Having a longer and stiffer rod will usually give you more sensitivity to feel out those nicer holes you may come upon. Be careful though, you may catch something that you didn't anticipate that could possibly cause you some pain if not handled correctly.
Great video Leo! I myself experienced that beautiful feeling when I landed one of the rarest species in the world, the Plesiops Nigricans, right below my feet between rocks!! I totally agree with this technique for multi-species anglers. Good luck!

If you wanna fluke fish off the surf In NJ you have to fish island beach state park. It is a special fluke zone so you can keep 2 fish at 16 instead of 3 fish at 18
The sore on that catfish may have come from a lamprey. A type of fish that looks like an eel with teeth designed to latch on to other fish for the purpose of feeding on their blood.
I only use one rig, a small (size 9 is what I usually use,sometimes larger) attached to 10-20cm line connected to a dual swivel (o-O-o) with a "free moving" ball or egg sinker on the main line (main line connected to the other side of the swivel) with squid or prawn as bait. cast and forget
Some idiot accused me of taking these Cunners (Bergals) as a baby taug. He even went as far as to calling a ranger too. The sucker told me "I've been fishing here everyday since I was 6, I know what these fish are, they are baby taugs." Little to no surprise, these aren't and he would of looked like a complete idiot if the ranger was there to witness it too. The ranger was very polite and seems like he loved his job as much as he loves the sport. I fish at Barnegat light in NJ too and this is where it happened. Can't wait to see that guy again and tell him how much of an idiot he was, not knowing his species and went as far as accusing me and called a ranger!
