Man you're inspiring!! I've tried working complex builds like this in survival, but always end up giving up due to frustration with clang and collisions. I'm diving back in full of gusto thanks to you!
I mean as farfetched as it seems, the big door and the small hallway door are extremely useful. Especially the larger one, for slowing down potential attackers to a crawl. It might seem wrong because small grid is much easier to destroy, but destroying one block of large grid armor clears a huge space, and the hitbox for said block is huge. The smaller blocks will each soak a single shot but overall it makes it more difficult for people to just yeet themselves into the base through your door and wreak havoc. And the locking mechanisms for the massive door are extremely useful for extra anchor points and it has the possibility of inciting Klang's Wrath on attackers
Good thinking! You could potentially make the small grid door as t h i c c as you wanted and use heavy armor to make it extra resilient. The locking mechanism works quite well, in testing I tried to open the door with the latches closed and they were easily to overcome the pistons trying to open the door.
I've not played now for a couple years. You've given me inspiration to get back into some builds. Your multi grid builds are really good. Might have to refer your vids for some help as that was always one of the biggest issues previously. Keep up the good work.
Thanks! that's true. You can make a design fit your bases esthetic more with a custom door. And I guess you could make one that's actually really durable.
Super cool!! Love your creativity.. this is way harder than it looks 😊 I can see you havn't made a video in ca 2 years.. hope you are doing fine and that life is treating you well.
Hah, that's true! I though since it's gonna leave a hole in the wall might as well make the best of it by adding some windows :D Had to do some design changes though since the doors were rubbing on the windows when opening.
These look great, thank you for sharing. Have you experienced any differences in performance or catching/sticking with vs without armor edges? I think there are mod(s) to remove armor edges.
I can see why my friends were freaking out over this video now. Those iris doors alone are awsome. Is the 1st 1 on the workshop the cooler area51 raider keeps demanding I put it in the drop shop.
Thanks man! Yeah the first iris door is something that looks totally not Space Engineer-esque. The PCU count on that is quit ridiculous though. Don't recommend using it for every door on your base :D
Great contraptions. What if you add small mergeblocks to the parts that are touching when closed? Then they could become airtight. At least some of the them.
That should work. As long as the grids will then separate when the merge blocks are disconnected/turned off. I'm actually currently enjoying my evening designing some airtight doors :D Stay tuned for a future video on them!
Hah :D I'll see what I can do. I have one tutorial video in the works, but it's been bit delayed because I haven't felt like playing SE too much recently.
@@nicolasmousten9685 There are offset pistons on each of the segments that move the slopes ~25cm to the side. Essentially moving the point of the sloped piece from the edge of a block to the middle. Then the radial distance was just testing.
All the blocks along the edges, that would merge together, have at least one side that doesn't allow connections. Check out my airtight door tutorial, I go more into this problem and solutions there.
if only the blocks in space engineers where not made out of a material that makes even paper mache laugh at its duribility. i wish they made a mod that made blocs 10 times as strong to bullets and guns. it would be more realistic. especially with how big the blocks are.

Thanks a lot! Glad to hear I was able to inspire you.

That first Iris door is nuts i love it.
Thanks!✌🏻
You are an absolute wizard my dude. These custom doors are stunning
Thanks mate!
@@MjuMeli hey are you on Facebook? I've posted this in the space engineers PC community group
@@c.jandrews304 Only with my personal account which I rarely use. Thanks for sharing it mate!
Seriously impressive work here. Well done.
Thanks a lot man!✌🏻
The First Iris door is really the best. For airthightness , you will have to figure with merge blocks or simply hangar door behind.

Very cool designs! Great job!
Thanks mate!
Those are some sick designs!
Thanks mate!
Awesome work dude, really impressive creations
Thanks mate! I'm actually in the process of building even more doors, more epic and airtight! Stay tuned✌🏻
Those are awesome.
Would work great for a high security location in a scenario like a military base or vault.

Really cool designs
Thanks man!
Great builds
Thanks mate!
Awesome.
Thanks✌🏻 Make sure to check out my airtight door video as well. Those are prettt cool as well!
Great work love all the doors you build 😊
Thanks! I'm already thinking about improvements and other designs that'll probably end in a new video :D
Super cool!! Love your creativity.. this is way harder than it looks 😊

defo gonna build some of these in my survival world
Nice to hear mate! Have fun✌🏻
Great work, respect!
Thanks a lot man!
you know that door with windows makes a perfect bedroom doorwhen closed you get a nice exterior view

very well done, thank you!
Beautiful ideas! Nice mechanics! Real art in SP :-)
Thanks mate!

I haven't tested any mods like that, but I'll have to look into it. Thanks for the tip!
Wow you are amazing!

Upped and available now! Check the description.

The silver lining of unwanted collisions :D

PLEASE! You gotta do a tutorial in which you tell us how to get Clang's Grace
Hah :D I'll see what I can do. I have one tutorial video in the works, but it's been bit delayed because I haven't felt like playing SE too much recently.
i would love to se a big circular door, not out of big ship blocks but just in a bigger scale.
Thanks for the suggestion! These are indeed quite small in scale. Making them bigger would open up all sorts of possibilities!
@@MjuMeli how do you get the circle that perfect with the closing, a lot of math? or just testing?

“yaal couldnt behave were taking the hog”
I like how clean the split was :D
Pls make tutorial on how to design and program these types of doors
I have one on my channel. Check it out!

how do they not merge together?

Sometimes I think to myself
We more garage type doors
Custom doors can be a quite nice addition to a garage! But yeah, Keen should also ad some new bigger doors.

500 mm of steel armor taken down by a couple of shots from an assault rifle? I have no idea what you are talking about :D
