On the shores of East Anglia, the Danes arrive, commanding a host of heathens at their back, they take over half of England. Their influence would be felt for the next two centuries. But soon a Duke from Normandy would become the next king of England in the tumultuous year of 1066
MUSIC
Epidemic Sound
Danheim
I apologise to the 90% of commenters I triggered with my incorrect pronunciation of Plantagenet.
Can you make a video about the history of christianity (its beginnings, the Edict of Niceia, the protestant reformation, etc)
Can you also make a video about History of Morocco
The animated of history usa
How did you come up with the channel name is your surname Sweeney?
DID YOU KNOW ENGLISH KING CANUT THE GREAT WAS NEPHEW OF POLISH KING BOLESLAW THE BRAVE AND HE AND HIS BROTHER LATER GO TO POLAND WHERE HE LIVES AFTER HER EXILE FROM DANISH KINGDOM CANUT TAKES HER TO ENGLAND (IF WE CAN TO BELIEVE MEDIEVAL SOURCES
England has such a rich history. Would be interesting for you to do a part 3 on England's modern history. So much to cover from the Tudors, Stuarts, English Cvil War, Restoration, Georgian, Regency, Victorian, etc. Not even mentioning the massive empire and navy.
Y Do i get a feeling that You are american
Britain sucks
@@RandomSwedishGuy y do u get that feeling?
Why england have the crusade flag
@@redaait9561it was flown in the hundred years war because st George is a warrior saint
England is here
Vikings: *It's free real estate*
:-0
Yes but they didn’t realize they would pay with their lives.
This is what you get when youtubers put quality in their videos.
Wow, the animation quality is increasing :))
"Min" it mean "Ad-Min" :)
Hello
Tumben sepi ni :v
I love the animation, I love british english, I love the way the narrator presents the history, I love all on this channel
my gf is english
Love the Berserker on Stanford Bridge, he held back the Saxon Army long enough, so the Norse could get Battle ready.
Awesome Video Suibhne!
That unnamed warrior is one of the most badass ever
Norwegians*
@@randomname5083 yes, of course!
@Supernova Cinnamon saxons were pussies compared to vikings.
@@midlifecrisis9151 According to television maybe.
Dude that text you read in old english is sooo easy to understand if you know german ❤ i enjoyed it actually ❤❤ keep up the great work !!
As an English and Dutch speaker i found old English also really easy to understand
England has an interesting and rich history 🇬🇧🏴
This channel is just getting better and BETTER
Still need to do history of wales
Also, keep up the good work. You are one of my favorite history channels.
Ah Richard that had the heart of a lion... and a lifetime ban from every single zoo.
Really good work. Pacing is great. Thanks for this.
A note on the Coats of Arms: the English arms were changed in 1380 in line with the French arms going from Azure Semee d'lis Or (blue with fleur d'lis strewn on the field) to Azure three Fleur d'lis 2 and 1(blue with 3 Fleur d'lis 2 on top one below)
Suibhne is one of the Really Good UA-camrs That take their time fixing bugs in his video and making it perfect
Great quality video. Can't wait others as your way of breaking down history is entertaining, informative yet simple enough that some teachers could use it to help students study topic projects.
Sorry, lost train of thought lol, hope to see a part 3 maybe, or Wales, or Korea either way I know I'll enjoy it ^-^
Plantag-enet, not Plantan-agent.
this triggered me so bad
Plantaaaaaaaaa-ge-net
oop I just commented the same thing before noticing yours.
Hey at least he got the spelling right 😅
I saw a lecture recently where the professor kept pronouncing Geoffrey as Joffrey, over and over and over and over again.
I had to stop watching.
@@onbedoeldekut1515 If the prof was British, then Joffrey might have been correct. For example: Ralph pronounced as Rafe, Bovey Tracey as Buvvy Tracey, Worcestershire as Wuss-tershire, etc. Plantagenet, however, is not Plantan-agent in any nation -- not even Australia, where I was schooled.
