- The Backlogs accidentally left the door open so I just let myself in. Here's me having a go at that One Shot Contest all the other Soulstubers have been doing.

Since I included it in the video, here is why I think Fire Surge counts as one attack: There is no distinction between pressing or holding the attack button in either The Backlog's or Vageta311's rules. Much like Fire Tempest, Fire Surge factors in buffs from BEFORE the first cast. This means if the first cast didn't have the Red Tearstone Ring buff, even if the player's health later drops into the appropriate range the buff still won't be applied to any subsequent casts. Something something, Pannenkoek2012's Half A-Press Theorem.

Question: If Priscilla cannot be one shot without softlocking your save, but the Fire Surge spell is allow to "one shot" the Four Kings, does that mean Priscilla can also be one shot using Fire Surge?
@@soullesspgamer9198possible, but Lemon said she doesn't give a point Anyways because he didn't want the chance for soft locking, and giving thought to it, it's probably for the best.
So if the deadline was in May, does that mean Lemon is holding all of the footage back so the people who are part of the challenge can post their runs first?

I have a very specific question, lemon.
While not mentioned in a wiki, the undead soldier who closes the gate in Undead Parish does not respawn. Do you qualify him as a miniboss? Technically he is the same as most black knights, where if they don't respawn they count, but if they do, they don't count.
This is an awesome challenge. Hopefully you guys do similar ones with the other souls games.

Wow... a perfect score and the world's first 4 kings one shot. I never ever would have considered fire surge. When I did DS3 no stamina, I could hardly even kill a crystal lizard with it. It never even came to mind that it could do massive damage in DS1. Well, evidently for 12 years no one considered it. Incredible performance and I think this shows that meaty Jesus is the second coming of the little less meaty one.

Meaty's endurance is absolutely nuts. One of the few people to one shot Manus glitchless, and was the FIRST. PERSON. IN TWELVE YEARS. TO ONE SHOT. THE FOUR KINGS. Mate may be B list by popularity, but he's most certainly S tier when it comes to content.

This does require that you use the one button press definition versus one instance of damage.
@@Ornithopter470 the other pyromancies also have multi hits with 1 button press tho. Like chaos storm hits multiple times, and as far as I am aware that is "allowed" in most "1 shot" runs
@@dariuszupan8145 they also have a single animation, unlike Fire Whip. I'm not denying that it's a one-shot. Just that the definition had to be changed from "one damage instance" to "one button press"

I just want to chime in and say, as much as I enjoy the other creators in general and their DS one shot runs, you KILLED it! Not even because your performance was so amazing; I found myself genuinely laughing out loud at some of the things you said. The Vegeta hollow editing (and editing across the board) was superb! That Four Kings should definitely count as a one shot, and it's impressive as hell, this contest should be all yours.
How is it one shot? If so, that means you can use crossbows that allow you to shoot continuously when you hold down the button.

Massively impressed by the Fire Surge strat. Would have never crossed my mind since I would assume the damage would be much too low, and if I thought it could be enough I would assume I would need to hit three or four Kings at once instead of sorta just two so it would again appear impossible, the damage simply doesn't appear to be enough, no wonder apparently no one ever thought of doing that before! Ingenious move to just think "yeah, that'll do" and go for it.
Well done sir, it may not mean alot coming from me but as a demon's souls veteran. This is really awesome to finally see in a legitimate manner and such good quality. Thanks for closing the book on this chapter of the fandom

24:48 pro tip: in order to roll after sprinting, you need to hold the L1 block button. You cannot jump while blocking, so the game will force you into a roll.
oh my god is that why speedrunners always block while running? firstly so that if they do get hit its a block but mainly to roll on command?? wow i never even realized
@benschmitt7035 Yes. A lot of people complain about the fact that ds1 had poor control management with roll/jump, but if you want to roll while running you simply need to block.

great video dude, I just finished my "annual" dark souls play through and was super satisfying to watch all those aholes get one shot. Especially the 4 kings, as I fought them without havelling for the first time and realized how much I really hate them. The editing was great too.

Also side note, you can hold shield in Dark Souls 1 to stop the jump out of sprint. Youll roll. Back in the original release of the game you couldnt remap jump, so it was how I did it
