I'm interested in learning how skills synergize with each other to become more effective. Are there specific categories of synergies to look for when creating builds (like skill synergies that increase your damage output vs synergies that will keep buffs or debuffs applied to you or your enemies)?
Note that I'm *not* talking about the kind of synergies where your teammates can press X to trigger an additional effect of a skill you've just used.
I just mean that when I consider all of the skills I *could* put on my bar, I logically know that certain skills work together better than others, but I sometimes have a tough time seeing how certain combinations of skills are better than others.
I'm not a *total* idiot, I promise! Some things are obvious, such as if you have one skill that does something if your attack is a critical strike, and another skill that says that it is *always* a critical strike, then...great, those two obviously work great together.
But I feel as though there are probably other, more subtle interactions that exist that I just don't know how to look for.
Any help on this subject would be appreciated!

It would be really great to see more videos titled and showing what to do from cp 160-300 or 300-600… Some short term ideas/goals and some good builds to work with. UA-cam tends to throw beginner videos and end game build videos at me. Not much in the middle.

I'm about 3 months into ESO and getting to the mid game - ive a few easy overland sets inthe sticker book, still deciding on 'main' between my 3 sorc, bow warden and magcro.. A structured guide to moving from solo questing to group play would be good - best dungeons to queue for as you move up to vet, best addons for the pc players to monitor dps done and how it improves on the fly. A good guide to damage vs penetration and how to balance for solo, group only or a mix would help a few people I'm sure.

My first time in ESO, I tired to play it like WoW. At level 50 CP 25, I found myself discouraged and ready to quit. Other games teach you to peruse gear/power, with content relegated to nothing more than a means to an end. Last July, I returned to ESO with an entirely different mindset, determined to take my time and enjoy the game content, which is in my opinion the best in the genre. I don't grind, or set quota's, I just soak up the lore of each zone, run dungeons a few night's per week, and explore my character's potential. Nearly 6 months later I still love the game. Let me also note that the ESO community is THE BEST! No harsh rebuke when mistakes are made, helpful, and supportive.

A lot of players made the same mistake. In the mmo sphere, people didn't look for a good game. People looked for a "wow-killer". ESO just doesn't play like that, and people who purposefully avoid learning the systems will inevitably not enjoy it. There's so much fun to be had here

I think ur full of shit, the game has lost all meaning for levels or any kind of progression since the whole garbage system that is the one tameriel joke. I've lost all desire to lvl cause theres no point cause everything is ur lvl and the gear is a fucking joke nothing gains any kind of l l or gets better it's just low states all the time and no progression so u saying u love this is just blatant lie u can progress if everythin is low stats and underwhelming armour or weapons and passives r a joke they do nothin I've got all passives I need and I'm still not doin damage enough so Idk wat game ur playing but it's not eso

I think one of the reasons Mid game is so frustrating is because there are a number of players who expect you to to have already one everything.
I haven’t rushed and have focused on questing, crafting and pvp. As a result I was running Crypt of Hearts 2 for the first time at CP 400. Me, healer, and other DPS we’re slowly working our way though. Not struggling but moving slowly. The Tank kept running ahead pulling 7-8 mobs and then getting killed while we slowly killed the mobs he pulled. He got mad and was like “how have you not done this 1000 times”
Attitudes like that can discourage a lot of mid game players form making it to end game

there is a kind of "formula" for all builds both pve and pvp regardless of role. identify your spammable. this is basically the skill you use the most. the dps will use their cheap dmging skill while a tank will use in most cases the cheap aggro generator or a party dmg shield buff and if your a hybrid of the 2 like a lot of the pve solo builds you find the skill thats the middle ground of the 2. then u identify ur short term buffs. then ur long term. long term buffs go on the back bar. ur initial buffs should enhance what your already trying to do. dmg or survive. a dmging buff would not only include the raw "+dmg% for a duration" but also the "deal dmg over a duration in this area" and the survivability buffs arent only the resistance or shields but also the skills that provide some sort of healing. on my templar tank i have my "oh shit button" (the large aoe burst heal) and my "this aint bad" healing over time on my back bar because it lasts for 20s i believe. then beyond that is really up to u. this is where you fill in the gaps that you see. do u want more dmg? whats easier a DoT or a Burst maybe you need a finisher? are you tanking maybe u need another resistance buff, or perhaps even a DoT to help your party clear weak groups faster.. after that its ur gear. and thats where the research comes in. for example a templar tank has no aoe taunts. but a tormentors set with that morphed 2her charge skill makes it an aoe taunt.
i know this is a lot. but basically its.. choose your role, identify your spammable, then short buffs, then long buffs, then fill the gaps. choose your gear
also if ur dps is taking too much damage, try including better mobility whether its a dash or teleport or just a buff that increase movement/makes u immune to moblitity effects. its a lot easier to run as a dps than to try to take a hit.
after all that its just practice.

