LOVE the Sahara, one of the few properties on the strip that still offers a great sense of value and luxury all in one albeit its a little small it still offers amazing restaurants, cheap clean rooms, and of course FREE PARKING!
Wonderful video Jordan! I stayed at the original Sahara back in the early 80's before I became a Caesars Palace customer. It does my heart good to see a renaissance of this classic property! Thank you again for your informative videos and the high quality of your work!
Stayed here a year ago. Was shocked at the place. Got breakfast and had the best shrimp and grits I've had in years. Perfect place for a base for trips to hoover damn and grand canyon with the free parking. Gorgeous port Cochere. Monorail right there to get you to the strip. Super cheap. Party pool. Would definitely stay again.
Great job on the Sahara review, glad you found the property a nice place to stay. I thought you'd like it as I mentioned on your 3-tier rating review. Your Marra King was quite different than the several we've had. Ours have had the window above a table and two chairs (not behind the bed), a much longer desk area (without the off-kilter top), only one large LED surround mirror in the bedroom area, a long bench/ottoman at the end of the bed (not the white couch), and a small lit vanity area w/ shelves (not the wet bar area in your room). The bathroom was the only thing that was the same, and our beds have been quite comfortable, not overly firm, maybe yours was an anomaly?? Glad you liked the main pool area, they did a nice job w/ that. The overall condition of the property is quite upscale and glad you emphasized it's a higher end property than the cost would indicate. The gambling has been pretty good for us since my wife likes the newer slots and I play video poker at the bar-tops in the upper bar and the electronic craps & roulette are decent w/ low minimums. I find it funny they have the same live roulette minimums w/ the double zero & triple zero wheels, and both tables running at the same time w/ 3-5 players at each table instead of all of them playing the much better double zero game lol. One advantage about the unaffiliated slot club, they are generous w/ room comps and have decent gift giveaways such as hoodies and other cool gear. At any rate, appreciate all you do for us Vegas fans, keep up the great job and always look forward to your new content!
Con #2 is the biggest reason i havent stayed there or at Circa, but both are on my list to stay one day. Glad i got to see what it actually looks like tho 👍🏾
since you are starting to come around on the monorail, how about a video on which hotels that have stations need the least amount of walking to get on the monorail, maybe help people to use it more
We love Sahara and their comps are phenomenal. We haven't paid for a room at Sahara in probably 5 years. The room you stayed in was actually an older room that hasn't been renovated yet. The renovated rooms in the Marra tower are very nice and more on the boujee side. Granted, we typically are upgraded to the Alexandria tower now, but I'm never disappointed when we are put in one of the new Marra rooms. We love the quieter location, and easy access we can to other places down the strip with the monorail. We walk over to Fountainebleu, Resorts World or Wynn if we want to eat something different. Sometimes go eat at the top of the Strat. Sahara is definitely our favorite!!
I keep saying time and time again that people are really missing out when they obsess over location, location, LOCATION when planning their Vegas trips. While Eldorado-era Caesars Entertainment continue to cut corners and costs to exploit visitors and emaciate them in terms of value (or lack thereof) and justify their anti-consumer policies by just pointing to the fact their centralized location raws them like moths to a flame.............others like Sahara, Rio and various downtown Las Vegas casinos are making decisive strides to maximizing value for their guests and thus enhanced experiences. Sahara is by far the most underrated Strip resort. I really think its prior partnership with the W in part explains why it has a lot of moxie and considerable tastes of luxury considering it's a budget resort. I just always enjoy my time there. 😊 I keep saying that I liken Sahara as the Elton John or Dolly Parton of the Strip. What do I mean by that exactly? Even though both Elton John and Dolly Parton are obviously past their commercial peaks as entertainers, they still remain highly culturally relevant and beloved to this day with the former achieving this via collecting another couple of Top Ten hits on the Billboard Hot 100 with some of his older songs being rearranged by DJ/producers so that they almost feel like brand new songs over these past several years.........and the latter still being covered frequently by artists across all genres of music and Parton even recording brand new vocals for their covers. So much like those two do take pride in their experience and where they're at in their lives, they still look and sound cool, fresh and youthful to younger generations of listeners and music fans.............and Sahara is much the same way where, despite being the second-oldest resort as far as original hotel site is concerned on the Strip (only behind Flamingo) and embracing its history and legacy.............it also looks and feels modern, somewhat elegant and youthful. 😊
I stayed there back in March. I booked it through Delta, because Amex gives me a $200 travel credit with my card. I paid $70 a night for the Blanca Junior Suite. One of the pit bosses got my resort fee waived after I gambled a certain amount. I also took the RTA bus from the airport to Sahara. Being from NYC, I’m used to taking public transportation & walking to get around.
