5:55 The one thing I like about this part of the comic is that it shows that he was still scared of Joe Chill, just a little. He hesitated to speak for just a second he even almost spoken like how he does when he's Bruce and not Batman.
I thought it's because he already reveled his identity to him, while on mobius chair. Though he later wiped the specific memory, caused Batman a moment of delay to introduce himself again.
@@SivaChidambaram15 True but he needed to act like Batman because of the other inmates of the Prison, they don't know who he is, Chill might still know but he swore he wouldn't ever tell anyone in fear of his life.
Making Jason go through his trauma again was just CRUEL. I would have never expected him to be in that situation. one of the few times I was shocked by the Joker. I'm glad he's choosing to heal from it rather than lose himself even further. We might see him completely changed in the future.

Next dick His Adopted son has Dated Batgirl, Slept with Catwoman , Slept with Artemis and Dated and Married Starfire. Next Jason his other Adopted son. him and batgirl have kissed (they have like a at most a 10 year age gap) him and Starfire have kissed (idk if they slept) Artemis and Jason have seated and here’s the funny Part JASON has SLEPT with Talia (who has a SON with Batman who’s is his brother) and His first kiss was with Talia as well after he was resurrected. So, the Joker who daydreamed of his wife and unborn son, were they scared of him because he knows they'd hate what he's become?
I'm thinking that Joker might have been the little boy. And The Joker might have acting as his own father. Maybe another origin for that Joker?
Part of what’s so good about this comic is that we have absolutely no clue, which is great
I was thinking Joker found out his wife had faked her own death and had two police officers tell him a story she died in an accident because she can tell he was starting to lose it so she left to raise their child on her own. And that can be flashback revealing he knows now and visits them occasionally to terrorize them. Him sitting at the table could be him planning how to terrorize them next.
According to the "Gotham" TV series, Joker paints his face with a red smile because that's what his father did to him. I think that Joker draws inspiration from his trauma, leading to him believing that his father was also Joker. But that's just my theory.

I understand what Barbara was saying about Jason shooting a human being. But c'mon, This is the frickin Joker we're talking about. And while he is only *physically* human, that doesn't make him human in general. Joker is a evil psychotic monster.
Some people don't like murder regardless. Even in self-defense situations; let alone a Revenge killing.
Some think Buddhists are peaceful people, but looking into Jainism.

That's because it's such a dogshit opinion that is only there to justify Joker not being dead and telling kids that killing is bad. Any one that goes out of his way to help people would simply kill Joker but comics aren't known for nuance.
They took a page out of Joaquin Phoenix’s Joker for the criminal as it physically hurts him to laugh. Very Interesting.
Phoenix’s joker is hardly the first to be in pain from laughing but he is the first to have his “laugh” be out of his control
I feel like the criminal is more a reflection of Heath Ledger
William samaras definitely. He has Nicholson’s gangster look (confirmed by Jason Fabok) and past (implied in this issue) but Ledger’s methods and tendency not to smile compared to the others. Much more serious.
Meanwhile Phoenix Joker is basically a unique take that’s based loosely on the the Comedian.
Nah, he said that same line in Under the Red Hood.
That line in Under the Red Hood was because he had been badly hurt and beaten by Jason anyway. Generally speaking that’s not the case
5:58 - You missed the most important part. As Batman walks to Joe Chill’s cell, Black Gate inmates like Rupert Thorne and Dr. Phosphorus shrink away in fear. But when he comes to Joe Chill’s cell, Batman has to steady himself, clear his throat, and force himself to speak up to the man dying of cancer who murdered his parents!

Sivachidambaram G I don’t think that is the case here, based on them showing Dr. Phosphorus and Rupert Thorne being afraid of Batman, then Batman flashing back to his parents murder in Crime Alley, then he has to take a moment to compose himself before talking to his parents killer. It is superb story telling and great at showing a natural scarring fear of the man who killed his parents no matter what he has faced and what he has become in just a few panels.
It’s crazy how each joker has affected the bat family members that are helping him in a different way. Maybe batgirl will kill one too. The gangster first encountered Batman. The comedian disabled batgirl. And red hood was affected by the other joker

😂 they aren’t shipping each other, it’s a traumatic moment and about them healing, she already stated it was just a one time thing, and Jason always had a thing for her, I think it’s a kiss to show that she cares, to comfort him. Not everything has to be romantic.
@@ravengenavia1933 Dick and Starfire ended their relationship in the comics for quite some time, it was pre-52, but there was an incident where they were taken over by an embodiment of lust and the two realized that their relationship was more about lust then love. Barbara is his official comic book girlfriend.

