This guy is just basically saying in that area he can’t sell enough of them because it’s not one of the more popular brands in his area. Gravely is a good brand period.
I hear you on certain brands being popular in a given area. I own a Gravely ZTXL and it is a solidly built mower even though it's a non-commercial mower it is probably built just as good as one and I am convinced that their HD line is built better than a lot of commercial mowers. I think you get a lot more for your money with Gravely. Really it's mostly about the engine and hydros your mower is only as good as the parts that make them go. They use Kohler Kawasaki and hydro-Gear.
I mow my 5 acres yard with an Ariens Apex 60 which is an off label Gravely. It has the 24 hp Kawasaki and Hydro-gears. It is a beast and I love it. Built like a tank. Thick heavy welded metal everywhere you look.
I have the zt hd 52 and am running a business using it. It's a beast, zero problems, it's a tank, cut quality is good as well. No complaints from me. I went with the Kohler as well, everyone said not To... I'm really surprised how good it is on gas.
It makes sense what he’s saying. It doesn’t work for his area. In the south, specifically southern Louisiana gravely pretty much dominates the market. They’re everywhere and they’re great mowers. Their transmissions are strong. Great hydros.
Correct I have the GRAVELY ZT HD 52in and a GRAVELY ZT HD 44in. I had the 44 inch for over 8 years and only thing I had to fix on it was the pulleys after 8 years and one spindle.
In our area, if it ain’t wright it ain’t right. We consider gravely the economy brand you buy when you’re too cheap for the standers. We’ve used scag, wright and gravely. To this day we kept one scag, and 7 standers. No gravelys. Standers are just more agile, powerful, and ergonomic.
Just to let you know I ran a gravely ZT2660HD for 10 years as a home residential unit, cutting 2 acres. it worked for me but, then again I was not a commercial mower.
@@johnz8886 my experience with them have been awesome never had a problem used pro turns and the hd. I was really wanting him to demo one because I think they are great mowers.

