  • DeMarcus Cousins suffered a quad tear during the opening round of the 2018-2019 NBA playoffs with the Golden State Warriors. This is different than the injury we saw Victor Oladipo suffer earlier in the year and he is going to be out indefinitely while he rehabs the strained muscle.
    This video is your ULTIMATE GUIDE to this type of an injury! Thanks as always for watching!

    I didn't address it in this video but obviously there could be some effect from his Achilles injury . There are no direct correlations between Achilles tests and quad strains but he likely has altered his mechanics to put different load on the quad muscles. Either way this definitely will make further rehab even more challenging now with a history of both injuries.

      So how long do you think he'll be out for doctor?

    • @BrianSuttererMD
      @BrianSuttererMD  5 років тому +21

      I'd say at least a few weeks, but we'll know more after 1-2 weeks of rehab..hard to really estimate since they aren't being totally up front about severity..they are giving him 2 weeks then re evaluate

      It's a matter of how long warriors are in playoffs and how he recovers. There are some complications that can occur and delay healing. Honestly I'm sure they are planning on him being out all playoffs, but we'll see

    I really like Demarcus Cousins. His moveset is really versatile and I think he has the potential to be top tier. His throw combos are insane, and his aerials might come out a bit late sure, but he hits sooo hard. Seeing this guide he makes a lot more sense to me now.

I broke my fibula, shifted my tibia out of place, completely ruptured my deltoid ligament. With Lonzo injuring the outside of his ankle this will give you a chance to talk about the inside of the ankle.

    Hi Doc great vids btw. I have torn both quads now in my right leg 5 years ago playing football (soccer) where i was fatigued and heard a pop noise, i was able to play after around 11 weeks. The left leg I had a tear about 10 weeks ago this was again playing football this time i felt something go in my leg and realised it was the quad from my past experience so i knew about RICE method as of now its virtually back to normal and i can sprint in bursts but im being careful. Do these muscles make a full recovery or do I need to be more cautious from now on?

  • @Vibestr
    @Vibestr 5 років тому

    Hey Brian,
    I know you said you dont believe his injury is related to his achiles, but i think the mechanisms are similar. For example, let's assume that his anchilles injury occurred when he extended his ankle (from an extreme dorsi flexed position). Similarly, when you extend your ankle to jump/run, you extend your knee. So if his heel wasn't able to take the load of his body, he could have compensated by extending more at the knee.
