Replaced the top speed sensor. Worked very well for few days. But same problem again I found that oil is coming through the speedo drive and goes into the sensor. My question is, does the oil normally comes through the gear or there is a seal to prevent oil.
Oil does get in there. It could be your differential bearing retaining bracket on the passenger side of the transmission. They're known to break. If it breaks the Diff is bouncing and causes the same issue. A bad thing is they don't sell them anymore. I had to machine one from solid aluminum block to fix my other accent. (I have four)
There's a million things that can affect the engine. The speed sensor running off the differential probably is not one of them. I've owned four Hyundai accents. All Gen 2 . If it's running rough 1. Check the plugs. This car does not like expensive platinum or iridium plugs. Use cheap NGK OEM plugs and change frequently. 2. Check for vacuum leaks. Spray carb cleaner around the intake and see if the Rev's change. This car is bad for getting leaks at the intake. Also check around the fuel injectors and make sure they're seated correctly. 3. If there's no leaks - Check & clean the injectors. 4. Make sure the PCV valve is clean & working. 5. The last thing is check your two coil packs - And wires for a bad coil pack or grounding. Remember though that if you've used expensive plugs it will act like you've got a bad coil pack. So change and put NGK's in first.
Help! Single mom who's been working on my 2005 Hyundai Accent (no abs) Speedometer is at 0 when driving and the Odometer does not keep count. Where is the location of the odometer. Where are those sensors? Thank you!

Hi, is the faulty speed sensor only affects reading on the speedo or it will also effect the engine i.e engine judder and not running smoothly