New favorite channel. Keep them coming. Frm New Zealand
I love how your maps show the historical great work called 'De afsluitdijk' closing of the Ijsselmeer in The Netherlands. But it was build slightly after the Viking age in 1933.
Soz 🤷♂️
I love your animation it really matches with the history
When is part 3 coming
Do a video about Bulgaria! Awesome video as always! :)
You've done Ireland, Scotland, and England, are you going to do Wales as well?
Wales is England
@@yesssyeppp3852 technically in the modern world all 3 are (against what most people want) ruled over by English supremacy in the UK. But Wales is still as seperate from England as Scotland or N.Ireland, just it doesn't care as much for independence.
@@2timesvegas501 Doesn't care as much about independence? Our history suggests otherwise, and the recent political movements towards it also suggest otherwise.
@@JackGamer193 Yo Mum suggests otherwise
@@2timesvegas501 english supremacy?
Yes you're back!
Great work! Please make videos about Greece!
History of Sweden part 2, I need it!
Suibhne, I hope someday you do a history of Switzerland. Especially given its famous neutrality, yet some maps I've seen make it look like its borders have moved regardless.
MAKE PART 3!
You should do the animated history of Morocco or South Africa. Love your videos!
Please make history of Norway🇳🇴
6:34 i love the canterbury tales
Can you make an animated video about Greek history, that would be so cool?!
stumbled across your videos. Love them! The people remind me of weeble wobbles. :)
a good video. thank you
England : we invaded you, France
France : No we invaded ourselves !
technically the Normans were more Scandinavians than French
@@Agent_Ste They were thoroughly mixed with the local population by that time. Many of the Scandinavian settlers were men, who married local women. I wouldn't say they were more Scandinavian.
@@docjw8914 good point
@@Agent_Ste William himself was only 15% Scandinavian, when we look at his genealogical tree
@@Agent_Ste In 911 surely, but in 1066, it was already more difficult to differentiate the Normans from the Franks, since they were already more or less assimilated with them.
Whether in terms of language, mixed marriages (therefore a mixture of DNA), Trade, dress style and facial look, the Art of War (EX: Chivalry, where the Vikings fought on foot ), and most importantly Religion, etc ...
Thank you professor for providing such a piece of pure information about the history of the world, Kindly make such a video based on Great Indian history. I hope you will respond.
Still not done, needs a part 3 lol
England: *Rule Britannia*
Natives: Where is that dank boss music coming from?
Britain is different to England
Bro would love to see you make a video on alexander the great and also ashoka
You totally left out the war of the roses.
3:07 the lone axeman
very nice video though there are way too much ads in it!! :( The historical part could be a lot longer with a bit more details! :/
But I also like the quality and the style! :)
Good animation.
I love this story
Is it complete? Do you plan on making history of Britain/England part 3
When's part 3 coming out?
Nice use of thorn.
Do one on Cornwall please
Not sure London is closer to Normandy than Winchester :D
Love the content. One obvious error. William nor any of the Normans trasferred the capital from Winchester to London. Winchester remained the capital in Winchester castle which held the treasury and the Doomsday book for nearly 100 years.
*also Winchester is closer than London to Normandy
Suibne: History of England Part 2
1399-2020: Am I a joke to you?
you should go to the vike festivle at lindisfarne
Do Greece!!!!
Nice video. Please make you Czech history.
Want a part 3!!!!!
This channel is criminally undersubbed
Never forget to acknowledge how the strong and brave vikings came ashore and saved the wonderful relics from the fire at Lindisfarne after all the monks suddenly died!
See not all vikings are evil!
Lol ;D
History of England part III?
I am an American, and I know so much of this, history, I am able to count the rulers of England from Harthcnut to Queen Elizabeth II in chronological order, better then my American Presidents!
Aymara Fan yep I’m with you
Please make one about the Netherlands
Is there a part 3 ?
