.

23:33 the "higher" bowls have to be at your cats elbow height :) and also its really tooo deeep for a cat, they like really flat bowls so they dont experience "whisker stress" while eating 😊
that food bowl, you put it upside down🫣the white color the smaller bowl should be on top and u should feed him only wet food or raw wet food, it's better for them and a friend, so he is not lonely, and some bigger climbing trees, where he can play or explore, cats love to climb or walk on high places😊and two toillets,they like to pee in one and poop in the other one, and when u will have two cats, it’s need to be 3 toillets or 4 if u have the chance to do so. And make sure to clean it often, to wash the whole cat toillet with soap or something just wash it good, and clean the poop or pee daily, and also clean the whole water fountain every other day and change the water so it’s clean
I’m also a first time cat over. My cat is almost 2!!! She has wet food for dinner and since cats naturally don’t drink lots of water, I add some to her dinner to make “soup” just so I knew she’s getting some water during the day. Something you might want to consider! I’m excited to see how you guys grow together!!!

It's a good idea to look up how to play with your cat. They really like the wand things for active play and you're supposed to have good active play sessions with them at least a couple of times a day.

My wife and I (when we were looking) really wanted to adopt a kitten. Long story short, we adopted 2 kittens from the same litter (Jarvis and Friday). We love them so damn much and have loved growing with them over the last 8-ish months. Very much still kitten behavior, but much bigger lol. Extremely healthy, playful, social, love dogs and they love us so much. Wouldn’t change them a bit. From a new kitten owner to another here are a couple of potentially helpful tips - if you want them. For food (particularly dry as ours don’t enjoy wet food much), check ingredients. MANY food brands put in a lot of filler and not much of the healthy ingredients they truly need. This applies to doggos as well. Also, it’s okay to take toys “away.” They’ll love a toy for awhile and once they get bored. Store it for a couple weeks and bust it back out. It’ll be like a whole new toy for them. Don’t do this with their favorites though - you’ll know which ones those are lol. Good luck - you’ll love it!!

A few pieces of advice for you and the new guy - separate the litter boxes from where he eats and drinks; keep the food and water at least a few feet apart; seriously limit the amount of dry food you give him to the amount of 'wet' food (mice are 70% water); avoid the big brand foods that have way too much fillers and carbohydrates; don't give him tap water since it has chlorine and flouride levels that are too high; and get him a play buddy around the same age to maximize their individual development.
yep i'd like to add that instead of commercial packed food, try feeding boiled chicken , boiled eggs, lil bit veggis like carrot, broccoli, pumpkin. I can understand that it may be time consuming maybe if u have some free time u can try this.