Rushing things, or actually revealing who The Joker is. This better be just one long swerve, or give us a false ending. Show us a “true identity” that in a few months or weeks Bats realizes in false.

I have a strong feeling that if Jason wasn't found by Talia and found by a member of the Batfamily, he would be entirely different than his is now. Barbara kept everything from when she was recovering so that she can be reminded that she is stronger than what was done to her. Jason was turned into a weapon for Talia to use in her personal battle with Bruce. If he had the support system Barbara had, Jason would be so different. I am hoping Jason gets some love from her his family and the peace he needs.
They treat jason like garbage and he deserves better than The batcult.

The newest Batgirl Rebirth suit is pretty dope, though. It's designed by Sean-Gordon Murphy (creator of Batman; White Knight).

@@nikunjdixit1175 I get what you're saying about Barbara being treated by DC as the Batfamily slut, but I actually think that she and Red Hood would be a good match. She worked through her problems (granted, with a retconned back surgery) and healed while still dealing with unresolved anger, while Jason is in need of healing himself to become a better person. It may be a bit off balance here, but I can see them having a Beauty and the Beast type of thing.
James Tolbert Then she can work better as a friend. Becoming a therapist for all his issues does not constitute as a good relationship at all. Might be good for Jason, would be horrible for Barbara.

To be honest, Jason would be a miles better love interest than Dick for Barbara. Not because of like personalities, History together or whatever, but because it offers *A LOT* more writing Material.
Jason and Barbara, as established in this Comic, are 2 sides of the same coin. Both scarred and traumatized by the Joker, but each one came out different. Barbara went on to keep follow Batman‘s code and became a better Hero because of it. Jason went on to follow his own beliefs and became a ruthless and unpredictable Killer. And because of that, both would perfectly balance each other out in stories.
Barbara would be that glimmer of light in Jason‘s dark path that always tries to bring him back to the right track. The only string left in Jason‘s life that still connects him to the Bat Family, not completely abandoning them. Whilst Jason would at the same time try to show Barbara that the rules she follows only hinder her and if she would come with him, they both could truly safe Gotham in a way Batman never could. No rules where she wouldn‘t have to hold back anymore. Barbara would see that last bit of Hope in Jason that is still left. That least bit of Hope she refuses to let go and she knows she has to fight trough a lot of Darkness until she reaches that Hope. A perfect couple that dances on the concept of Good & Bad.
And i know a *LOT* of people enjoy Dick with Barbara, but on a story and writers perspective, what are these 2 to each other? They are long time friends and crime fighting partners. I mean, that‘s the entire relationship between them and neither of them truly contributes to one another in a way that is with like Batman & Catwoman, Hulk & Betty Ross (not really the She-Rulk version) or Constantine and Zatanna. That‘s why Dick and Kori are only better by a bit since, again, they only contribute to one another as team member and the only true thing that makes their relationship intersting is that Kori is an Alien.
Couldn't explain it better than myself. I was looking for this and I do think as well Jason and Barbara would be a perfect couple like fire and water or ying/yang.

Nathan Nix I mean I don’t blame her, she is traumatized and Jason took advantage of her, by saying she wanted it to happen, took advantage of her emotional breakdown, she has a ptsd and got angry, Batman response to her was shocking as he was a good dad for once. I think it’s an interesting emotional trauma, everyone has their own horrors.

The visuals and dialogue used in this issue are SOOO chilling! The opening sequence the Joker is imagining, the Jokerised bodies in the pool, Jason being beaten as he was before but now wearing his Red Hood helmet with a SMILE painted on it! Johns and Fabok are awesome! Also, THAT CLIFFHANGER! Can't wait til Issue 3. Hope it delivers as Doomsday Clock did.
Side note, when is this set, cause Alfred is alive in this, seemingly not in a vision or anything?

I don't read comics much, but I'm with you there. I can already see their relationship thing being what causes Jason to snap become The Joker, or something like that.
I get that relationships are complicated things, and I don't know what Nightwing's been up to in recent comics, but I really wish the writers just choose a Robin and stick with it for a while (especially if it's Nightwing).

I'm not very well versed in comics can someone help me out? From what I understand one joker is from the golden age one is from the silver and one from the bronze. Which is which? And which is the killing joke joker?
Basically in my opinion:
Golden Age - The Clown Joker - Red Hood
Silver Age - The Comedian Joker - Batgirl
Bronze Age - The Criminal Joker - Batman
Golden Age - The Criminal.
Silver Age - The Comedian
Bronze Age - The Clown
@@rodchedomingo2089 I would not really say the Criminal is the Bronze age Joker as in the Golden age he was a criminal with little interest in the Batman at first while the Clown is the brutal murderer that can't stop smiling and laugh. Golden age Joker didn't laugh nearly as much as Silver and Bronze, like the Criminal, so I really don't think the Criminal is likely the Bronze age Joker but rather the Golden age.