Reverse engineer: figure out what you want to do and build around that. I made a very fun nightblade bandit for PvP... Squishy, didn't hit hard, but stealthy af and ran circles around the enemy taking resources. They had to choose between chasing a ghost or losing transit, totally crushed them... But this absolute nightmare for the enemy would only win maybe 5% of direct fights. You have vast freedom to not only play with non-meta ideas, but even to win with them...

I just started playing never really got into any mmo since I don’t have any online friends. My game time is sporadic though I do have the availability & freedom to play in the evenings whenever. It’s kinda one of those the fridge is full but nothing looks appetizing (life of a bachelor?). I’ve been blown away at the sheer number of zones available that I went ahead and got eso+ just to jump to each of them to check out what they look like. It feels like an online oblivion where I can see people running around the realm as I do my quests. I just found out about companions in Blackwood and unlocked a cat with a crate that runs around with me. Helps a lot with the solo player feel with having companion even if it’s just an AI.

one of the BEST Videos Ive seen for New and Vet Players. What really hit me as a Vet player was when he talked about builds and how someone would do more damage with their own build that they have been playing with for a long time VS a meta build that they are just starting to trying out. Good Example for this Was my Ice Mage Warden build I came up with my self, and mind you at this time no one thought you could really do good DPS frost damage, and when i finally got the whole build(including sets) done, i got quit a few WOWs and complemets on doing top damage with Frost Damage.

You may want to make a couple additional toons and run through the craft tutorial so they can do daily crafting writs. It really helps with obtaining early game wealth in both gold and mats. and provides extra inventory, as toons can act as extra "banks" for your account.

What would be kinda cool would be an option when starting is to go through the three alliances like in the old days.
Even though people CAN get Cadwell's 'Gold' - surely there are plenty of players that have no idea how the zone missions really work when it comes to the alliances and where to go next.
The other side of the coin is having 12 toons and forgetting mechanics and skills constantly.. especially in pvp when I sometime need to look at the skill bar o.O

Funny thing about me with ESO is I got...wildly over-priced on the base game on Xbox ages ago from an NYC game store (not GameStop, a local one), bounced off almost immediately because not only did I not understand how any of the One Tamriel update worked, I generally had very little understanding of how modern MMO's actually function, namely the fact that you basically don't get to sell anything back to vendors for money worth a damn (unless it's Ornate, of course).
I had sampled a good deal of Final Fantasy 14 afterwards, got burnt out because 2.X patch quests blow chunks (even if it's trimmed down now), but finally picked it back up early last year and powered all the way through Shadowbringers and now Endwalker. I was finally able to fully appreciate an MMO.
...Not counting me playing a ton of Phantasy Star Online 1 from a private server, though that is still a fantastic game to this day.
Anyway, before Endwalker came out I re-rolled my Templar Breton (Breton being my main elder scrolls class cause I like me some magic in this series) as simply myself instead of an OC, and I ended up...actually understanding it.
Now, ESO on console is still an absolute nightmare of Skyrim-based UI that is rather garbage when I need to flip through one single list for all my goddamn materials even if it's auto-sorted, but I played Skyrim a ton, I'd manage.
And now I have a rhythm of doing Horse upgrades, doing equipment writs, daily Roule-excuse me, Random Dungeons for EXP (that I'll keep doing until I hit 50 since CP won't net me skill points so I don't need to rush that part) and if I feel like playing more I'll just...go and explore to get as many Wayshrines and Skyshards as I can find.
Yeah, I might be minorly rushing to 50 by spamming the daily Random Dungeon boost, but hey, if I'm clearing content comfortably, I'm contributing enough. One I hit 50 and CP starts (they...they really need a different acronym, like honestly) I'll lay off the EXP rush and do more side quests and zone stories so I can get more cash for storage capacity and skill points.
Hell, I've even worked out a Two-Handed/Destruction Staff DPS build for myself, with my emergency class heal to boot. Didn't look at a guide for that part, turned off the skill advisor, I just wanted to build my own Red Mage and my Staff skill is maxed so now I'm working on my 2H.
Overall, I'm having a lot of fun with ESO as a side gig to Final Fantasy. I'm glad I was finally able to get a lot of this game figured out because I'm not gonna lie, this game's mid-game is fun as shit with building your own class as Elder Scrolls tends to excel at.

