I'm not sure if therapeutic cloning will really make conventional organ transplants obsolete. I guess it's going to be a matter of capacity. If therapeutic cloning becomes a reality there is going to be a transition time where people still need to get a conventional organ transplant and only a few people can afford a cloned organ. Once the prices go down there might still be cases where a donated organ might be available faster due to coincidental supply and demand (meaning someone gets their diagnosis and some else has an accident and could donate their organs) because it might be faster to transplant a donated organ which might be flown across the country rather than cloning a completely new organ. Maybe in the future people will get a temporary donated organ to keep them alive until their cloned organ is ready for transplantation. This would nonetheless be a great success for modern medicine because there are still many people who die every day but could live on with organ transplants of any kind.
Really glad you created a whole series about cloning. I learned a lot by watching these videos. Keep'em coming!!!
