That qualifying highlights trick is clutch! Quick questions:
    1. Why dont you use CST to get to Rec.709 color space instead of grading in another color space?
    2. Do you think you colors could be shifting because you are not in rec.709 color space so when you upload its getting converted to rec.709 which is changing the saturation and contrast?

Thanks man, I use that one all the time!
      1) you can do that and that is probably more technically correct but this is just my usual workflow 🤷‍♂️
      2) that could definitely be a possibility! However I do know other people who convert to rec.709 and still have the same problem when it comes to UA-cam uploads. I thinks it’s just UA-cam’s compression but you may be on to something there too!

@@cjwomack Damn dude! I can't tell you how many videos I've seen on highlight management, and they always leave a lot to be desired or they're editing on something with a much better rolloff like something black magic. I was watching this video thinking the before looks bad, like an A7iii-A7IV series but it looks too good in the after to be one. But man you really made it look good! Thanks for the video dude, this is like the single best video for making highlights less ugly on Sony on UA-cam and it's so slept on! Can't thank you enough! You have a patreon or something I can buy you a beer or coffee?

@@DavidHager1 thanks so much for the words man! Sometimes 8 bit color is frustrating to work with still but I like trying different tricks to get the most out of it. I don’t have a patreon or anything set up but thanks for the thought and the offer! I appreciate you!