I really enjoyed the Sahara last year, small and the dealers are very nice. I visit Vegas about 6-7 times a year but most likely would not go back just because of the location. Loved the background music on this one guys... :)
Okay, IMO this is absolutely THE channel to watch re. everything Vegas. I’ve checked them all…..you cannot find a more thorough, more truthful venue to learn all there is to learn about Vegas tourism. Five Stars!
I would totally stay at the Sahara. Even with the tiny hotel pool, it's like an oasis from the crowded strip. I just hope the rooms and the casino floor aren't smokey.I would want a room with bigger windows or more windows though, that small room with the window above the bed it's a little claustrophobic to me.
Thanks for the great info, what a hidden gem! Didn't give the Sahara a second thought (heck didn't think about it once) but will def have to check it out next time we're there.
Loved our stay at the Sahara EXCEPT for the bed!! You are so right, awful.. Top 2 worst beds anywhere I've stayed. I even called in the middle of the night to see if they had a better pillow. Off to Target the next day for a pillow that wasn't a brick! Even a $7 Target pillow was a HUGE improvement and made the rest of our nights bearable. Other than that, I'd definitely stay again.
I'm an "old school" Vegas guy (first visit 1988) and I love that the Sahara is back in, what appears to be, fine form. I might stay for nostalgia's sake, but I'm not keen on the location, so it might just be a visit for gambling and dining. Thank you for the video and review!
@@ShowMeVegasI'm confused. I haven't been to LV in probably 25 years. This Sahara, isn't located where the Sahara built in the 50s was located, is it? I thought I read that there's a completely different hotel now, on the spot where the original 1952 Sahara was built near Sahara Boulevard. 😊
I’m confused by the question, yes it is exactly the original Sahara site. The towers are the same towers that have always been there. They completely gutted them and took down and rebuilt much of the casino but it is the same site.
Can confirm those awesome touches of history. In 2021, we stayed at a center strip hotel but took the Monorail to Sahara and then walked back (it’s a hike!). Great video, and how awesome is Bazaar Meat? (Category “Life-changing”!)
I don’t know if you knew this, but Chickie’s & Pete’s is a Philadelphia based restaurant. They’re mostly in Philadelphia & South Jersey. The food prices are also less expensive in Philly & Jersey.
Sahara is also walking distance to the Las Vegas fairgrounds where most music festivals are held, so its a great location if you are attending a festival! From personal experience though, it will not be a 'budget' hotel on a festival weekend and prices will be much higher than usual! But you'll save alot of money on ubers to the festival/festival traffic hassle, and you can easily take the monorail to mid-strip!
I've heard people say that the downtown loop is very close to the Sahara so if you want to explore down there it's very close to hop on the free downtown loop bus
I stayed there in 2017 when it was the SLS - I had a great stay and also a great room with a mirror on the ceiling. the room you had is also a SLS room. i would stay at sahara ANYTIME despite the location
Great review of the Sahara! I stayed there when it was an absolute dump, but we stayed in the Presidential suite which was huge but very outdated. I was all in to give it a try until you said the bed was horrible. I wouldn’t stay there on account of that alone. However, I would be down to try some of those restaurants in there. Your food looked great!
@dianeschroeder3980 We stay at Sahara 5-6 times a year. He must have just gotten a bad bed. He was definitely in an older room that hasn't been updated yet. We've never had a bad bed or sleep. I've only had one room that I didn't like my pillows, but the decorative pillow was perfect, so I used it instead. Other than that, we've always had very nice comfy beds... and I'm super finicky.