Loved this video, but I kept shouting "you need a cat tree, you need a cat tree" and when you mentioned your brother got you one for your birthday, I was relieved. Still would like to have seen it :) I've had cats for about 20 years. In my experience, a cat tree with sisal rope is the best way for them to scratch. Those cardboard scratch pads make a huge mess. Sisal rope makes a mess too, but it takes a lot longer. I usually buy new sisal rope once a year and take the old rope off of the cat tree and wind the new rope to the pillars and use a staple gun to secure it. And of course, my cat Colby will "help" me with that by grabbing the rope as I'm trying to wind it. I definitely recommend getting a sibling for him before he's a year old. They'll love each other and it will give you peace of mind for you to leave your apartment knowing they'll both have each other. The wet wipes are over the top, all you need are paper towels and water, but you're excited and we've all bought things that later on we realized were just too much. All they really need are a cardboard box and a wad of paper lol, but of course I have a lot of toys. Three toys I HIGHLY recommend are as follows: Nerf soccer balls you can buy on Amazon. They come in a 12-pack and are green, pink, yellow, and blue. Teach him to play fetch. Colby LOVES those. He'll catch them in mid-air and bring them back to me. The second toy I recommend is one called "Da Bird" and it's basically a feather toy on a line attached to a flexible stick. You'll need to buy replacement feather toys on occasion but you don't need to get the official ones, there are cheaper ones that work exactly the same. Colby will actually bring me the toy and tell me it's play time. Finally, the third toy I love are those fish that have a little motor inside that wiggles their tail. That way the cats can do a "bunny kick". I put catnip inside of a fine mesh teabag and stuffed it into the fish. They can be recharged with USB. Get it from Amazon, I got scammed from another website that forced me to subscribe to a monthly plan even though I clicked no. They were based in Russia so I had no hope of reporting them to the BBB. I'm so happy for you and Spruce! Don't worry about his name, he can have more than one. Our cat Catalina is nicknamed "kitty" because she grew to be about the size of a 9-month old kitten and then stopped. She's 10 years old now. Colby is also called "Xiao Ba Wong" which means "Little Overlord" in Chinese. We had to say goodbye to Beethoven, who lived to be 18 years old, but we also called him "Beyto", "Question Tail" and "Mr. Orange". Orion is just Orion (but the first day we called him "Trouble") and Donut was just Donut :) Some names are perfect and don't need nicknames, but Sprucey is a pretty easy one. I love cats!! I have always had cats and they were boys and they were the most sweetest and very affectionate!! Currently, I still have cats and I have two. The cats names are Julian and Addie. Julian is 9 and Addie is 11. Just know when the time comes, remember to get your sweet boy fixed. 😊
Is it hard to take care of kitty? Sorry for asking, but I really want to adopt one, and my mom is not 100% sure if I could take good care of her/him, and I never got a cat. So when we move, mom will get my one. I hope so. I always wanted a kitty.
I work at a shelter and yes kittens can be messy, the minute I clean there kennel they start to mess with it, you will also need to play with your kitty and bond with it, but it also depends on the cat some can be chill and some can be energetic

Also, you should try to stay away from grain foods. I always brought grain free and if I got a normal food with grain in it my cat would get sick. You should also get a low-profile food bowl it's less stress on the whiskers and maybe get a water fountain. The movement of the water entices them to drink, cats don't normally drink enough. I made my own and it was a treat to watch too

I adopted two 3-4 month old kittens who were fostered briefly after rescue. I scheduled a vet visit with my long-time vet. One kitten had a conjunctivitis in one eye, required drops 2x/day. We only had out kitties for 5 days and the bond we worked on is now completely broken because of having to chase and hold the one kitten for the eye drop. The drops were not completed, bond nonexistent, the kitties are afraid of us and live under a bed and we're heartbroken. MY ADVICE: Board the kitty for the duration of the medication regime. Let strangers administer the med. Then bring kitty home and resume your bonding. We're still healing from the loss of our 14 year old kitty, now this disaster. Not what we hoped for.
Hi! I need advice from all of the cat owners out there for the kitten I might adopt. It is currently six weeks old and in a litter-my first concern comes from the fact that the kittens’ mother is an outside cat, and they are not on flea medication. I know it’s normal for cats to get fleas every now and then, but I’m worried if I bring it home to where it would live mainly in my bedroom where I have carpet floor, rugs, and a bed with lots of blankets and pillows, the fleas would immediately burrow into the fabrics and live there, reinfecting the kitten even after I give it a bath. I could give it a bath right after I take it home to get any possible fleas off, but I don’t want to scare it more than it already will be moving to a new home. My second problem is that I have done research on single kitten syndrome, and I don’t want that to happen to the kitten I adopt at all, but my room is barely big enough for one cat, and my parents wont let me get another. I will play with it often and I have dogs but I can’t get another cat. What should I do? Thanks!!!
I gave my cats on adopting 4 weeks ago, it has been a hard time for me. I feel very lonely without me cats and I live alone. But the reason I gave them on adoption was that I couldn’t take care of them. I am going through a hard time plus have 3 cats. I couldn’t.
Dont feed it too much dry food also cats dont have big stomaches so little food is better feed the kitten like about 3 to 4 times but def smaller amounts of food but not judging its just advice also the kitten is really cute!
Those aren’t biscuits :( cats do that when they were separated from their mommies too early. They do it to Imitate feeding from there mom, the blanket is fuzzy, which makes them feel like it there mom. Try and pet him while he does this, because it imitates grooming and there mom licks them while they feed.

