I love the way you represented the field in the foreground. It has exactly the right balance of realism and abstraction and you quit exactly where it called for. The play of light is enchanting. Thanks for another great video.
Thank you! So glad you enjoyed it.
I was struggling with skies and getting the lights in first. Your method of relaxing and doing the initial light wash for the whole picture is so helpful.
Well first off Mathew I love the end result of this painting. Secondly I've been learning to use water colour for a couple months now and watched many great channels.
I have to say though, this is one of the best/well presented tutorials I've seen so far. I think you have something special here, your method, presentation skills are on point.
More of this tutorials please, I insist :) . Really well done mate!!
Thank you! So glad you enjoyed it!
Great tutorial! I appreciate seeing your palette and your description of the colors you use. I struggle to get natural looking colors, so this is helpful!
Thank you so much for this! I found your tips so helpful. I appreciate the way you talk us through the process in such a warm and encouraging manner.
Great instructions!!! It really helps to see your mixing and choosing of colors as well as the painting. Very motivating and helpful. Thank you
I really enjoyed hearing your thoughts while painting. It was lovely and inspiring.
This is wonderful. I painted along. Got lost going in my own direction, but it turned out pretty good. Thanks for this helpful instruction.
Thank you, Matthew. You are a great teacher. I truly hope you have a wonderful Christmas. You just gave me my gift as far as I'm concerned.🎁
Thank you Matthew. Fantastic. Lovely painting and nice demo. Good instructions. Like your calm and patience.
Happy to hear that. Thanks!
Your video lessons are so much precious and effective. My mental barriers towards cityscape complexity is lowered now by connecting large Shape. And this countryside painting.
During my busy weekdays, notification of your lesson is inspiring and refreshing.
Very helpful. I feel like I was at your in-person class Thank you for taking the time to explain it all!
Somehow I'm really scared when comes to watercolour, but your tutorials make it absolutely approachable and interesting. Thanks so much. Happily subscribed.
I'm so glad!
I really enjoyed this tutorial! Thank you for the great tips. Lovely painting, too!
Matthew. I am new to water color and am learning so much from you. Thank you.

Thank you for all the good tips.
nice, i would love to see more of these tutorials in this channel👍🏼👍🏼and can you also tell us about where you get these references
I think this one was from upsplash.
I’m just a beginner, but you are helping me a great deal! Thanks :)
I really appreciate this. Thank you😊
Just wow 👌
Very thoughtful and insightful demo. This is the style I am working on developing, and your tutorials are invaluable. Thank you!
So glad to hear that!
Your demonstration along with explicit narration is so helpful. I’m trying to learn this approach, bigger shapes especially. My paper dries faster than yours however. Thanks so much.
Thanks for the video. I learned a lot!
You're welcome!
You are a great teacher
this is a great video, thanks!
Awesome artwork...
Nice one. I think I'm definitely going to learn a lot from you. Subscribed! :)
Inspirational! I could watch and listen over and over.
So glad you liked it!
Thank you very much! Can you share the combinations of different colors for different items of this painting.
Very cool! Thank you! 😃👍. How does your darker tree wash stay wet so long?
Nice demo, Matt. What was amazing was when you merged that cypress tree into the dark end of the barn. Suddenly, when you lost that edge, the entire painting came to life. I really like your green mix. Going to adopt it. What brand is the cobalt turquoise. I have Schminke.
Thanks David! I use Daniel Smith.
I love your way of painting. What is the size of the paper? Thanks ciao from Italy
Matthew you do that like you've done it before
TKU!
Hi Matthew ,Are tropical sceneries and sunset landscapes also awailable as tutorial videos on Patreon ? Are there every month new full lenght tutorials at your Patreon channel ?
Can you also do
On a more colourful painting
Matt, you ention that you use Lavender on your palette and this study. Most lavender's have white pigment...is that what you use or do you have a brand that does not have white? TIA
One of the items unaddressed is the capability of doing a decent light pencil drawing!
What kind of paper are you using? Mine folds as soon as I make it wet
Needs a division between side of house and tree
I love the paintings you do, but I have never seen watercolours like you use, they seem opaque?
Didn’t you strech your paper? How is it not waving?
Btw, its beautiful.
I didn't stretch the paper, I used 140lb Saunders and it holds up well.
I loved this tutorial….but now looking at your other videos, I find very few actual tutorials…😢
I like your videos, in fact, you are ONLY, utube video artist to reply to a question I posted once in Comments. But I wonder why your greens are brownish? Or maybe is way I see things. I am one of those annoying Too Sensitive people. I see things extremely vibrant and paint that way too. I started watercolor painting in 2022. So am new though been an artist since childhood when I was told I had won "best child oil painter in America." My tutor had entered me in this contest. I received a course at the Chicago Art Museum and entering those rooms, the easels, the smell of oil painting I was home. So if you see this am interested in your answer.
Likely a grass, Yorkshire Fog, not wildflowers
They are tiny red seeds on top of the grass
Franchement: je trouve les couleurs ternes et éteintes.
It was fantastic, until you add the final texture😢
No cars on your painting? How come so?