32139. 21st floor. Probably building 3. 2139 being the room number for that building. The first number probably helps the front desk know what building your room is in. My guess at least. 🤷🏻♂️
Oh man. I also visited the old Sahara right before it closed (didn't stay there, just walked in to check it out before it shut down for good). There was an ANCIENT bartender at one of the video poker bars who had been employed there since the mid-1960s. His hour's worth of stories about the heyday of that property was the only redeeming part of that afternoon. You picked the right word for that place; it was a complete and utter DUMP. I honestly couldn't wait to leave the place; I was feeling some bad juju.
Stayed there ounce a few years back. The property is beautiful. The room small but very nice. Good service. The drawback is the terrible location and total sketchballs that hang around the north end of the strip.
thanks for the awesome video. honestly i thought the sls rooms were all remodeled by now but i guess not. your marra tower room i think is awful.we have stayed thee 3 years in a row in the marra style rooms. i thought all the marra tower rooms were supposed to be renovated to the marra style renovation. the beds are not blocking the windows anymore. the new rooms are just awesome. i hated sls and still do.. their rooms sucked. the casino was ugly and had no ceiling, im happy they sold it to merlou who made this plave beautiful!!!!!cheers
I really like Sahara, it's a lovely modern hotel, very reasonably priced just in a poor location. The only down side for me is they are closing their poker room for yet more boring slot machines.
Yeah that seems to be the consensus. No other Vegas hotel does it this way though. Seems simply remembering the floors would avoid a lot of confusion. Thanks for watching!
Hadn't been since way back when it was the old Sahara. Went to go to Bazaar Meat, and really liked the remodel. Very good job. Thought about doing a couple days there to start or end a trip, but they announced Bazaar Meats is moving to Palazzo....and that was the main draw for me. Rooms looked ok, but kind of underwhelming. Great video though!
The sls looked super cheap. Like when a place like Nashville all of a sudden puts up a bunch of apartments. They may say "luxury" but they look super cheap and thrown together, hoping either the decor, the amenities or both can distract you from cheap thin walls and ho hum rooms. The sahara looks much better
All pools are used by all kinds of people, regardless of "open to the public" or not. I personally do not use any type of pool, private, open to the public, I always get a trash.
I was just there last week. Nice hotel, but… Shower water pressure was weak and water was not hot. Also, we complained the air conditioning was not cold enough, we had to call maintenance. Did you have that problem? 😟
You're right, I forgot. They were fantastic, although I would recommend the plain crab fries instead. The lobster fries had both crab and lobster, but the crab meat was better. The fries themselves were excellent and so was the cheese sauce!
Question regarding plannin: if you book MGM or Caesars room through plannin are you still going to be eligible to be collecting possible comps/rewards for said MGM/Caesar's properties?
You will not earn tier credits on your room rate, but those are pretty minimal anymore anyway. If you present your player’s card at check in you should still earn credits on your resort fee and any room charges. Hope this helps!
I don’t like videos like this because it could cause more people to head to Sahara and cause them to raise their prices and run down the resort. I love Sahara just as it is. Shhhh 🤫 Excellent video btw.
This property isn't that big. Good history of the property. The Sahara is not huge, but, it did have some good places to eat and the casino is good. Probably would not want to stay here. The neighborhood isn't that good. Am subscribed to your channel. You make some good videos. Do like some of the older slot machines. Like pizza. Ah a Mirage shirt. First time to Las Vegas we stayed there a few months after it opened. Excalibur went down after Circus Circus sold it. Like video poker and old school slots. Fashion Show Mall is nice. Not close to a Boyd Hotel/Casino.
Sorry but Sahara is too far from center strip, not connected to any other resorts, bad area, etc. it’s the same problem with fountainblu and resorts world. Went to both a couple times and will probably never go back. I stay center strip and prefer that area because it’s where all the action is at and u can easily walk from one casino to the next
Different strokes for different folks. I mentioned it does feel isolated especially at night but I think the monorail is a big mitigating factor. Thanks for watching!
