Snow Plow Truck Accident: Recovery & Tow
Вставка
- Опубліковано 14 жов 2024
- In this video I head out on the road with Sonny's Service Of Avoca LLC and watch as they up right a tipped over plow truck. In the past 24hrs upstate NY got blasted with some heavy wet snow and unfortunately none of the back roads were frozen making it very difficult for the town ships to plow. Soft shoulders and deep ditches are the worst nightmare when trying to wing back the banks for these guys. -Enjoy!

Thank God for hard working men like your brother. Truly the backbone of this country.
Cant tell you how much I enjoyed this video. Noticed that Jeep hat still lives in the latest videos.
Great to see that even snow and sub zero weather doesn't stop some people showing bum crack....
Thanks for the tour of upstate NY. Us western folk forget it's not all NYC.
Man I don't miss that a bit. Glad there are guys like your brother to do it. At least he has a decent wrecker to do it with. When I drove a wrecker we had a old Ford that was half dead and didn't have a wheel lift.
I've spent more time than I care to think about going with wreckers to get equipment back on the road. After 35 1/2 years, I decided that I had enough, I don't miss the work, just the people that I worked with.
WIth all that weight I'm amazed he could steer at all. My toes were curling when he rounded that first bend.
I grew up in New England and I don't miss winter at all. And you get it 100 times worse than we got it.
Slow and steady wins the race. He did a great job
9:32. "you the guy that goes around making the potholes" LOL! Erics one liners are the best!
Road Dept job security. :D
Not to mention, SMA job security. As long as it's not on the road back to the homestead.
I can see the next Urbana Town auction now.. One lightly used, one owner dump truck. Was running when parked. No known issues. Make offer.. Thanks for this video. Your brother did a nice job with this..
30 years in the snow and ice business I quickly learned that picking up plow trucks is a part of it. They were lucky it had dirt in the box. If it had been salt the EPA makes you clean it and fine you.
Well done! Used to operate an interstate semi wrecker. The wreckers have changed, but the principles - never. Luckily, no one was injured.
As long as everybody gets home safe, nothing else matters.
I drove wrecker for several years in the 70's in Minnesota. This video gives me all kinds of nostalgic warm fuzzies.
That's a nasty job and long hours when the weather gets bad and the accidents start...Doug earns his $$. Big rigs, heavy maintenance reserved not for everyone. Great job by Doug and his crew.
Years ago the same thing happened to my wife's van. She was fighting with me about what I wanted to do and she got out of the van. I turned traction control off and petal to the floor. Wham bam thank-you-ma'am the van was not stuck and we were on our way.
I drove over the road for a year. From Houston, never driven in blizard conditions. Followed a plow truck south on US 77 across Nebraska Kansas. Sheriff stopped at a small store with truck parking. After parking, asked Sheriff why he had us stop, there were 4 other trucks behind me, he said that was the county line and plow truck wasn't going any farther. Thanks Eric!
Your parents raised you and your brother right. Great work ethic and tremendous knowledge. God bless you both.
I guess the guy who welded that "D" loop on the side of that dump bed obviously did a fairly good job! LOL 🤣
Must have been a monday
I've been towing for almost 20 years so I feel your brothers pain lol.He did a great job I couldnt have done better myself. It's tough to see grading on camera but that long shot really put it in perspective.
I understand also. I di almost 30 years in the industry-first at a local garage, then in business for ourselves. The big/heavy work is a lot more taxing, but also more rewarding. Missed many a meal and nights of no sleep.
Not only are you a great mechanic/technician, you make a great news video reporter too. Man of many talents. Great video reporting.
That sweet sweet sound of the ole jack hammer going down hill.
Hard working men keeping the country going.
Thank your Brother for us, really appreciate you guys bringing along for this one.
I laughed for several minutes about your comment on the “ metric crescent wrench ).Your showmanship adds greatly to your high level mechanical dexterity. I’ve watch you many hours with much enjoyment. I’m retired in Michigan but have much time in the beautiful Finger Lakes area of NY.
A whole new respect for the Tow Truck Drivers...Great vidio
It was a nice treat to see some footage outside of the shop for this Sunday. We all can learn a great lesson from this as most people don't realize how many hours these men and women endure to make sure our roads are clear. As stated in the video, some are working with a few hours sleep in a 24 hour period so it's best to give them plenty of room when you see them driving down the road. I can remember when I lived up north, it was a staple to see the town plows out plowing and salting. I preferred when they used sand since it did less damage to my car. Informative video. Lol
These big ass truck vids are always gold. Good stuff
Snow Plough Crashes - Over to our man at the scene , Eric O :-)
Loved it!
Towing and plowing snow, probably the worst and most dangerous jobs in the winter, be safe and have a great day!!
Eric thank you for your time to take us along
Eric, Ya just keep knockin it outta the park man. Your mix of wrenchin, diag and misc videos are second to none. Sunday mornin with the doctor is must see tv.
