If you are on an ATV, chances are you are using one for some kind of job or activity where being quiet or quieter is to your advantage. Be that a farmer checking on livestock in the field, a hunter chasing game or just someone wanting to enjoy the outdoors. This is where this electrically powered ATV shines. Not to mention the power and relative ease of maintenance as well as no need for changing gears. I'll admit, we have gotten so used to machines making a reassuring sound to let us know its working, that it still feels odd and unnerving to see a quiet machine actually move. That's my problem and something I and others of like mind will have to get used to. The fact that you are recharging it from your homemade water turbine is just fantastic. Both ecologically and financially! Merry Christmas to you and your family.

Marty obviously built the FREE quad to use on his own off grid property and he is availing FREE electricity to fuel his FREE quad.
He owns a portable power station and a portable generator. Marty also owns portable solar panels that he can also use to charge the quads battery.
According to your mentality, he would have to be tied to a petrol station to keep the other quad running or did you forget already that his home is currently off grid and he would have to drive for miles in both directions to get to a petrol station ????
So tell me again how Marty is tied to the river?

Just for people not familiar--the Decibel scale is not linear--so for the sake of easy comparison one can say that every 5 dB is about twice as loud. So 20 dB difference is 2 x 2 x 2 x 2 times as loud...or 16 times. Of course our perception doesn't quite hear it that way but that is roughly the sound energy difference. Always nice to see the jaw-droppingly talented Mrs T participating. For those who haven't yet, head over to her channel and see her paintings. You will be amazed and wish you had one for your house.
Back in my snowmobile days everyone wanted louder exhausts under the guise of being more powerful. I wanted a quieter machine. Marty has a real winner. The ending scene was marvelous.
I’m a current snowmobile guy, and I can tell you that I hate the loud “mountain cans” on sleds. They echo for miles, and make us look bad.

I really hope some ATV Companies catch the drift and think about building electric ones. It’s fast, very quiet and it’s could put power down much more efficiently when it has a smaller motor in each wheel.
Seems like they would make great toys.

I love your creek. As a kid I played for hours at such places. I'm still kid enough to want to pile rocks to make small pools and waterfalls.
I sometimes lift a few rocks and find fresh water crays

I love this! I'm a life long petrol head, converted to Ev's. I still love petrol engines but EVs offer so many advantages. It is so refreshing to see a comment feed so positive about what you have achieved here!
Thanks mate, it was a challenging, time consuming build with all the issues going on in the old used parts but I learned a lot along the way. Well worth the effort

There are some countries/parts of countries where all power is basically hydro. So not the world's first water power quad, but notable and fun nonetheless.
Norway is 90% hydro on the entire grid. Last 10% is wind. Its been done before 😅

That's a win win Marty. I could easily see me trading my gasoline powered ATV for an all electric version if they could come up with a 4 wheel drive model for a price comparable to an equal sized gas version. I know not everyone needs a 4 wheel drive model but some of us do with the terrain we get in to. I don't need a lot of range out of an ATV so that's not a problem. Can't say the same for my choice in automobiles. EV's just don't have the daily range to suit my needs.

Atvs are irrelevant to the whole fossil usage in the grand scheme. Mass transport is where the subsidies should be directed

The messus has a crack !
In case your interested Marty a that 22db difference between the 4x4 could result in roughly 300% increase of perceived volume as every 6-10db increase doubles the perceived volume. Textbook would be 10 but it’s a human perspective so there is a variation. I know which one my tinnitus would prefer:)
I still prefer gasoline engines. On an ATV, it’s rarely the engine that needs tinkering but more likely work out suspension components. Very cool conversion though!