The biggest thing that offset me is the time it takes to find a random group with the dungeon finder as a DPS. So most of the time I end up playing tank because the queue is almost instant. Lately, I've started to solo most vet base content to get keys, having a companion, even though they are not perfect, helps a ton. For instance, I tried to tank Varaine Pelingare (with scroll of glorious battle) with my Frost mage and she would just obliterate me, I changed my companion healer setup into a tank setup and we destroyed her! It's a fun way to challenge yourself! ^^'

Yeah, I totally get what you're saying. I know that I've been guilty of this; as soon as you get a few hundred CP and an armor/weapon set you immediately set off to solo 4 man dungeons and world bosses and then you get pissed when they wipe the floor with you. Content creators haven't done a very good job of making people understand that soloing hard content isn't just a playstyle choice, it's a new level of challenge for really good players. Dealing with the mechanics in that type of content on your own is pretty difficult.
BTW, I kind of like using Vampire's Kiss when leveling, I usually start using it at level 10. They've really improved it from what it was years ago. Now it gives extra stamina, magicka, more damage and a heal on kill. Anyway, very good video on an unrecognized problem.

On its own my first main as Nightblade is fun, but I never reached dps numbers like you said and I know my build if u can call it that and tried alternate and just more confused about all the options everyone gives. I started to think its NB, but I clearly see people pull it off with similar non-build.
Than I was a time long on console and had a Necro as main, and albeit same trouble it was easier to go thru all with the selfhealing powers, which i struggled with on NB. I would have at least liked to use it again on PC since i got a gaming pc now, but for no friggin reason there are no tokens for class change. And I want to use it as main, having done all content and achievements like my NB has. I was looking forward to play Deadlands but still havent as both those points just discouraged me and I lost motivation.
Seeing the new trailer just wants me to play, but than I think - ah yeah, still this trouble to solve.... btw I am autistic and not the best at executing plans or builds as u mentioned, even more so than others and my reaction is below average (not bad, but with lower limit in training) and someone like me needs on peak advice to follow to a degree and understand it sadly. so really dunno what to do.
questing is still my main thing and it doesnt stop me, but when i feel like lacking behind, especially in groups I dont feel like I am actually playing much. i often joked i am a support, not a dps or anything in a group.
hope it makes sense what i am babbling here.

This video is a great reminder for me. Exactly what I needed to hear. I played ESO on XBOX for years and years.. I was crazy good going solo in trials where people needed a group just to make it through the door. I got sick of XBOX when I had thousands of dollars invested in a PC that I wasn't using, and XBOX load times ugh.. I stopped playing ESO when I realized I couldn't transfer my years of work and I sold my XBOX.. I would have paid $500 on the spot to transfer my main character. I just got ESO on a discount and I knew the holiday event that's around Christmas/New years and used that to power level to CP200 in 2 weeks.
I have the skill points, I just skipped the storylines, and missed quite a few sky shards I'm sure.. But I got most of them. Still even with everything I had (minus Mages Guild and fighters guild and thieves guild) I just suck now. I was God Like when I was at CP200 last time. This video reminded me I had a very specific play style using Mother's Sorrow and one other 3 piece set.. It was my favorite mix for how I played. I need a xbox to log on to to see what I had exactly..
Before I studied every skill and tested it after I applied a skill point to it. But I'm talking YEARS. I collected everything and didn't miss anything. I knew what everything was and how to take advantage of it. This time I was rushed and didn't read through the skills very well, just made sure I would benefit from it. You reminded me, I knew what skills to switch to when I changed my gear and how to adapt my playing style to everything I used.
PC with add ons it's a game changer.. If only I could bring my OG character over to PC.. I had every large house stacked with max chests that were organized and filled. And sets that I upgraded and modified over months and months. I only used legendary items.. I looted and traded for the gold to buy the crafting supplies.. Years of work..
Now I'm starting from the beginning and thought I could power through and get what I had in a few months over a few years. I'm going to spend this weekend doing homework on my newest build. I went with a high elf dragonknight this time I was high elf something else last time. Last time I also spent hours deciding on my character. And even more time adjusting his appearance to make him look like me. I forgot everything, it's been like 4 years since I played. Rushing through was a bad idea and is destroying what made the game so great.