My thoughts exactly. These are the kind of guys who keep things rolling when the going gets tough. All in a days work. You know the drill; "When the going gets tough, the tough get going". IMO that applies in this scenario. Gr8 job guys.
@@paulkirkland1535 Yep just another day in the office.
Great video to show how hard humans have to work in bad weather and in difficult situations Thanks Eric
This is nothing compared to some that they go on.
I saw big R put a set of wiggle wagons through a guardrail and down a mountainside on the PA Pike one time. Was a couple hundred yards behind him. Heard the driver miraculously walk away. Cant imagine how they ever retrieved the wreckage!!
Highly skilled recovery, great job. Stay warm and thank you!
No wining hear, awesome video
Your brother is a Steely eyed wheel man..
Nice job fellas!
Glad to see you’re working with your brother again, man!
Cheers Eric, this video made me pause to think just how fortunate we all are, seeing the risks all those people do to make our roads safer, and thankful to everybody who comes out to help when things go dangerously wrong. What a great public awareness video this is, I'm always learning through all your great SMA channel videos...thank you
As retired law enforcement, always gave wide berth to the heavy tow guys, great video,
LEO's are pretty good to these guys up here
Very cool video, Eric O. We live at 1,200’ on the road to Lake Tahoe, no snow here. I didn’t know side dump snow plows existed. Now I’ve learned about them. Watching your channel on my iPad is better than watching TV!
Great video, loved the sound of the Jake coming down the mountain. This was better than Ice Road Truckers because getting up that rise and down the mountain had genuine risk involved. 👍👍
Hey Eric, if any of your viewers are in the area the Glenn Curtiss museum is pretty darn neat. A good place to check out with an awesome workshop you can walk through where guys build antique aircraft from the original plans.
Growing up on the west coast I really liked this video, it shows how much more tough it is living in the rust belt definitely a slower but more respectful lifestyle I can appreciate what it take to grow up in those climates and also I'm a truck driver by trade and thank the Lord I don't have to deal with this.
I spent 2 years in the desert Southwest -best 2 years of my life! Was like another planet being able to leave the house without ever having to watch the weather. Phoenix was blue skies every day, except for a couple times during monsoon season. I sure miss it. The older I get, the more I despise the cold, but I just layer up and carry on. :)
need to do more of that eric that was great we all get to see what your brother is up to these days I like these vids try to do more if you can that was a great add-on to your regular vids say hi to the family and god bless you all for the work you do to keep America running one step at a time.
Man, those tow rigs amaze me. Even a standard tow truck is cool but these beasts... Just incredible in engineering and design. It's crazy to think of how many decades it took to get them to this point.
The only thing I love more than SMA road trips are the junkyard runs!!
LOL ice road truckers get busted !! Easy work, no dramatic music .. excellent video, and a pleasant change ...
This is an awesome video!.......................Eric THANKS for sharing!..............................The sheer beauty of where you live is incredible!
Sad to hear that your guy's father has passed away. Thoughts and prayers to your family.
Brothers making big money and working hard. Great video.
We live in NY and travel to Watkins Glen to race which is in SMA's neck of the woods. Route 14 from Geneva to the Glen is a beautiful drive with the vineyards and the view of Seneca Lake. Just a great drive with fantastic scenery. As seen, not so much in the winter.
Watkins Glen state park is amazing in the summer. One of the nicest places in the state imo.
Agreed. We have walked the gorge a couple of times. Love the area.
Now there's a real combo; Eric and Doug, two of Avoca's finest.
Eric O., just enjoyed the snowplow rescue you assisted your brother on. I live in a little farming community, Crowley, Louisiana. No snow here, thank God. I really enjoy your channel.
Stay safe. I also own and drive a 2009 Suburban, not a spec of rust anywhere on the thing.
years ago my mom and dad had a cottage on Kueka lake near Bluff Point.....winery's everywhere.....amazing view and vibe....
Beautiful area Eric. Never been to upper NY. Been to New York City once back in the 60s.
Eric, takes me back. I was born in PennYan , on Keuka Lake, family moved to California when I was two. Moved back to Keuka Lake when I was nine. Lived between Branchport and Pulteney. Went to Hammondsport elementary for one year. We stayed on our family farm, we no longer owned. House was empty, we new the farmer who farmed the property. We had our famous hill, Chidsey Hill Rd. I helped rebuild the engine in my dads 46' chevy 1 1/2 ton truck that year. First exposure to mechanics.
Glad the road was in good shape on that steep part
Great job on the video👍🏻
GREAT VIDEO!
Did that in Essex Co NJ for several years to supplement my income,
snow plow and salt truck .
I had a 94' Buick lesabre. That thing was a beast in snow.
