Try reselling an iPhone 2 years after owning one, you could recoup 80% of your original purchase price. I want to samsung because I wanted a larger screen, the screen broke whilst in my pocket, nothing else was in my pocket and I was just walking along, same thing happened to my friend. Am I really the only one that has absolutely no problem with Apple and Android? I had an iphone 4s, now have a Galaxy S5. Have an apple desktop and laptop and an android tablet. I like both, and Samsung is a huge company, I think it's bigger than Apple even, don't quote me on that though. I don't see the need for the fight between the two anymore

I can own up to the fact that Apple doesn't do everything right and neither do other companies. I understand the draw to android and apple. The LG G3 is a gorgeous phone as well as the HTC One M8. For some reason I haven't totally jumped on the Samsung wagon but I wouldn't call them crappy that's for sure.

Why so many negative comments from android users? I'm typing this out on my 5 and have been to see the 6 and I like it a lot! My own son had a new LG G3 last week and that's a nice phone. People worry too much about what other people want in life and not about their own life... If I want the 6 I will have the 6! It really annoys me that the smaller version isn't 1080p. That's the one I want but after having used a Galaxy S4 I don't wanna downgrade my screen resolution. Ughh so disappointed. That's not even mentioning the camera specs.

I went from the iPhone 4s to the Note 3, I love the design of the new iPhone 6 and 6+, and the fact that you can find every phone accessory that's out there so easily for the iPhone. Something I don't have with my Note 3. but the specs really disappoint me and I love having the customization options that android offers. In a perfect world I would have an iPhone combined with android specs and features.

the iPhone 6 has a great design but it is still late in its specs compared to other android phones. The LG G3 for example, has a 13 MP rear camera and a 2.1 MP front camera, a 2K screen resolution, it has a better processor, the price is lower of course, etc.
It's because Apple likes to do a slow release. They are past the point of innovation which is painfully obvious if you've ever been over to Asian countries where companies release tech before it even hits US market besides the millions of lawsuits. Overall though some people prefer the iOS over the Android. I happen to like iOS way more as well in terms of the camera my point and shoot still takes better photos than either phone. The only features I want the iPhone to get would be the water resistance and the unbreakable screen, but I wonder if they can do that without sacrificing their design. Overall if you have the iPhone 5 you don't need to update at all it's still basically the same specs. However some people just like to upgrade or they are like me and it's a write off if you use it for work so you can at least justify it somewhat.
Apple doesn't have to play the spec game because the OS is highly optimized for the hardware. Benchmarks of the 5S last year blew away the competition that had quad/octa cores with over 2ghz. Seems like the iPhone 6 is still on par with the latest flagships, even with a measly 1.4ghz dual core and paltry 1gb of RAM. Ask any photographer and they will tell you megapixels mean absolutely nothing in terms of camera quality or picture quality. In fact with such a small sensor like in a phone, more MP is actually WORSE because of image noise. Explain how the iPhone is regularly regarded to have one of the best smartphone cameras even though its "only" 8mp? Higher res screen just means more processing power and more battery usage. Beyond 400ppi there really is no point in higher resolutions. The cost vs actual tangible benefit ratio falls off a very steep cliff. The only reason is for bragging rights. Actual real world results of performance, fluidity, UI smoothness, picture quality speak for themselves. Android phones need to flaunt the specs to differentiate between other Android phones. Plus they actually NEED those crazy specs just to run smoothly and power the absurdly high ppi displays. If you don't like iOS or don't like Apple as a company, that's your decision. But dismissing the iPhone as a competitor purely on specs is just being ignorant.
Other phones too, run smoothly. I mean, why Apple can't do like others and come out with a phone with the same specs as the other android phones. So then we will be able to compare both phones on the experience and not on what's inside... And for the camera, i know the megapixels doesn't mean a huge thing. But why Apple don't integrate a 13 MP camera on the iPhone, and if their 8 MP is already better than others, they could definitely beat all their competitors. All what i mean, is that, if the iPhone is better today with its "late" specs , Apple could surely beat everyone if they come out with a phone which is "up to date" with the specs. I actually like Android based devices and iOS based devices. Both are good in their own individual right. I've been a long time Android user however I think I'm going to give the iPhone 6 Plus a try. I like how Apple is gravitating toward the larger phone market. I didn't like their previous phones because they were too small for me.

Therefore, the A8 (and A7) processor performs equivalent to dual-core processors that you see on computers. Android or windows phones that have an "quad-core" or "octa-core" is no way equivalent to a quad core processor you see on a desktop computer or laptop. Specs on paper are one thing, but performance is another thing. As a hardcore hockey leafs fan, I can say the toronto maple leafs look good on paper, but they suck year after year.
Except those kind of vehicles prices are justifiable and worth buying since they offer noticeably different driving experiences compared to a non-luxurious car, the iPhone and most Apple products are simply overpriced junk made to look and feel superior when in reality it is not at all. But keep thinking they are though.

