    Just to clarify, EasyJet staff were enforcing the wearing of masks on the flight and making sure they covered the mouth and nose. The time we removed our masks was for a drink which is allowed. In the airport, we were at least 20m from anyone else when talking without a mask and you are allowed to remove the mask when seated in the airport restaurant and bar.

      What were the rules on hand luggage and small item e.g backpack ? i heard hand luggage is dropped off before you board flight and only small items e.g backpack are allowed inside with you ?

      @flydriveexplore  4 роки тому

      @@erfanm1425 We didn't notice anything different to usual, we had small carry on as we also had suitcases in the hold. Coming back they did put the larger carry on in the hold, I think it depends on how full the flight is (our return flight was virtually full).

    I must say, very enjoyable video! Thank you very much guys! As Bristol is my local airport it’s an airport I fly through quite frequently, such a shame to see it like this! Take care!

      Hi, we felt safer than in other daily situations. Did you see the comments under this video by George Botley, he was our actual pilot. Have a look at his comment about the air onboard in reply to the comment by 'stocktownguy', this may also reassure you.

    Thank you for the video. Where did they check the PCR test results? Are they checked at all?

    • @flydriveexplore
      @flydriveexplore  3 роки тому

      This was August last year before they were asking for PCR tests.
      We did a PCR test for another trip a few weeks ago just before we were to fly to Madeira, we uploaded the results to the local Madeira Safe government website. However, due to the Amber thing the trip was cancelled last minute so we never actually got there.

    So even UK airports differ. Stansted Airport didn't have any temperature checks. It seemed quiet busy on the plane. Everyone disappeared to Greece in Europe I have the feeling.

    • @flydriveexplore
      @flydriveexplore  4 роки тому

      The temperature check was a new system they were trialling. Yep, Greece was one of the few places in the sun we could fly to, it was very quiet when we got there.

      Hi again, yes we remember you from the Route 66 trip, how was your trip?.
      It was good to get away this year, we didn't think we were going anywhere until 2021. The actual trip was really good and we felt much safer in Crete than we did back home, no crowds and all outdoor seating. We would like to do Route 66 again but I think it will be late next year at the earliest. Thanks again for watching.

      It was those air corridors over the summer last year. We were booked for Tenerife but they locked Spain down including the islands so we transferred our flight to Crete, we flew in August 2020.

    Very good video! Interesting to see what measures are in place. At the moment it's not the virus or those measures putting me off travelling abroad but the threat of 14 days quarantine.

    • @flydriveexplore

      We were lucky as arrived home Wednesday before the surprise Welsh announcement. They need to sort out some consistency and a way to help people return in a safe way instead. When we were away we felt much safer than in the UK, outdoor dining, no crowds and all staff in masks and gloves.

      @j.j.leganeur3184 4 роки тому

      Very nice video. I watched it out of curiosity of what air travel was like in Europe, as I don't follow it much these days. Was not too familiar with Easy Jet, so I googled Easy Jet and immediately saw headline news links to UK quarantine Greek Islands. How coincidental to your video was that? Glad you are safe at home, but it seems that the news was reporting yesterday on 7 September that quarantine goes into effect this coming Wednesday at 4 am BST. /// The same chaos has been going on here in the states for several weeks. Various states have 14 day quarantine on people coming from other states and countries.

    • @flydriveexplore
      @flydriveexplore  4 роки тому

      @@j.j.leganeur3184 The quarantine restrictions are changing from day to day so it is putting a lot of people off travelling. To make it more confusing, the quarantine in Wales was introduced before the English quarantine (all still part of the UK). Luckily we missed it, but for about a week if you landed in England and stayed in England you didn't have to quarantine but if you landed in England and drove 30 minutes to Wales, you did have to quarantine.

    Well, turns out flying during the pandemic is not as bad as I thought it would be...
    I can't wait to fly to Spain (fun fact: I'm also flying with EasyJet) in June this year! This will be my first flight, and indeed my first time outside of the UK during the COVID-19 pandemic.

      Thanks for the comments, but as stated in the video you were allowed to remove the mask to eat and drink, which is the part on the plane when I removed the mask and in the airport terminal I wasn't within 20m of anyone else when talking to the camera.

    Never been on an airline that gave out caramel or any other candy. I assume the caramel had no expiration date or one that will last a very long time, good to have during a pandemic. However, it is not very well known that too much sugar can keep people up at night and then, they take sleeping pills.

      They did have a choice of chocolate bars (Twix, KitKat etc) as well as some other food but that particular bar we took on board with us because we didn't know if they would be serving any snacks (initially, the first few flights after lockdown didn't have anything).

      The airlines have argued that the cabin air is continuously recycled. However, that is true only to a certain extent. It is more so while you are flying. It is less so while you are in the tarmac, especially with the doors open. I would also be wise to keep your mask on as often as possible, i.e. Eat and drink as fast as possible. Just think of something behind you, who stands up and cough or sneezes on top of you. Don't want to make you paranoid, but I think that this a real pandemic.

      J.J. Leganeur Don’t want to be that guy, but your statement about the ground is wrong. I fly the Airbus and airliner procedures have changed at the moment so the air conditioning is run on the ground all the while passengers are aboard. Historically this wasn’t done for two reasons 1) the smaller engine powering the air conditioning burns fuel needlessly when the local air temperature suffices; and 2) it creates a lot of noise pollution which you can actually hear while the creator of this video boards the plane. It is this latter point which historically stopped us using the aircon at the gate as airports fined airlines for doing so pre-COVID. Long story short, the air is still replaced every couple of minutes while you’re onboard from start to finish in these stranger times. Outside of covid, the air-conditioning and air filtration begins from the moment the engines are started.

      George Botley (1st Officer), I assume that you know what you are talking about. I'm just use to the pilot turning on the air a few minutes before taxi-ing. Glad to know that they run the air system the whole time, while passengers are in the planes during this pandemic. Thanks for the info.