I think that most rational explanation for Robin Hood was "Rogue Hood" what basically was John Doe of medieval times. In sheriff registries all unknown criminals were written that way, what though ignoramus reach status of the legend about super-criminal Robin Hood who rob everywhere and never was cough. And because everyone hated government, it become national hero.
history with hillbert might be able to help u with that lad he goes to some of the events give him a message
What is the music that starts at 1:59?
I have the same question and I'm scrolling through the comments to find answers 😩
could you make the animated history of Portugal
Awesome video! But do make sure the coasts of the Netherlands and Belgium are actually what they used to be then.
Plantanegents?
2 things to say:
1. Love this channel! One of the many people I watch to learn about history.
2. Over Sarcastic Productions just released a trope talk video on Robin Hood if anyone is interested.
3. Keep up the good work!
Pls do a history of England 🏴 part 3 then a history of Britain 🇬🇧 which is the same history only Britain 🇬🇧 is a thing also pls refer to the British islands after 1704 as Britain 🇬🇧 and the British islands before 1704 as England 🏴 and Scotland 🏴 pls.
A: the plantagenet dynasty was founded by matilda and her son henry ii
b: plantaneget
its been more than 2 years since wedid not get part 3
William the Bastard becomes William the conqueror. Love that one
Britannia Rule the Waves edition when?
Casual massive Vikings spoiler at the beginning.
0:35 these kinds of blowhorns were typical of the nordic bronze age, not late iron age
Make The Animated History of England Part 3
As the first light touched the waves
When the ravens cawed across the bay
A mighty fleet with red white sails
Three hundred Viking ships were on their way.
WAAAAAARRRRR!
With a thirst for blood and all out war
A thirst that's aching through our hearts and bones
We're heading west to distant shores
To avenge our father and to win the throne
Man I love the old English👍👌. It sounds so great😀.
Sounds abit terrifying that its English
King Richard didn’t actually enter into the Robin Hood story until much, much later because the earliest Attested author wanted him to be in the story. Earlier versions of Robin Hood mention Kind Edward far more often than Richard I ever was.
And it’s pronounced Plan-taj-en-it
Other than that, great video!
Well, in french, we'd rather say : "Plan-ta-jeunay"...😜
"Will you ever finish the Denmark and Sweden episodes?"
*No, I don't think I will*
Some day
Suibhne Thank you, I am looking forward to it. Especially the danish episode!! :)
Can you do one about history of Korea?
Sweden part 2 plz
Vikings are dope.
Sweden is melting down viking artifacts. Because europian artifacts are racits dont you know.
@Supernova Cinnamon yea the vikings by themselves were great warriors and adventurers but thats about it. They had to learn everything else
When is the history of Sweden part 2 coming?
@chris olsen or it didn't get a lot of views so he decided not to waste time.... But either way he should do tge 2nd part of Sweden and Denmark.
@@EneSacarification lmao im a boy😂😂😂
3:00 reee What about Edgar Aethling?
History of Denmark part 2?
Those guys were PlantaGEnets. At least history remembers them as such. But overall great video.
You gave an unfair and pretty simple view of King John, he didn't sign the Magna Carta by choice, he did it by force. His expensive wars with France were expensive because Richard had emptied the treasury to pay for his Crusade
At the start put Poland at the pictures too
Where's the part 3
I really, really like middle English
Why is Dover castle in the background? it would be built for another 200 years...
This story picks up too late on, the History of England should start with the Rise of the Anglo-Saxons.
That’s part one,you idiot,read the title
🏴🏴🏴🏴❤️❤️🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧 Amazing history and culture!
Pt.3?
Make England part 3 Tudors Stuart’s and Georgian
Plz do an animated history of Iran or Persia. Thanks
Yay England 🏴
you say Plantanegent but it's Plantagenet 😅 not gonna lie that's a pretty forgivable mistake lol. Weird ass name either way!
Jesse H. Lol it’s from Planta(plant) Genista.. a broom plant, Geoffrey V of Anjou was said to wear one on his hat or shirt
