- This video shows a Kidde smoke alarm chirping after it was removed from the power source. It does not have a backup battery. The unit chirped three times the first time I removed it and two times the following two times I removed it. I think the extra energy is stored in the capacitor.
I have the same smoke alarm. How do you remove it? Counter clockwise?
There is extra power stored up in the capacitor after you remove it from the wallthere's a button after you remove it from the wall and after you replace the battery you need to push a button on it and keep it pressed for about a few seconds so it doesn't go off again.
How do you replace the battery on this one, there is no battery door.

My issue is::: My 1 year old Kidde Model i12010SCOCA IONIZATION & Carbon Monoxide Alarm gave a beep @ 4:15 am after what appeared to be a minor power fluctuation. The alarm would go off approximately every 30 seconds, stop then start again. I took the alarm off it's mounting and went downstairs to have a look at it. To my surprise the beeping noise continued Upstairs even though I'm downstairs in the kitchen with the alarm.. I wen back upstairs to look at the wiring. I noticed that the Red Power wire that connects to the alarm connector was loose from the main Red wire. I reconnected it and put the alarm back on. There was no difference, it still beeps every 30 seconds. I checked the other 2 alarms, they are Not beeping, but the Green status lights are blinking while the beeping one upstairs has a Solid Green status light showing. What might the problem be?
This is insane, I have no battery in my smoke detector and it’s beeping

Usually may mean it's at its end of life. Check the manufacturing date and replace it if it's a decade old.
So many funny comments. I think the capacitor comment answered the question keeping us all up at night. Sorry Satan but your hands aren't on this one. Damn smoke alarms....
Kiddie said some alarms are faulty
This is exactly the same alarm I have and my landlord argues with me saying it has a battery I have looked for several days amd no luck to finding g a door for battery.
So there is no battery for this unit?
Same here. My electrician is coming by tomorrow. IF there is a (#%#^battery in it > He'll find it. I'm done

@@maximegirard9099 I called the company and they sent me a Free replacement as the 1 I had did Not have a back up battery. I own my home ur landlord needs to fix the issue and have good alarms installed
There is NO backup battery in that model and Kidde will replace it Free BUT ur landlord has to call them to have that done. KIDDE customer svc was awesome to deal with. The # is on the unit. You could call them and see if they.ll ship to You .. but ur landlord is responsible for this

@@muskaanwalia8892 with this model, battery is built-in and can't be replaced. Need to replace the detector itself. There are some models that have replaceable batteries.
I changed the battery and it's still chirping. I Held the button down... still chirping. Is the date on the unit the expiration date or date it was put in the house?
I believe it is the Expiration Date.

It’s from 2011 and smoke alarms only last for 10 years
Back up battery is inside. That chirp is to let you know to replace it. The whole thing opens up to replace the battery.
How do you replace the baterie inside ?

That's a 10 year spelled lithium battery kidde smoke alarm after 10 years like all smoke alarms and battery operated you need to replace it cheak the date to see if its over 10 years old and if it is over 10 years old replace it

@@savagex466-qt1io Well sadly you cant replace the battery in this since it is an intergraded battery. Also after 10 years you have to replace the unit its self with a new one. Kina like you cant replace the bearings in a washing machine if it has a sealed tub for example. At the same time it is possible to replace the 10 year lithium battery in it if you are determent but at the same time the reason why the battery only lasts for 10 years because you are meant to replace the smoke alarm every 10 years

So what do you do to make it stop chirping? I have the same one and it's good until 2025.
Change it's batteries. If it's too late for that, remove it from the ceiling and put it somewhere far away so you won't hear it then change the batteries.