@@PVHIII44 I will say I have a brand new Ferris z2 less then 30 hrs in the shop.. leaking hydraulic fluid.. pretty sure it’s just a fitting but still wtf
Think you misunderstood him. He wasn't knocking Gravely. Just in his market it doesn't make sense to sell them, as it's highly consumer driven, and he's primarily a commercial dealer. He said nothing negative about the product as to why it doesn't make sense, just the market where he's at doesn't support it.
He simply can't compete with the prices. You can buy an Ariens which is a Gravely painted orange at the box stores cheap. He would go out of business if he tried to compete. I shopped around before I bought a mower. Did thorough analysis of decks, spindles, metal thickness, welds, engines, hydros, maintenance ease, availability and price. Ariens (Gravely) was best bang for buck by far. Bought it, saved $2,000.00, and they delivered to my door. He has to have a brand that it not readily available and then build a stable of customers that come to him for service. He does not want Gravely because the average Joe buys it direct and then maintains it himself. i mow a huge and complex 5 acre yard with trees, branches, ditches, etc. The Ariens Gravely is a beast. Look on line right now. Ariens Apex 60 $5,899.00. Ferris 60 $11,000.00. Now you see why he sells Ferris
Only run pro gravelys couldn't tell you where a bobcat, write, or ferris dealer is located within 60 miles of me. See many guys switching from Xmarks to gravely as well.
Exmark is pricing themself out of the market. As I said in the video Gravely just doesn’t hold water in my market as a commercial brand, that’s really the only reason we don’t sell it. Otherwise spec and build quality is on par with pretty much any other brand.
@@Camp-RiteRV I'm glad you came back and said that. People don't listen well. Not once did you knock Gravely. It simply doesn't fit your business model you are building. You are focussing on the pro market and that calls for commercial equiptment. I bought a Ferris 400s becasue I have 1 acre and didn't need commercial. I'm honestly not impressed by it at all but I didn't pay for a commercial mower and I don't expect it to cut like one. I honestly wish I would have bought the Gravely. By the way you are a good guy clearly. Congratulations on the success of your business.
Just purchased my second Wright Mower, a Stander B 52” for $7,200, I never owned a Gravely but I noticed they have to many different models and versions. As a car guy, I can tell you good luck getting parts 10 years from now. Wright has been the first in stand-up and so much easier on your body than climbing inside of a zero turn all day.
Gravely makes a damn decent zero turn mower. My childhood mentor has actually owned one that he bought brand new from a local dealer at the time. The dealer has since went out of business and if I remember right it was because one of the brothers that opened it up years prior had passed away due to old age. So I think the remaining brother and sister that still owned it and ran it decided they were ready to retire. The building actually sat vacant for roughly 10 years before somebody else moved in to it. So I'm assuming they owned the building and they just decided to close up shop and retire. They always had people walking in and out of there buying parts and whatever else. Their parts department was second to know body. 99% of the time they had it in stock and didn't have to order it. They pretty much always got you the right parts on the first try pretty much every time. So you didn't waste time running back and forth trying to find the right part. Ole JP Fuller and company. Weren't the cheapest in the area but they usually had it in stock and the guys behind the counter knew what they were doing. But anyway he's still running that Gravely zero turn over 20 years later and he has no intention of buying a new one any time soon. You just need to invest in one of the more commercial grade mowers. But Gravely still makes a solid zero turn mower. Usually with either a Kawasaki or Briggs Vanguard or Kohler Command depending on what you want.
I love dealers like this. They would rather make a new regular customer then make a one time dollar. He seems to be honest and doesn't want to sell you something he wouldn't buy, even if it's something he carriers.
I've always loved gravely, maybe it's just my area but we ran a fleet of mostly Exmarks, Gravely, and a few Scags, we tried Farris one season with a walk behind and a sit down the walk behind was in the shop more than it was mowing and honestly dealer support here for both was eh and it cut about the same as the Gravely and Exmarks so wasn't worth it for us, I'm honestly a huge fan of Gravely's commercial line
He's a dealer you got to rememeber that maintence and repairs are going to be probably most of his money. And things that don't break down as often he cannot repair or fix. He"ll probably have beef with any brand that makes commercial quality things that last. I personally think and agree with the commenters on this video about gravely and ect and i think a customer is a more honest and the right person to be asking about what lasts and is a great product. I wouldn't credit too much of what a dealer is going to tell you about stuff like this to be honest. Ask the people that buy and use the equipment not the dealers!!
@@The07gsxr1000 Michael and Master Mowers are in Marietta Georgia. I have a Gravely ZT HD48 that I purchased brand new in 2018, and haven't had one issue. Michael doesn't sell prosumer equipment like the Gravely ZT HD line. He only sells commercial. Even if it's entry commercial like the Wright Stander B line, it has to be commercial.
But really. How often do you get a flat. When I was mowing for a living I don’t recall ever getting a flat on the back for over 4 years. Front had a few plugs but was only down for a few minutes while I plugged it.
My Gravely, 92 I think, has a Kawasaki FD engine. Anyone know if the build quality on the Z-60 has changed in 20 years? Mine is for the 2-3 acres we keep mowed in east central Kansas. Have had no unexpected issues.
I believe all Gravely models have an option for the Kohler EFI engines. Correct me if I'm wrong. My Gravely pro-turn 160 is a tank and a beast, mowing +5 acres with about a 1/4 of it being fallow fields. I get that most mower sales are really about marketing for specific areas, but having owned a number of different brands, I'd put Gravely up against any of them. What I didn't hear was the fact the Gravely is American made. This is important to me.
I am looking to upgrade from cub cadet ZT1 (not impressed with the dealer support). Can anyone speak to Toro or Scag ZT mowers? A lot of dealers here carry those two. There is a Wright dealer and an Exmark.
Your "Click Bait" header makes it sound like Gravely's are junk when in reality you don't have the "Ability" to handle this line of equipment. With your shortcomings, Gravely should be the one who refuses to deal with you.
Don't forget, Tweels made right here in the USA (Greenville, SC). Also, don't undervalue the reduced ride vibration out of Tweels, reducing rider fatigue. Gotten off a z-turn or stand up, after an hour or so, and felt exhausted from the vibration.
I have a gravely ztx42 had it for 3 years no major issues they even replaced the spindles, pulleys and a belt under warranty before it ended at no cost. My only gripe is that the cut quality is kinda lacking but it’s a great mower and cheap and easy to work on
I do find this interesting. The kawasaki engine is manufactured near me in Kansas I believe I just went and bought a brand new 2022 gravely HD 52" Pickens are slim. they told me that it's very hard to get anything and the price will keep goin up because the demand is so high. I was also told the every engine kawasaki makes this year 2022 is already bought and payed for. That's how behind they are
I recently got a Gravely 260. It is heavy duty. I am in the Midwest (Iowa) I will say I do understand why he doesn't want to get Gravelys. In my town I can choose from Gravely and John Deere and I'm not paying for what Deere offers. Only other option would be Grasshopper that is 20 min away from me same with Kubota. Both of those are high $ I'm new to your channel also. So thats why I'm putting this up so long after the video 😂
After about 10 hours I found i had to recheck deck level etc as the tweels settled down. Might bolt kit is on its way to nz as well im told haha I might get mine before you get yours yet 😉
Midwest here - gravely has been fantastic. But it really is an area thing. What your dealers have grown popular us what you see the most of. We don't see barely any scags and Wright are rare here - great mowers just not really available around here. Small pockets of dealers here and there but that's it.
Always wanted to know more about Tweels. Super informative video thank you for this. Many of my competitors run these and I always wondered what the benefits were. Thanks for the video brother
I'll put it to you this way, if you live in the south and you're not running rear tweels and solid fronts and your competition is, you are already one step behind. Tweels will develop flat spots while sitting idle in the severe cold so I understand the risk and the added headache of elevating them off the ground or switching them out with pneumatics for the guys up north, but they are a no brainer if you live in the south.
@@alienationsec4480 why do you say that? why get a wheel i gotta jack up????? i dont see what advantage you are claiming? do they cut any better? my air rear tires do great. i cant see the twills making any difference at all. please let me know. i dont do mowing for a living but have a bout ten acres to mow and hunting land. my old tor zmaster does great.