I’m pretty sure you had the food bowl upside down. You want the wider bowl on top. Cats don’t like their whiskers to touch the edges of the bowl.

Is it hard to take care of kitty? Sorry for asking, but I really want to adopt one, and my mom is not 100% sure if I could take good care of her/him, and I never got a cat. So when we move, mom will get my one. I hope so. I always wanted a kitty.
I work at a shelter and yes kittens can be messy, the minute I clean there kennel they start to mess with it, you will also need to play with your kitty and bond with it, but it also depends on the cat some can be chill and some can be energetic

Also, you should try to stay away from grain foods. I always brought grain free and if I got a normal food with grain in it my cat would get sick. You should also get a low-profile food bowl it's less stress on the whiskers and maybe get a water fountain. The movement of the water entices them to drink, cats don't normally drink enough. I made my own and it was a treat to watch too

Ty for recording this whole process💕I went to the shelter today and fell in love with a kitten there came home and went on UA-cam to search up what’s it like having a kitten and immediately started second guessing it 😢talking about scratching up furniture how they can fall in toilet or bite on cords and get electrocuted or how onions are poisonous to them or some plants too my hope to adopt diminished quickly I’m so scared now 😢but I fell in love with this kitten so now it’s 12am and I can’t fall asleep because my heart is so torn😞 we have a senior dog but he’s more attached to my oldest I don’t know what to do😭❤ your kitten is adorable 🥰
i'm in a similar position, i really want a cat but i'm worried about them getting into something and getting hurt, especially since i live with roomates:/ i'm thinking after i move and have a fresh start i can properly cat proof my house but right now there's no way sadly

I adopted two 3-4 month old kittens who were fostered briefly after rescue. I scheduled a vet visit with my long-time vet. One kitten had a conjunctivitis in one eye, required drops 2x/day. We only had out kitties for 5 days and the bond we worked on is now completely broken because of having to chase and hold the one kitten for the eye drop. The drops were not completed, bond nonexistent, the kitties are afraid of us and live under a bed and we're heartbroken. MY ADVICE: Board the kitty for the duration of the medication regime. Let strangers administer the med. Then bring kitty home and resume your bonding. We're still healing from the loss of our 14 year old kitty, now this disaster. Not what we hoped for.

Hi! I need advice from all of the cat owners out there for the kitten I might adopt. It is currently six weeks old and in a litter-my first concern comes from the fact that the kittens’ mother is an outside cat, and they are not on flea medication. I know it’s normal for cats to get fleas every now and then, but I’m worried if I bring it home to where it would live mainly in my bedroom where I have carpet floor, rugs, and a bed with lots of blankets and pillows, the fleas would immediately burrow into the fabrics and live there, reinfecting the kitten even after I give it a bath. I could give it a bath right after I take it home to get any possible fleas off, but I don’t want to scare it more than it already will be moving to a new home.
My second problem is that I have done research on single kitten syndrome, and I don’t want that to happen to the kitten I adopt at all, but my room is barely big enough for one cat, and my parents wont let me get another. I will play with it often and I have dogs but I can’t get another cat. What should I do? Thanks!!!

I gave my cats on adopting 4 weeks ago, it has been a hard time for me. I feel very lonely without me cats and I live alone. But the reason I gave them on adoption was that I couldn’t take care of them. I am going through a hard time plus have 3 cats. I couldn’t.
Dont feed it too much dry food also cats dont have big stomaches so little food is better feed the kitten like about 3 to 4 times but def smaller amounts of food but not judging its just advice also the kitten is really cute!
Those aren’t biscuits :( cats do that when they were separated from their mommies too early. They do it to Imitate feeding from there mom, the blanket is fuzzy, which makes them feel like it there mom. Try and pet him while he does this, because it imitates grooming and there mom licks them while they feed.
