Mike Spearwood In the last decade, everything MotoGP has done, has been to make racing closer and facilitate passing. Every rule they brought in, electronics packages, tyre packages.. every single rule has been made to make close racing. Now we have 360kmh machines that at the end of most races, the podium is split by less than a second.. in that time, F1 has shit its pants worse with every passing day. My point is, that F1 is NOT racing. They don’t pass and they make pit stops. This is timed durability testing. If every penalty they handed out was a pass, F1 would be the most exciting form of racing on the planet. As it stands, I’d prefer to slam my cock in a car door than sit through an F1 weekend.
Mike Spearwood
In the last decade, everything MotoGP has done, has been to make racing closer and facilitate passing.
Real racing is flag to flag, they pass on track, and the machine doesn’t do 80% of the job for you.
@@samblack5313 I agree with your point. To be fair though, it's a lot easier to overtake with bikes than F1 cars. The problem with F1 is that:
1. They race on too many skinny street circuits with cars that are too wide.
2. F1 has always been a competition between constructors: engineering/innovation as much as the drivers themselves. This leads to not only dominant seasons, but dominant eras as we see right now with the Mercedes.
The footage from Zonta's car is just WOW
I forgot that this overtake took place in the last stages of the race. But for sure, this will remain the best overtake in F1 history.
daniricc
Aren’t there like 3 overtakes in the history of the sport?!
Post USADA Barao Lol
WEEBBREAKER did you watch any race in the last 100 years
ozan özenir
I’ve tried.. 45 minutes into the penalty listings after FP1, I lose my patience.
WEEBBREAKER why dont you just try to watch a race for real. You just sound like an idiot
i've watched this clip so many times and I still hold my breath every time Mika goes for that move....shivers...what a pass!
I watched this live. This is the pass that made me a fan, and I've been watching ever since.
I don't know how many times I watched this, but I know as one of the best onboards of entire F1 history. The car, the driver, the sound engine, the season, the track. Every piece of this video that the simply... ART.
Remember watching the race live and as a big Mika fan the moment it happen my living room became a mess... everything flew.. plates glasses pillows... everything... better than a goal in injury time.. one of the most monumental scenes of F1... Great Mika...🇫🇮🇫🇮🇫🇮
Nice comment :)
Liberty Media I love you...
Big Boss 2 quick uploads :)
I miss Bernie :((
Big Boss There were several onboard footages before them, so nothing special.
This is how the USA conquers the world: with foolish people through the media.
USA is just a tool.
Stormy Molnjavichen b
Ahhhh memories classic battling. Love it
The feeling of speed from this camera setup is unreal. Watching that car move around like that at those speeds is just breathtaking. Peak f1
The best overtake i have ever seen in F1! Legendary!
Still totally etched my mind to this day. Remember watching it live. Hakkinen easily my favourite of all time at his absolute peak in such a golden age for F1. Now a days it's just the Lewis Hamilton show. It's dull as dishwater but just look at this clip, the technique and the utter balls on Hakkinen to even go for that move coming up to Les Combes and to use a back marker to his advantage. Just poetry in motion to watch it. As for the sound of that engine? Incredible!
I suggest getting back into mate, were on the cusp of a new generation of very impressive drivers
the slickest overtake of all time. 02:07, lining up for the slipstream, waiting for his overtake then attacking from opposite side. pure brilliance.
it was the best time of F1, the 90s with its V12 engines and the beginning of the 2000s with the 10 cylinders, naturally aspirated, beautiful sound!
Best overtake ever
The Best is Piquet on Senna 1986 Hungary...
Big Boss For me Piquet vs Senna was a great overtake, but I prefer this one
:O
Yeah... Sure, this is one of the greatest.
this overtake was awesome because in his first try mika couldn´t pass because of a little dirty driving but then in second try he managed to trick schumacher and went on the inside
2:13 the moment everyones jaw drops
How i miss this F1. Mika my favourite Driver of all time!
Gran duelo entre Mika y Michael , de lo mejor después de Prost y Senna grades épocas de la F1
Yeah he was great. Not my personal favorite driver but definitely up there!