@@reubenthawmte8504 I get what you're saying but he's the one in charge of the three jokers. He's a criminal master mind so he would be cold and calculative. He also has a medical condition which gives him intense pain when he laughs, that could explain why we don't see him smile much.
Doctor Phosphorus's cell reads 0197705 which means May 1977 although the 19 doesn’t match up with his first appearance in Detective Comics #469 but Joe Chill's cell reads 0331939 which is Detective Comics #33 1939 which was his first appearance

So if they are hunting down potential Joker candidates, Joe Chill has to be the next one. He has cancer, so it might hurt when he laughs. Killing the Uber wealthy Waynes could have been his idea of a twisted Joke...

I’m only worried about 3 things 1 Jason and Barbara I don’t really like that but I’m waiting to see were they go with that. 2 I personally don’t like it when they recontextualize the Wayne’s death I think it’s more powerful if it’s just a mugging. 3 just hoping the ending isn’t rushed. Love and hate tend to be two sides of the same coin to the Joker. But really despite a lot of popular modern interpretations the Joker has stated he hated Batman and/or has actually tried to kill him, countless times in their 80 year history. This is the original Joker (1940) who had no weird love-hate relationship, just hate. So it makes sense. Meanwhile in the Killing Joke, he kind of hates Batman there too as well as love him. It's complicated.
You can make an argument about how The Criminal Joker hates Batman because he is the more rational of the three.

N yeah pretty much. The Criminal is ripped straight from Batman #1, his first appearance in 1940. Both his covers are based on panels from there. This Joker wasn’t goofy, he didn’t pull pranks or tell jokes. He was a criminal mastermind who challenges Batman (and Robin) to stop his crimes, which were mainly killing and stealing things. The main reason he’s called the Joker besides his face, is because of the playing card. He likes to leave it in his crimes and even use it to kill people. He also messed with gangsters a lot. Like in The Dark Knight.
I am loving this series so far. Also Jason Fabok is one of the best comic artist out there right now.

We finally see Joker dogs after seeing Joker fish, cats, squirrels, and all that other nonsense children shouldn't even be seeing. And now Jokerized people acting like zombies? Wow, do they keep making the Joker more and more like a horror character. And I'm a tad annoyed how Barbara is so vengeful towards Jason killing one of the Jokers even if she got crippled by one of them. Sometimes, a line has to be drawn to save lives whether it's right or wrong depending on the character. Just like how the DC heroes have given Wonder Woman a pass for killing Max Lord or whenever Aquaman goes on an ecological rampage on the surface world.
What lives? Joker was handcuffed, and Red hood killed him cold blooded cuz he didn’t like what he said about him and what him feel 😂. Joker beat him again and made him kill and pull the trigger that’s what the joker wants, to make him and Batman suffer since killing is what Batman is against and Barbra knows that’s what he wants, it doesn’t go away by just killing someone, it’s a lot more complicated than that. That’s why Batman doesn’t kill, if he did, he will never be the same again, he will be lost like Red hood, and the fact Red hood used that against Barbra upsets her and made it seem like she was part of the murder using her trauma which upsets her, as Batman said in the comic “I wish Red Hood turned out like you” Barbra came out of it strong after what Joker did to her, she didn’t go down that dark path like red hood and Barbra doesn’t want to lose herself and what she stands for, and that is justice and not giving away what she believes in. She was upset by red hood actions and dragging her to it. She’s traumatic and was emotional, Jason took away what she was finding strength from, what drives her to be good and better. You people need to use your brain for once not everything is simple and straight forward, it’s a human being. Violence is never the answer.

Honestly at this stage the only member of the bat family with good morals is Jason Todd. I mean the joker has killed thousands of innocent people yet they are actually upset about his death and didn’t want him killed, as if they would’ve been happier for him to survive and go on killing. Their black and white attitude to murder is so infuriating for these apparent heroes that they will view the murder of a serial killer and the deaths of thousands of innocents as the same thing
Meh or the city could change the laws and execute these criminals. It's not their fault nobody else will legally do the right thing.

Phenomenal series! Beautifully drawn, and great story. I love Red Hood, and I think they should have a second storyline about him. Maybe becoming stronger?