@@ShowMeVegas I understand. It just sucks because if fountainblu, Sahara and resorts world were center strip , they’d be so much better and would compete with the top center strip resort. Hopefully after hard rock they demolish flamingo, hurrahs, casino royale area and treasure island. Idk why it takes so long to build a resort. I assumed hard rock would be done in a year lol
@@SAsh-zg6lnWhy in the world should they take down Flamingo and Harrah's? I love both of those hotels. They're true original Vegas hotels and actually great to stay at. I hope they stay and no more mega resorts come in. They're running what Vegas was. There's enough of the mega resorts already to choose from. These places are the only icons left on the strip. Vegas is my 2nd home. We've stayed all over the strip, off strip, downtown, etc... keep the originals, just do a little updating. Nothing more is needed.
@SAsh-zg6ln they can easily keep up with times with renovations. I've stayed in both of these hotels and they were fine. Comfy beds, plenty of food options, gaming options etc. The strip has actually ruined the LV experience by building all the way to the street. You have to walk up and over, and through retail to get to a casino. You no longer see the beauty of lights and the hotels/ casinos. I could care less about the Walgreens, Starbucks, Ross, etc that they've built out front. Have those businesses, but build them into the hotel so that's not the view of the strip, it's just cluttered. There's no need for more mega resorts in the middle. Just renovate what's there, and build the new in the more open spots. I'm pleased they're finally doing that with the additions of Resorts World and Fountainebleu. They've really cleaned up that end of the strip. Once they fill in the small lot between Sahara and Fountainebleu (with the possible new basketball stadium/ casino), it'll boost it even more.
That shirt was an eBay purchase! It’s truly vintage. Originally came from the Mirage gift shop as it has a Mirage tag inside! As for what’s next? Three more hotel reviews on tap but I can’t let the cat out of the bag just yet!
That seems to be the consensus. They probably should tell people that when they check in. Or do what literally every other hotel does and just change the floor numbers between the towers. Thanks for watching!
Great video Jordan! Good thing the self proclaimed mattress princess wasn't with you if that bed was that bad!! And those room walls.... it looks like a 3 year old went wild with a black magic marker! Not sure I could stay in that room for too many nights. 😂 lol
Yeah, Jordan's room was different than the Marra King rooms we've had, ours had a much longer desk and the window wasn't behind the bed, along w/ other differences. Ours have been more of a traditional type setup, and more user friendly.
The rooms with the weird wall art that appeals to drugged up cat ladies from LA, those are a holdover from the SLS remodel I believe, and they are terrible. The newer remodels are pretty good and the hotel is small but pretty good.
They have a LOT of different room types. To my knowledge this room was an SLS holdover and there aren’t a lot of this type left. The Alexandria tower has some WEIRD rooms and the Blanca king is a really odd layout. All in all, a mixed bag for sure.

I liked those old SLS World tower rooms, but the new Marra Style rooms are much better.
thanks for the awesome video. honestly i thought the sls rooms were all remodeled by now but i guess not. your marra tower room i think is awful.we have stayed thee 3 years in a row in the marra style rooms. i thought all the marra tower rooms were supposed to be renovated to the marra style renovation. the beds are not blocking the windows anymore. the new rooms are just awesome. i hated sls and still do.. their rooms sucked. the casino was ugly and had no ceiling, im happy they sold it to merlou who made this plave beautiful!!!!!cheers
SLS was weird for sure. A swing and a miss…
A diamond in the rough
Gotta say I agree!
I really like Sahara, it's a lovely modern hotel, very reasonably priced just in a poor location. The only down side for me is they are closing their poker room for yet more boring slot machines.
First number on room represents which tower
Yeah that seems to be the consensus. No other Vegas hotel does it this way though. Seems simply remembering the floors would avoid a lot of confusion. Thanks for watching!
Hadn't been since way back when it was the old Sahara. Went to go to Bazaar Meat, and really liked the remodel. Very good job. Thought about doing a couple days there to start or end a trip, but they announced Bazaar Meats is moving to Palazzo....and that was the main draw for me. Rooms looked ok, but kind of underwhelming. Great video though!
Rooms are a mixed bag for sure. The rest of the resort is very nice!
Definitely check Sahara out for a stay. He was in an older room that hasn't been renovated yet. The new rooms are very very nice and upscale.
@ this room was an original SLS room, so it was remodeled in 2014.