Mine too. Miss him so much.
This was Formula 1 at its finest, Schumacher v Hakkinen, Ferrari v McLaren, iconic tracks and the best wheel to wheel racing
Keep fighting Michael 🇩🇪🇩🇪🇩🇪🏎️🏎️🏎️🐐🐐🐐
And best looking cars!
Relatively simple, beautiful looking and sounding cars. The cars of 2023 look like a bus mated with a fighter plane.
This is what made me love Formula 1, make me get up at 5-6 in the morning to watch a race. I have no reason to watch Formula 1 now even if it was on tv by chance.. I miss this, never loved any sport as I did this, especially watching the underdog Mika Hakkinen is the best feeling you could ever get from watching tv.
00:16. How they didn't touch and Mika braking almost on the white line is astounding.
1:17vcan we appreciate Mika going flat out and not lifting in these corners
Simply the best overtake in f1 history💗💗💗💪💪💪
The way Mika nailed Bus-stop and La Source to get in the tow is breathtaking.
This is THE best overtake in Formula 1.
Loads of childhood memories associated to this one.
One of best overtaking f1 history. Cool Hakkinen
9 years old when this happened and I watched live! Damn this one is one the best overtakes ever #KeepFightingMichael
The Spa's old layout was so much more beutiful than the actual one
The only diference is the chicane in the last sector
@@igoraraujo7740 yep..that Bus stop
Rebuild the Bus stop Chicane! The real Spa. I missed so much.
The starting grid was on a bend though, it was dangerous. Same with the old Silverstone, that's why they moved the start to the long straight there.
I saw this as 8 year old and remember it to this day. One of the best overtakes in F1.
Schumacher feared Mika. I can see why. What a legend. Both of them.
I like the old bus stop than the new one anyone else agree?
I agree
Hamza Iqbal I agree
Hamza Iqbal New Bus Stop is better for overtaking.
And I prefer the old chicane than the new one
I like the old cars
Beautiful footage, thanks for putting it up F1 👍
This is simply history... Students had to study this at school in their books...
but i'm a chemistry major
“I overtook the Michael.”
😄
😂
Is correct?
".....yes.."
Its amazing and hilarious how Mika lifts his hand off the wheel and makes a gesture of displeasure.
He does it twice! Once as the shady one blocks Mika on the brakes into the chicane and again going through the chicane..... class.
The most beautiful overtake of F1's history.
Back in the days where a McLaren could overtook someone...
Alonso overtook the 2 Williams in Spain
not overtaken by someone
and that someone is Michael in a Ferrari
isn't there lapping these days? I'm so out of the loop, last time I properly watched F1 was like..07?
Overtake my friend.
"I overtook the Michael" - Mika Hakkinen
Me: "Why is it fast forwarded?" Oh. it isn't. These people are insane.
not sorry to burst your 'old days was heroic shit' bubble but todays cars lap 10 seconds faster.
@@marble25 But the cars are extremely safe
Safer than the cars of 2000? They just have halo and that's only recently introduced.
@@marble25 This days pussies drive like crazy because they KNOW the cars are almost perfectly safe even to crash from high speeds. Drivers like Verstappen have that style because they never had danger when driving.
@@marble25 In modern F1 racing they don't have to take one hand off the steering wheel/yoke.
Loved Mika. His smirk at the press conference afterwards, saying Michael probably didn't enjoy the overtake, is priceless.
Best rivalry in the early 2000 late 90s
Eau Rouge #NoLift
I'm pretty sure I heard Mika lift the throttle a teeny bit there.
Indeed he did
He said he didn't.
But Mika did lift in this video
bitterboyblue no, thats just the engine having to push the car uphill
We need that Zonta onboard footage! Just imagine being him and bäm! Cars flying left an right
ua-cam.com/video/n7SitEde5vM/v-deo.html
Greatest strategic pass in F1 history. 2 drivers that greatly respected each other and gave (arguably) the best on track battles in any F1 era.