he is kinda correct though. they are not near the top for commercial lines. they are mid grade at best, great mowers but it sounds like his customer base is more commercial and he already has lower commercial units he sales. why pick up another line if you already have two that sale great. Ive never heard of those he sales either but in that area maybe they are the bomb. i think gravely is a great mower but its not the best out there.
We're an exmark dealer where I work and we literally only have one quest one staris and two radius. That's it. Just got a gravely, so far very happy. Deffinately understand wat hes sayin though. I went with the zthd cause it can handle my mowing list but u dont see the bigger guys wit pro turns on their trailers.
What has hurt the Pro-Turn sales in recent years is the discharge being too small..It's been the WORST deck on the market as far as discharge and Gravely has drug their feet in redesigning it...JS
So in short you sell what is popular in your market . I mean this is business 101 . Scag is #1 in my area by far ( northeast ) does that make it the best ? No but it is what brand grew popular over the years in this area . All of this should be basic knowledge and not surprising at all . Wrights are few and far between up this way .
My dealer which is a huge Stihl dealer normally has a huge wall of chainsaws. Completely decimated at the moment. Just bought another 462 in case we need another for hurricane season coming up.
Im not sure, here in North Central Florida, 90% of the lawn mower companies are stocked with Gravely's. I have 13 lawn mower dealers in my area. 9 of them have Gravely/Ariens-w/ Snapper, 1 is strictly Deere, 2 Toro, 1 Exmark/Hustler/Spartan..
First time I got a flat and was told there is a 2 week wait to repair. I bought the tweels right then and there. Can't put a price on piece of mind and down time.
I started out liking wright but that was before I knew about Ferris. Once I saw and did more research I stuck with Ferris and went ahead and pulled the trigger.
Ferris is known for electrical problems and Wright’s cut quality is subpar compared to Scag or Ferris. Ferris has more points of failure for their complex suspension setup and Wright dealers are hard to find even when I’m in their business back yard. Wright however is great for lower center of gravity on hills. They all have pros and cons but I’d take a simplistic ultra durable Gravely anyday over a super expensive Scag TT2.
funny alot of dealers up in the northern part of this country wouldnt have said anything about what he just stated about financing how the manufacturers and financers do business with the dealers and everyones cuts of the pie keep up the good work nick ...
He's spot on Nick, this isn't a regional issue, it's a nationwide issue. I've got buddies with crews in Atlanta and Tucson and they both tell me the same thing. Folks better have at least 1 backup of every piece of equipment they need or think they'll need and they better start preparing for rising costs too. If you're going to need a mower, aerator, trailer or truck in the next 3 years, you better move on it now. Nationwide inventories are depleting literally by the day and costs of raw materials is rising by the day.
I cut 5 acres of some really tough grass on a Reg basis, I LOVE my Airens/Gravely HD60, and will put it up against ANYTHING even close to the same price range.
I don’t blame this guy for not wanting to work with Gravely. They make decent machines but when flaws in their products are discovered they will deny the shit out of it. Specifically the stand on Pro Stance, my pro turn is a monster so I can not speak for their entire line up. And if you go one county over from my neck of the woods you will see a ton of Wright mowers, but none around us. It’s just like he said, it all depends on the brand that is being sold/supported in that area.
Happy 20+ YO Gravely 260Z owner here. Take care of your Gravely. Regular maintenance, change the fluids... Can't beat my 60" hydraulic deck. If I wanna double cut, I can make my initial cut, then drop the deck maybe 1/16 inch and make a second pass. I also have a swivel front end. Cannot beat it. Makes for a smoother ride.
They didn’t go into the part about they hold hills way better than any pneumatic tire will, and they ride better too. If you’re located in a hilly area like Nick is, it also becomes a safety issue where more money spent on safer equipment for you and your employees far outweighs the initial cost. I’d buy them just for the no flat part of it, but I sure wouldn’t mind more traction from the bigger foot print they give you either.
@@ralfie8801 I don't know about a better ride on rough terrain but they definitely hold a hill better. Only time they don't is if the tread is full on the tire

