  • Set amidst the euphoric madness of a summer music festival, Robot & Scarecrow is a uniquely modern fairytale about love. When a robot pop princess flees her keeper she runs straight into the arms of a lonely scarecrow desperate for adventure. They spend an incredible night together, caught in a heady vortex of music and magic.

    More About Robot & Scarecrow:
    Perched on a hill overlooking a music festival, our lonely Scarecrow is being tortured by crows. As he takes in the distant festival, it pushes him to change his fate. Filled with renewed strength, Scarecrow manages to uproot himself and sets off to experience first-hand what he has listened to every summer for years. What he finds at the festival, however, is far beyond what he expected.
    Backstage, we meet a lonely Robot pop princess with a dying battery cell. Knowing this is her last night of existence before being powered down, she escapes into the audience after her performance, hoping to spend her last few hours living a real life.
    Robot and Scarecrow, two lost and lonely souls in the middle of the beautiful chaos, stumble upon each other. They spend one glorious night together, exploring everything the festival has to offer, whilst quickly falling in love.
    By the time the dawn comes around they have had the perfect twenty-four hour party experience. But what Scarecrow doesn’t realise is that his new love’s battery is dying and as the sun is coming up, her life is fading fast.
    Maybe nothing this good can last forever... right?

    The quote at the end and the dedication to the filmmakers father really punched me in the gut. I get it man. I lost my dad really suddenly December 6th 2017. I spoke to him like any other Skype call, crazy thing was that the camera on his end just wouldn't work properly. So I could see and hear him and my mum, but they could only hear me, their grandkids , youngest not yet a year old and my partner. He even saw every person who he was friends with. Even the ones he hadn't seen in a while. Went to work, chilled out with the neighbors. Went to bed at11.20pm. 4.00,am my mum heard him making a gurgling sound I'm his sleep. Tried to wake him. His pulse was faint and his colour grey. My mum's a nurse and tried to save him but she already knew. 4\ mins later he died. The Canadian fire fighters and paramedics tried for a hour to get him back. It wasn't meant to be. I am forever thankful that I called him when I did. Never dreaming it was for the last time. I miss him everyday and that quote sums up how I feel everyday. 2017 started with the birth of youngest and last child who he saw hours after birth via Skype. And ended with me seeing him again in his casket and spreading his ashes in the ocean in Vancouver Canada. Massive thanks for this film. It ws beautiful. Love from London.x

    What a great short film. I felt sorry when he was torn apart and when her battery ran out. It served to illustrate the love they felt for each other in such a short time together. I was hoping he might take her to that large electronic billboard to obtain some power for her yet being a scarecrow, I doubt he would have the brainpower to engineer such a feat. Well done none-the-less!!

Will she still remember him when she 're-boots' with the new power source?
    She awakens..a puzzled look on her face, he crestfallen, starts to sag, just as everything comes flooding back to her..and she rewards him with a beautiful smile ;)

    Next year's (2019) Halloween goals: Scarecrow Guy & Robot Girl.

  • @LEO1WOLF
    @LEO1WOLF 4 роки тому

    The easy take-away, is that upon the very birth of ourselves, we have a battery that's one beat closer to death, we expire. Another, is that we've got to somehow cram as much life & love into every moment. But then, eventually - - we all experience a deep & stirring loss of some sort. The way Scarecrow carries Robot, through all the trash & misery that we (as humans) bring around us, he looks at her VID recorded only moments before. He realizes just how much beauty, love & life she brought to the world in her short "life". Perhaps another potential message the writer(s) were trying to convey is that if we don't try to remember the beauty, love &/or life our dearly departed had brought to our world, we too, can potentially get lost in our losses.

    It’s a beautiful love story, I see it as the meeting of opposites, an organic scarecrow and an AI robot, death and rebirth as she brought him back and finally he carried her as she failed into the field where he came from, they’re then together.

      This was my reaction the first time I watched it. It seemed like a clinker in the overall good vibes of the festival. But then I noticed that Scarecrow goes down in the pit before they tear him apart. The people may have thought "whoa, someone tossed a scarecrow into the pit!" Nobody noticed that he was made of straw and wood until he went down. Given Robot's condition before her performance, it can also be taken as a turning point for both of them: they both fall apart, then find brief salvation with each other. The festival is fun, and mostly full of happiness and good vibes, but the environment can take a toll on the performers and attendees

      They all were likely way too to drunk and stoned to really comprehend everything. Not to mention, well, a scarecrow in a mosh pit. As the guy above said, they probably thought someone tossed it in or maybe he was actually a giant piñata and they were too high to notice.

    Ab fab characters and story. My Dad passed a few months ago. He had the option to be at home and take his last breath. I didn't want to watch him but stayed by his side until he was no longer coherent. He wanted me to be there is the only reason I stayed. I gave him some advice when he asked questions and just tried to remain silent along his bedside. Since I only have one Dad I don't expect to do that again but if I come back in the future and my dad asks me to be there I will do it out of respect.

  • @Tallinu
    @Tallinu 6 років тому +15

    Problem. Scarecrow has no battery liability which makes no sense while she does. Ruins everything. The breathing was annoying. As if it would be difficult to revive her. She would have a separate battery to save her settings like CMOS does on a motherboard. That's just the tip of the spear. You do all this fantastic work. Tell a real story. You have such vision and no grounding.

    • @ptonpc
      @ptonpc 6 років тому +18

      The whole point is her life is short, his is just started. They fall in love and experience happiness together. Her, for the last time. Him for the first.
      Note. Dust do not make the films. Dust buys them to show.

    • @sevonthegreat
      @sevonthegreat 6 років тому +5

      I actually liked to see (or hear) them simulate breathing. That's probably what people would build in advanced humanoid machines in real life since it's a lot more comfortable for humans. Trust me. A non-breathing humanlike intelligent lifeform is creepy as fck.
      Besides that, I don't think it's easy to change her battery (like most smartphones nowadays) and you can see at the beginning that a technician was barely able to fix her up for the show. There's not much left you can repair. You'd probably need a new body which is definitely unaffordable for a scarecrow. Or maybe he don't want to? Could you still love your girlfriend if her mind dwells in a whole new body? The wooden robot however might have a wholly functioning interior, so he doesn't need to care about his battery status.