    @Brah We Got This
I agree with almost everything you have said in your video but there is a fundamental flaw in the learning possess for new players and it's not them trying to fulfill the use of advanced builds or rushing to CP160+ etc...
There is no mid-game to learn from in ESO nowadays. 90 percent of the time in groups you have endgame players / fake healers / fake tanks blowing and carrying people through almost all beginning and mid-game content. Early solo play teaches you the very basics but 4 man content is where your education really begins.
They never learn proper mechanics not to mention the capabilities of their own class within a group dynamic. Basically, new players get very little experience learning their class and its capabilities.
As a whole, we justify pug fake tanking, fake healing and speed runs as a service to newer players and in the same breath bitch at them for not knowing their class or proper mechanics. You have valid points in your video but the problem is much more involved as the core learning possess for a new player is totally broken in ESO.

this is the exact reason i primarily play solo. on my first character i wanted to lvl the undaunted and learn the dungeons so i can become a better tank and i had a stamsorc cp384 rushing through the whole thing and killing everything solo. then when i asked him to slow down because ive never been in that dungeon before he said "kys, nooblet git gud" then continued doing what he was doing. i tried to keep up then he died because he started the boss fight without me and then proceeded to call me a dog and rage in chat about how trash i was and how eso needs to bring the level zones back because noobs like me ruin his gameplay. so i decided to stand on top of him and press ctrl repeatedly while tanking the boss and healing the group only after the boss fight was done he got up and then again said how trash i was and that noobs like me ruin the experience for good player. this was a lvl 10 dungeon btw. then tried to just be kind again and ask if he could slow down just a bit at least for the boss fight so he wouldnt die again. and sure enough he did his lightning dash thing right into the boss without a pause for anyone in the group so i said wait a sec in the party chat and we let him die. an i procceded to tank/heal and spam ctrl he got up called me a dog then left. ever since then i decided i wasnt going to do any group content until i can handle the whole thing solo. and its worked out so far. i still get the "speed runner" who only "Dies Per Second" and i just keep going the pace of the rest of the group. we got a newbie trying to loot every urn basket and drink? cool. we got 3 "speed runners" okay ill just switch to my magicka dash instead of my stamina aoe taunt dash. and i keep up. the ones that speed run on their own usually just say "noobs" in the chat and leave. ive never once depended on the "speed runner" dps for any fight. they are honestly just a troll in my eyes and i could care less about them.

as a pretty casual solo player myself; you're absolutely right.. the game doesn't teach you crap about the game it's major mechanics, etc, outside of how the crafting works. it just sort of drops you in, and you're just expected to sink or swim. and that's a pretty fundamental design flaw for new players. they really need to by default drop you at the start of the main quest, and have it push you in the right directions as you go, so that you as a noob don't get lost/overwhelmed. Personally, I feel like discussing all this min-max BS is pointless until you get to upper end of mid game, because when you're brand new you don't care about armor sets, and items at this point, it's just "is this piece of gear better than the piece I'm currently wearing?" what's worse is "what is meta" doesn't matter outside of PvP, and most people aren't doing that. they're just gonna look up guides and try to sort themselves out from there. for a lot of people, I think it's just a lack of preparation, due to the lack of a proper intro to the game, because the original tutorial was scrapped when they started making dlc for it. while the open concept of the game is nice to have the option for veterans of the game, it really does need to be on the rails for a while for the new players at least until they are able to finish the main quest on their own which i've not even finished myself, despite getting pretty far into it, (I was pretty under leveled for it and left it to go do other quests and level up and I simply forgot to go back). I haven't bothered to do public dungeons because they're for 4-8 people, and I'm not 4-8 people, so in my mind that content isn't for me because my past experience with randos in every other multiplayer game has almost never been pleasant. Basically I'm skipping what is likely important content(according to you) because people ruined my ability to trust people. 🤷‍♀ Still..the all of 3 people i ever interacted with on ESO have been pretty chill while questing.

Might be unpopular opinion but some players want to spend their time as "efficiently" as possible, so for them, rushing to cp 160 is the best way, be it via dungeon spam or by other means.
Like Brah We Got This said in previous videos, the content in ESO is never leaving you, which means the so called "mid game" or skillpoint hunting or zone completion isn't lost for the people who choose to rush content.
The main benefits of rushing the content imo are:
    - Getting itemsets you were missing from dungeons into your collection
    - Unlocking CP as fast as possible so that all the exp after that goes to more CPs
Why waste exp in early and mid game, when you can spend them towards the CP and try getting closer to those end game builds?
But yes, it comes down to what is fun and rushing content isn't fun for everyone, but for some people it is. But the nice thing about ESO is that people can choose to do stuff at their own pace and there isn't only 1 way to play the game.
PS: For people who like rushing (I include myself into this category) might see hitting lvl 50 as the "start of the jorney" instead of the end, if that makes sense.