Love 🇺🇸! Only place where a mega resort with more than 1500 rooms is considered small 😂😂🎉🎉🎉
Yep. About half the size of the average Vegas strip hotel…
Not a chance I go to an "open to the public" pool in Las Vegas. LOL
All pools are used by all kinds of people, regardless of "open to the public" or not. I personally do not use any type of pool, private, open to the public, I always get a trash.
I was just there last week. Nice hotel, but…
Shower water pressure was weak and water was not hot. Also, we complained the air conditioning was not cold enough, we had to call maintenance. Did you have that problem? 😟
Interesting, what tower? I had great pressure and instantly hot water. Almost too hot in the sink! A/C was fine but the weather wasn’t hot hot.
How were the lobster fries? I don’t recall you giving an opinion…
You're right, I forgot. They were fantastic, although I would recommend the plain crab fries instead. The lobster fries had both crab and lobster, but the crab meat was better. The fries themselves were excellent and so was the cheese sauce!
It’s not about how cheap the room is. It’s about the $50 in resort fee daily. That’s why I don’t stay anywhere unlesss it’s comped
@@NayaWrap the cost of the room is the cost of the room no matter how they choose to break it down. The final cost of $95 is still a great deal.
@@ShowMeVegas my final cost is 0. I don’t pay no resort fees
@@NayaWrap that’s great. What’s that have to do with whether or not Sahara is a good budget hotel?
Question regarding plannin: if you book MGM or Caesars room through plannin are you still going to be eligible to be collecting possible comps/rewards for said MGM/Caesar's properties?
You will not earn tier credits on your room rate, but those are pretty minimal anymore anyway. If you present your player’s card at check in you should still earn credits on your resort fee and any room charges. Hope this helps!
Does this hotel has a monorail that can take you to the airport?
@@CeoofLasVegasandclarkcounty no. It has a monorail stop, but the monorail does not go to the airport.
I don’t like videos like this because it could cause more people to head to Sahara and cause them to raise their prices and run down the resort. I love Sahara just as it is. Shhhh 🤫
Excellent video btw.
Thanks for watching!
Bazar moving travel ruby provides the details.
Yeah, I knew it but I wanted to try it out before the move. The bartender said the new location will be up and running by the end of March.
Umm… the mirrors might have a singularly unique appeal.
I don’t know what you’re getting at… 😜
This property isn't that big.
Thanks as always!
@@stacystone6868 very simple. Gotta keep up with the times. The strip has and will always continue updating. If u want old Vegas, u can go to Fremont.
Hey Ashden and Jordan! Another great video Jordan! Love the Mirage t-shirt! Where did you purchase it? Curious which hotel you're staying at next!
That shirt was an eBay purchase! It’s truly vintage. Originally came from the Mirage gift shop as it has a Mirage tag inside!
As for what’s next? Three more hotel reviews on tap but I can’t let the cat out of the bag just yet!
@@ShowMeVegas Wow! Major score on that t-shirt!👌 Hell yeah! Looking forward to your next hotel stays!!👍
Wasn’t it W hotel at some point, now Delano will be rebranded W hotel.
Not exactly. During the SLS days the Alexandria tower was a W branded hotel within the SLS property. Thanks for watching!
Maybe it was building three floor 21?
That seems to be the consensus. They probably should tell people that when they check in. Or do what literally every other hotel does and just change the floor numbers between the towers. Thanks for watching!
Great video Jordan! Good thing the self proclaimed mattress princess wasn't with you if that bed was that bad!! And those room walls.... it looks like a 3 year old went wild with a black magic marker! Not sure I could stay in that room for too many nights. 😂 lol
I loved the wallpaper. The bed? Not so much! Thanks for watching!
MAY 2024 ... had the opportunity to visit the property and walk around inside and found it attractive 🙂
best value hotel on the strip IMO but the room you stayed in is weird. their other rooms look pretty normal
The pictures of the Alexandria King and the Blanca King definitely don’t look normal. They have a lot of room types, though.
Yeah, Jordan's room was different than the Marra King rooms we've had, ours had a much longer desk and the window wasn't behind the bed, along w/ other differences. Ours have been more of a traditional type setup, and more user friendly.
Sahara is in the worst location. It is worth paying more to stay somewhere better.
The monorail stop makes it pretty convenient.