Gravely’ are built like a tank meant to last! Stripes beautiful. Cut quality is far more superior than most brands!
Let .e hit what you're smoking. I ain't seen a GRAVELY stripe yet. You must be a paid schill
@@theoperator9474 you must be blind or biased. My HD48 strips. It does it even better with gator blades. It’s obviously not the best stripper stock but it does. Go sit down if you don’t own one.
@@ImBatman83 gravely is complete junk
It is a good company. It is owned by Ariens.
Amen I have Pro Turn Z60
I just got rid of my bad boy for a gravely I absolutely love it
This guy is just basically saying in that area he can’t sell enough of them because it’s not one of the more popular brands in his area.
The thing is that Gravely home use models are just as good and as well built as most other brands commercial mowers.
Correct I have the GRAVELY ZT HD 52in and a GRAVELY ZT HD 44in. I had the 44 inch for over 8 years and only thing I had to fix on it was the pulleys after 8 years and one spindle.
Not even in the same category as these others he mentions.
It just depends on the area. We have built the Gravely name in our area. My pro cutters would much rather run a Pro-Stance than a Wright stand-on.
Can you run a bagging system on the twheels?
You can but it’s not recommended due to the increased weight. All brands will recommend you put the pneumatic tires on when running a bagger.
I wish you would still demo a gravely I would love to know your thoughts on one
Just to let you know I ran a gravely ZT2660HD for 10 years as a home residential unit, cutting 2 acres. it worked for me but, then again I was not a commercial mower.
@@johnz8886 my experience with them have been awesome never had a problem used pro turns and the hd. I was really wanting him to demo one because I think they are great mowers.
I have a Cub Cadet LT1042, Is there a way to install larger/taller tires to increase my current height? If so, how? Thanks
I wish he was closer to me I’d love to support his business. His explanation of why he doesn’t sell a bunch of brands is spot on! We appreciate the knowledge Michael!
There's obviously a beef with him and Gravely..It's not like Gravely doesn't build a very capable and extremely durable product...js
Idk I do not ever see a gravely on commercial guys trailers.. it is Ferris Wright and bob cat..
@@aaronhobart6223 Depends on what part of the country you're in and most of all dealer support.
@@PVHIII44 I will say I have a brand new Ferris z2 less then 30 hrs in the shop.. leaking hydraulic fluid.. pretty sure it’s just a fitting but still wtf
I think that dudes wrong about Gravley I had never had any issues with that product ever I've had nothing but excellent experiences with gravely
It mainly depends on what works for you and your needs and requirements and as you said it's pretty much the maintenance and care of your machines
Everyone around us is leaving Exmark for Gravely
Hey where can I buy some?
Nothing wrong with a a gravely. Get out of here. The guy made ZERO valid reasons as to why gravely is not good for commercial or homeowner.
No, but he made some valid reasons as a business owner.
@@greeneracre1151 Exactly. He noted that it's not the brand for his local customer base.
I have used a gravely commercial I thought it was a good cutting machine
$1200 for one pair of Michelin "tweels"?? I think not.
Thanks for sharing this with us and that’s a great dealer to have very knowledgeable take care
Will these tires for a Cub xt1 42”? If so what do I need to make it happen
Wish I had a dealer like that where I live. That guy is GOLD! Really knows his stuff!
Do you put 303 on them to preserve the plastic ?
Also curious about that.
I use it on our royalex canoes. Good stuff.
Yeah there's going to be a shortage of everything for a while... its crazy right now low supply and high prices