Been playing ESO for about almost a month now. I'm currently working on the main and alliance questlines. I'm working in fighter's guild and mage's guild quests with them. There's a lot of DLC I'd loved to get to because it looks so fun, but I want to try and do things in order. I'd love to visit Summerset. When I bought the game I got all of the DLC up till now for free with it. My one complaint is I wish the game wouldn't keep introducing NPCs from those DLCs to me trying to get me to start those quests. It's confusing because I'm not sure if I should pick up the quest or not yet. I've ended up abandoning the DLC quests when I realize they're part of DLC I want to do later. The lady from Orsinium keeps yelling at me that she's been looking for me every time I run by her. Gets annoying after awhile lol.

All gear below CP160 was useless before the sticker book so most people rushed to CP160 so they can start farming gear they need for end game and if you are a new player you are not swimming in money/resources to upgrade all the different gear you use while trying to get to end game.
Also while some sets are easier to keep up you should be using sets that make you do something to proc (like kinras) them so you learn how to use sets what drop in trials if trials are your end game content you want to do.
If you do content slowly i believe you are wasting exp when all the quest exp in zones can go to your CP levels. Not saying that you should just leave questing until you are CP160 like finish 1-2 zones while running dungeons should make you near level 50.
Go collect enough skyshards to get skill points your build needs and finish quests when you have time/want to do them.

I just realized as of recent that I was attempting End Game content like trying to run Bloodroot Dungeon on Vet... I actually did pretty decent in terms of staying alive but made it to the last boss and just couldn't make it happen with the armor and attribute points I had. If anything now I'm more prepared when I do have enough DPS to start doing DLC VET Dungeons and It's fun to research which sets and stats I should have before I throw myself back into the ring! Until then I'll be doing questing, crafting and normal dungeons til I get my CP up there with the big boys! I would encourage any CP300 to attempt a Vet dungeon just to see how much you actually suck and what you need to improve. But I can tell you now no matter what your role if you're jumping a vet dungeon without the best armor sets and the right attribute points and CP points you'll be hanging on by a thread and end up burnt Earthgore Amalgam toast...

Steps for new players to power through flawlessly power level and get a ton of skill points real fast
#1 Go to starter zones collect the easy skyshards
#2 Go run through the mission to unlock mirri it is super fast and super easy
#3 Go find other new characters or friends who will help you storm through a bunch of the public dungeons skipping everything except the group event boss and skyshard once you beat the group event boss and get that skyshard move to the next one don't bother with the story quest or any of the side bosses and run past most of the enemies along the way everyone should bring your mirri's along with you. If you really want to do the quest later you can always come back later. Once you have killed the group event boss and got the 1 skill point for that and picked up the skyshard go immediately to the next public dungeon with your group the goal is to do these as quickly as possible in and out you will have a ton of skill points in no time at all and you will do some leveling along the way.
#4 Power Level to your heart's content make a Bline to at least CP160 as that's the gear cap but probably should keep going to at least CP300.
#5 Start collecting your Good CP160 Gear pieces monster sets harpooners kilt etc.
You can get skill points insanely fast using this method and all this nonsense about you shouldn't power level because you won't have the skill points is extremely disingenuous Brah and instead, you could be more honest and just explain that it is not really an issue with some planning and if done properly.

A PC player could test it for themselves by using a 'Meta' setup for free on the PTS - I suspect that they will not suddenly do 110k+ DPS on a target dummy even with a perfect set up and 3600 CP to use. It is the player that is the issue not the gear, which is why I agree rushing is not a great way to learn on your first playthrough of the game. It's fine to power level an alt for sure however. The issue is that you are led to believe you should be doing 70k+DPS for example, but the reality is that we all play a game to learn stuff and above all enjoy it. If we can do that and complete content and enjoy it, it matters not one jot that it takes 4-5 rounds of mechanics instead of 3.

The real #1 mistake is making a Stam character, due to the end game community being majority mag only.

Not sure where in the world you play. However, a nod towards latency/ lag and how it affects your dps would be nice.

It can be frustrating, but you can get everything done even with some pretty nasty ping. I'm an NZ player with over 10 trial trifectas, including 3 Godslayers done with ~300+ ms. Just gotta stick with it 😆