Eric
Brings back memories when I was a mechanic for the Indiana Dept.of Highways. 1984 to 88. Really enjoyed the video. Staying clean like you now doing emissions and diagnostic repairs now.
Yeah I think I will pass if a job opening for a heavy wrecker service opens up in Avoca... Hats off to Sonny!
Early squad! Your channel literally just keeps getting better+better. Love it.
Crazy rescue of the snow plow wow !
I agree with the MotorCity Mechanic. Watching that scenery is so beautiful from Georgia. Though it was 35 degrees out this morning when I went to get some doughnuts.
I watch a guy work on a flipped over truck...in a warm living room and I felt I was there. Living in Orlando ...cars zero rust. Lol....I’m looking at the smoke coming out of their breath and thinking damn it’s cold... these boys are tuff. Cold is for the young..light jackets ,,work gloves. I’ll pass on this job...not even going to get into up all night..or the wind. Coming thru the camera...like the bonding of the brothers. Nice to see in this crazy world,,,last but not least. I always lol. When I see mechanics driving new trucks even though they could fix a clunker for nothing,,
Good stuff...did that in DFW for close to a decade with a 50 ton Champion on a 1979 359 Pete...would pull the fangs out of a big hole dinosaur. God Bless!
Wow I know you're probably tired of snow and ice but that's really beautiful. It was 70° here today. 75° on Friday I got a sunburn mowing my lawn. All of us in Alabama have no idea what real snow looks like.
You combined Ice Road Truckers with Highway Through Hell! Also, "Pushing back the Banking" The guy from Boston is great! I'm thinking I watch to much TV, UA-cam.
Awesome video Eric!!! We don't have plow trucks like that here in California
Awesome job, being up 36 hrs straight doing this, steep ass roads, dirt to top it all off, wow, glad nobody got hurt.
Really liked this video.. A shot of different is always welcome.
Eric, shows great brotherly love for each other.
EricO, you had a great opportunity to show your viewers how to do an LOF on a big rig when that puppy was on its' side. :)
AWSOME to see you and your bro out on wrecker calls,I was a truck tech for 30 years, cant do it anymore my knees are toast.Used to do wrecker calls to back in the day. They can be a big challenge at times, great job fellas
Love, it, Thanks. More of the Family.
that was great change in video. thoroughly enjoyed
Love the extra videos Eric. The more the merrier. If I hadn't found your channel I still would have thought that New YORK was nothing but city streets and sky scrapers, then the dense suburbs all jabbed in around that. I gotta say that it's as sweet looking as the hills of Kentucky and Pennsylvania! Thanks. Jpol.
Been out that way a few times and your right it's beautiful out there
Had a ball watching the recovery. I'd bet Doug will sleep good tonight. Something different and fun. Loved it.
Man, listen to that engine brake. Sweet music. I'm not a truck driver but I love that sound. Great video.
It looks like brother should start his own youtube channel! Awesome video!
Let me add to the excitement........drop the temps. and watch the fun really begin. ie. freezing rain.............
Plowed for four years in Colorado. Never again. Way too much stress! Great video. Thanks Eric!
Steve Dave Whereabouts in Colorado? Up here in Loveland people have no respect for the plow.
I was up in Elmira January of 1978 which is probably before you were born. Pretty country up there. Reminds me of New Hampshire when I live there.
You got a great sense of humor.
Excellent video lovely to see the area, and your brothers skills. Great viewing, loved hearing that Jake brake working
Nice change of pace video. Beautiful country almost hate to see winter end but I am ready for spring.
Well executed. Glad everyone is OK.
Bet they are all getting sick of the white lumpy rain by now.
Big Cummins with jake brake ,with bum cheeks gripping the seat ,your brother running on adrenaline, enjoyed the video
Love the sound of a Jake brake
I have never commented on a video in all the years that I've been watching, but...... This has to be one of the best videos for heavy recovery that I've seen. The recovery work and effort was excellent and the video editing was outstanding.
All utubers (whether towers or not) should note the editing efforts.
20 years in the heavy towing and recovery business.
Finger lakes region is a beautiful area. Camped out there for a summer when I was young. The Buick LeSabre is the number one Postal vehicle in the area. Easy to sit in the passenger seat and reach the wheel and pedals.
Wow. All you O-boys have some parts of your life that elicit the pucker-factor in us sheltered city-folk. :) Cheers, Boys.
That's some truck your Brother has! Could have used his help here in Ireland these last few days haha the snow is finally thawing and the kids are back to school tomorrow. I hope he got some sleep finally!
It is a tough job but it is definitely needed both a blow and a big rig recovery your brother has done this a time or 2 his experience shows just like yourself good video
Merry Christmas to you and Mrs.O! Kindest regards from Sunshine Coast,BC
A beautiful sound off that wrecker truck
Thank you Eric. That was a nice switch for a change. I enjoyed it very much.
More truck vids please Eric 👍🏻. Be funny to see misses O driving one