As a warehouse worker for a Stihl distribution company I can confirm the backorder timelines. I havent seen a few units in months.
At the dealer I work at we haven’t got a Ferris mower for 6 months and haven’t had stihl blowers for 5 months
I use a gravely pro 1336g walk behind I think it's a amazing mower!!
I just wonder how bad do those thing deform and retain memory say like after your mower sits on them in one spot for a while ?
This guy definitely seems like a good dealer. I have a great one nearby too . And he’s not lying... never seen my shop so bare . Crazy.
I am looking to upgrade from cub cadet ZT1 (not impressed with the dealer support). Can anyone speak to Toro or Scag ZT mowers? A lot of dealers here carry those two. There is a Wright dealer and an Exmark.
I love costco..go get that dog n soda for a 1.50..save your 1200.00 for a 70 inch flat screen
Their sundaes went up in price tho . Think there about $ 2.50 . Still cheap eating.

Gravely is a great mower. They have great service and the mowers are well built. Not many at all that I would take over one.
Both of those are high $
I'm new to your channel also. So thats why I'm putting this up so long after the video 😂

Midwest here - gravely has been fantastic. But it really is an area thing. What your dealers have grown popular us what you see the most of. We don't see barely any scags and Wright are rare here - great mowers just not really available around here. Small pockets of dealers here and there but that's it.
Gravely is the Cadillacs of all the Lawnmower’s

Always wanted to know more about Tweels. Super informative video thank you for this. Many of my competitors run these and I always wondered what the benefits were. Thanks for the video brother
😉👊🏻💯 no problem Gerry, glad it helped

The advantage is better traction from the bigger foot print that they have, they hold hills better than any pneumatic tire will, and they ride a whole lot better without being too soft. Then there’s the no flats ever again part of it.

he is kinda correct though. they are not near the top for commercial lines. they are mid grade at best, great mowers but it sounds like his customer base is more commercial and he already has lower commercial units he sales. why pick up another line if you already have two that sale great.
Mike a great guy and very knowledgeable 👍👍 let's go to Atlanta for our equipment 🙂
First time I got a flat and was told there is a 2 week wait to repair. I bought the tweels right then and there. Can't put a price on piece of mind and down time.
Dang! I always thought Gravely was pretty ok. I have a Ferris but gravely was like 5th or 6th on my list when I was shopping for a mower
I started out liking wright but that was before I knew about Ferris. Once I saw and did more research I stuck with Ferris and went ahead and pulled the trigger.
Gravely is big over here in eastern North Carolina.
Gravely builds very good mowers.
Ain't no way I can justify tweels.
Just plug your tires from time to time.
Or have them foam filled for less than $120 each. Tweels are absurdly expensive and definitely not worth the price.
Gravely is nonexistent where I’m am at in the northeast, cannot cut the grass type at all
Happy 20+ YO Gravely 260Z owner here.
That’s crazy for $1200 hell I can buy 20 set a tires and they would last me the wife of my mowers to
They didn’t go into the part about they hold hills way better than any pneumatic tire will, and they ride better too.