You have to root samsung phones to be able to make the OS more smooth and reliable, even then I've heard some people said that rooting doesn't improve anything at all. I owned a note 3 and I honestly never used the features it provided after 2 weeks and it was still freezing and shutting down on me. How is 1gb of ram useless when the 5s were in par or faster then note3 and s5 in benchmarks and speed test? I've abused my 5s and it has not cracked, not even scratched (Bent frame and scuffs on the frames though) I go without a case btw. It's all about how you can take care of your phone though, your samsung could crack just as easy.

The point most people miss about Apple is that Apple is not really a technology company; it is a marketing company that happens to sell technology (very well, thank you very much). Yes, it does produce tech products but if you look past the hype and their “revolutionary” products (a shame when a perfectly good word is reduced to being meaningless by being misapplied ad nauseum), and if you look at what their real bottom line goal is, what you see is a wonderfully crafty marketing organization. A marketing organization whose goal is to tempt you to use its technology so that they can get you locked in for forever and a day into their ecosystem that means they will be getting a cut out of whatever you purchase while within it. This is why they are so profitable. Steve Jobs may not have been anyone you would have wanted as a friend - if you like nice people for friends - but no one would ever accuse him of being a dummy! lol He created an organization and a mystique for Apple that was built on catering to image; knowing full well that if he could get kids hooked on his products - the single most image conscious segment of human society - and keep them hooked on Apple and even get them to define cool and Apple as one in the same - little details like reality and wise buying decisions would fall by the wayside. and like the Jesuits that say, “Give me a young man as a boy and I will guarantee you his religion for life.” (or words to that effect) Jobs knew that people keep habits. Does Apple make a good product - of course. The problem is that the price they exact in terms of what you must submit to, in my opinion, is no where near commensurate, nor justifiable, for the return. Apples and Oranges. You can't compare specs from two devices running entirely different operating systems. And in all fairness, the only QuadHD that's fantastic, is the one on the Note 4. Next to the iPhone 6, LG G3 display just doesn't look all that special.
I just returned from Portland. My iPhone died, and I had to go to the nearest Apple store to get it checked out. It turned out to be a hardware failure, so there was nothing they could do to fix it. And unfortunately, the one year warranty had just expired a few weeks ago. I asked the technician if he had the authority to make an executive decision and over-ride the expired warranty problem and hook me up with a new phone so I would not have to buy a new one. He said he could not do that, but he went to consult with his supervisor, to see what he could do. He came back with a brand-new phone for me. He said that there was no way to directly extend the warranty period, but he got permission to process the purchase of a new phone, but then simply not collect the money from me. Instead, the store just ate the cost and took it as a loss. This kind of awesome customer service is why Apple is on top of their game. They have created a loyal customer, and they will now get repeated word-of mouth advertising (the most effective kind) from this customer. It would be hard to quantify the profitability of what they did for me, but when you consider the compound effect of that kind of business philosophy, it is no surprise that Apple is a phenomenon of global marketing success.

So if you don't get it, let me explain this in more detail: Looks are subjective, the G3 has on screen buttons, but the iPhone can't have them because first - there's only one button, and second - it has a built in fingerprint scanner. If you've seen the phone in person, you'd notice that the sides aren't as thick as you might think. They are thicker than the G3's, but not by much. The iPhone is also thinner than the G3.

It's because Apple likes to do a slow release. They are past the point of innovation which is painfully obvious if you've ever been over to Asian countries where companies release tech before it even hits US market besides the millions of lawsuits. Overall though some people prefer the iOS over the Android. I happen to like iOS way more as well in terms of the camera my point and shoot still takes better photos than either phone. The only features I want the iPhone to get would be the water resistance and the unbreakable screen, but I wonder if they can do that without sacrificing their design. Overall if you have the iPhone 5 you don't need to update at all it's still basically the same specs. However some people just like to upgrade or they are like me and it's a write off if you use it for work so you can at least justify it somewhat.

Apple doesn't have to play the spec game because the OS is highly optimized for the hardware. Benchmarks of the 5S last year blew away the competition that had quad/octa cores with over 2ghz. Seems like the iPhone 6 is still on par with the latest flagships, even with a measly 1.4ghz dual core and paltry 1gb of RAM.
Ask any photographer and they will tell you megapixels mean absolutely nothing in terms of camera quality or picture quality. In fact with such a small sensor like in a phone, more MP is actually WORSE because of image noise. Explain how the iPhone is regularly regarded to have one of the best smartphone cameras even though its "only" 8mp?
Higher res screen just means more processing power and more battery usage. Beyond 400ppi there really is no point in higher resolutions. The cost vs actual tangible benefit ratio falls off a very steep cliff. The only reason is for bragging rights.
Actual real world results of performance, fluidity, UI smoothness, picture quality speak for themselves. Android phones need to flaunt the specs to differentiate between other Android phones. Plus they actually NEED those crazy specs just to run smoothly and power the absurdly high ppi displays. If you don't like iOS or don't like Apple as a company, that's your decision. But dismissing the iPhone as a competitor purely on specs is just being ignorant.

So then we will be able to compare both phones on the experience and not on what's inside... And for the camera, i know the megapixels doesn't mean a huge thing. But why Apple don't integrate a 13 MP camera on the iPhone, and if their 8 MP is already better than others, they could definitely beat all their competitors. All what i mean, is that, if the iPhone is better today with its "late" specs , Apple could surely beat everyone if they come out with a phone which is "up to date" with the specs. And why the price of the iPhone is always higher than any other smartphones ?

I actually like Android based devices and iOS based devices. Both are good in their own individual right. I've been a long time Android user however I think I'm going to give the iPhone 6 Plus a try. I like how Apple is gravitating toward the larger phone market. I didn't like their previous phones because they were too small for me.
Apple's A8 (as well as the A7) chip, even though it's a dual core processor, has a desktop 64-bit architecture. Therefore, the A8 (and A7) processor performs equivalent to dual-core processors that you see on computers. Android or windows phones that have an "quad-core" or "octa-core" is no way equivalent to a quad core processor you see on a desktop computer or laptop.
Specs on paper are one thing, but performance is another thing. As a hardcore hockey leafs fan, I can say the toronto maple leafs look good on paper, but they suck year after year.

It just looks like something you'd pay alot of money for where as android looks pretty generic and the music players/messaging/phone/internet are all smoother, nicer looking and easier to use on the iPhone for most people, and considering i use my phone pretty much for just those things, i'm better off with my iPhone. I have an M8 as well because i had it before my 6 and i can't seem to sell it for around 60% of the original price now because nobody wants some no name phone. To each his own though its a fucking phone at the end of the day who really gives a shit.

NOLAItsNotOva The thing you are forgetting when you've listed these specs is that no body cares about them, not everyone thinks customizing your phone is useful. You have to root samsung phones to be able to make the OS more smooth and reliable, even then I've heard some people said that rooting doesn't improve anything at all. I owned a note 3 and I honestly never used the features it provided after 2 weeks and it was still freezing and shutting down on me. How is 1gb of ram useless when the 5s were in par or faster then note3 and s5 in benchmarks and speed test? I've abused my 5s and it has not cracked, not even scratched (Bent frame and scuffs on the frames though) I go without a case btw. It's all about how you can take care of your phone though, your samsung could crack just as easy.

Apples and Oranges. You can't compare specs from two devices running entirely different operating systems. And in all fairness, the only QuadHD that's fantastic, is the one on the Note 4. Next to the iPhone 6, LG G3 display just doesn't look all that special.

I just returned from Portland. My iPhone died, and I had to go to the nearest Apple store to get it checked out.
It turned out to be a hardware failure, so there was nothing they could do to fix it. And unfortunately, the one year warranty had just expired a few weeks ago.
I asked the technician if he had the authority to make an executive decision and over-ride the expired warranty problem and hook me up with a new phone so I would not have to buy a new one.
He said he could not do that, but he went to consult with his supervisor, to see what he could do.
He came back with a brand-new phone for me. He said that there was no way to directly extend the warranty period, but he got permission to process the purchase of a new phone, but then simply not collect the money from me.
Instead, the store just ate the cost and took it as a loss.
This kind of awesome customer service is why Apple is on top of their game. They have created a loyal customer, and they will now get repeated word-of mouth advertising (the most effective kind) from this customer.
It would be hard to quantify the profitability of what they did for me, but when you consider the compound effect of that kind of business philosophy, it is no surprise that Apple is a phenomenon of global marketing success.

As you said, there are 12 year old kids in western countries who barely tie their own shoelaces and get a new iPhone every year. Now apple needs to utilize the screen and not just scale it up. Any phone with a screen that big need apps to become hybrid and have unique features. An extra row or line of content isn't helping much. I have a feeling they'll leave that to developers and piggy back ride off it.

This move by Apple isn't a late one. The only reason I shifted from my iPhone4 to android was because of the screen size. I just switched back iOS and it's been an amazing decision.

So if you don't get it, let me explain this in more detail:
Looks are subjective, the G3 has on screen buttons, but the iPhone can't have them because first - there's only one button, and second - it has a built in fingerprint scanner. If you've seen the phone in person, you'd notice that the sides aren't as thick as you might think. They are thicker than the G3's, but not by much.
The iPhone is also thinner than the G3.
