I pulled a Phyrexian Foiled sheoldred and was planning on building a deck around it instead of keeping it in my Jodah's 99. I'm so glad to see this come up.
I managed to pull one as well and was acting a fool 😂 then I ended up pulling the alternative version and two of the regular art. If you really want to hurt some feelings, add these cards.. Bloodchief ascension, Mindcrank, and Sanguine Bond. There’s a couple other cards that keeps the combo going onto other players. Also having cabal coffers would do you good
My buddy and I went to buy a few packs and I let him grab his first and then I got mine. Boy was he pissed when I drew Sheoldred lmfao. I haven't used it in any deck yet, I just stare at it proudly sometimes.
It probably doesn't get said enough: I love the editing techniques used in these. Background choices really work, and the transitions comfortably let me collect my thoughts.
I’m glad I saw Lich’s Mastery in this deck. I have them sitting in the binder and just wanted a use for them.
Also a semi-infinite in queza augur of agonies

I use her in witherbloom. When I trigger him with her and vilis on board I untap my lands, draw 10 cards, and gain 10 more life than I lose for each activation... its dirty
It's good in any deck capable of playing her because every deck wants to draw cards. It literally makes every Black cards that normally costs you life instead gain life in most cases.
Sign in Blood? Gain 2 instead of lose 2. Night's Whisper? Same.
Pjyrexian Arena? Gain 1!
Read the Bones? Gain life!

It's a few bucks, but reliquary tower is a must for that lich's mastery combo. Guaranteed to draw it after the combo resolves, and you get to keep your deck in your hand rather than choosing your 7 best cards and losing the rest.
Absolutely. I feel like there’s a whole second tier of content available for these budget builds, doing a 10 card/20 card or small budget/unlimited budget upgrades. The eponymous Sanguine Bond/Exquisite Blood combo also will post bodies in this deck.
Don't forget Spellbook. If you already had your land drop or if your opponent has land destruction and you know it, Spellbook is a perfect zero-mana alternative.
My buddy has a commander that makes you discard all cards from your hand of his chosen color.. wouldn’t this kill you in a single turn?
@@CommandrAppoit would make him discard his hand.. you could just play bane of progress instead for a guaranteed kill
Peer into the Abyss is also a nice oneshot for any opponent. But it's above the 1 dollar line
I love this combo, I built a dimir control 60 around getting the fragile combo off with my one copy of each peer and Sheoldred and it's become my favorite deck. Rarely get a chance to hit it but when I do, shiiiiiiiittttt

got it when I built Queza a while back. cast it on yourself to kill someone outright and possibly go above 40 life. not to mention i have 40 cards in hand to kill everyone else.
peer on self with sanguin bond and feast of sanity. destroy one player with +2 life on draw x half your library with sanguine bond. use auther flux to destroy the 2nd. deal 1 x number of cards discarded back to 7 to kill the 3rd opponent.
I've got Peer into the Abyss in my Queza, Augur of Agonies deck. Such a fun card, naturally you play it on yourself in that deck
I have the phytexian script and the stained glass of this card already so I can make my first commander deck with this
I love this card, have two physical copies and it has won me so many games in MTG arena as well.

Sheoldred is an amazing card. I have her in my Queza deck as a 2nd commander. Yes i tutor for it everytime. And boom the game becomes more of a political battle to not get ganged up on by the other 3 players. " look the card is only slowly pinging you. Look he has Ur-dragon. That's the threat. "

A friend and I have pulled each an sheoldred out of the display we opened together. He got a phyrexien and I pulled a normal one. We where both very happy about it and I can't wait to do some stuff with my sheo ^^ thanks for this.
You are great at deckmaking! This deck cost about 1/3 of the Sheoldred deck I tried to put together and is way more powerful!
Not seeing Seizan in this deck gives me the feels bads…it’s an auto 6 life on your opponents turns every turn!!
Many people would agree with you since Seizan is as expensive as Sheoldred now. However, even before the price spike it wouldn’t have fit the budget of this specific deck.
I put Seizan in mine.
I premade a deck for this sheoldred before it’s release then pulled her from a set booster that I bought the day of release. I played this deck against my friends the next chance I got and won despite all of them making a temporary alliance to get rid of me first. One of them described playing against this deck anxiety inducing and making you feel like you’ve contracted a plague and are dying from it. I now only play the deck on special occasions.

As soon as I saw this card, this made me want to make a deck for her. But then I had something else in mind... Hopefully we get to know what Elesh Norn's and Gix' new cards are soon, because I have a feeling that I am going to go wild with making some new Praetor decks.

I pulled off a combo with sheoldred and litches mastery and jace, it was a ninjutsu deck and it was awesome, I also like her and villis

@@akira-qr4qm some cards are worth that much. Maybe not this one. Luckily, my play group plays almost exclusively with proxies. One of my friends had a $40,000 deck stolen.
Was lucky enough to pull this out of my first booster pack, and the only DMU one I bought. This might be the spur I needed to start building a deck around it. It's too good not to use and I don't plan to sell it.
Coveted Jewel is such an inspired choice.

if you want to break the bank on this deck put in sanguine bond and exquisite blood. either makes her just silly and both just wins the game.
That combo happened in my play group. We promptly banned it.
Teferri's Puzzle Box should definitely be a part of every Sheoldred deck.

I'm surprised you mentioned Lich's Mastery, but didn't add in the one and only card that kills everybody after playing Lich's Mastery; said card being Sickening Dreams, which is 1B sorcery, discard any number of cards, each player then loses life equal to the number of cards discarded this way.
you wouldn't die because of Lich's Mastery.
@@ravenoctavious depends. Because you would lose life, you'd then have to exile cards from your hand or permanents you control. Once liches mastery is out you can't lose more than 99 life because at some point you have to exile liches mastery.
For a similar reason, aetherflux reservoir only works as a one shot for one person.
@@matthewcox69 trigger goes on the stack after damage is dealt. If everyone dies the game ends before lich's mastery trigger goes off. You definitely don't kill yourself unless you screw up the stack somehow or are just really bad at simple math
@Matthew Cox doesn't matter, you can exile from your graveyard. So draw your deck, discard into exile and win
lich's mastery value going wayyyyyy up. thank goodness I got it in foil for like a nickel when Queza came out.
pulled this from pre-release put all my force draw cards in there and ping on draw cards. I recommend adding Teferis Puzzle box, My friends hate the deck cause i can deal upwards to 30+ damage to them on draw step.

Been wanting to build another mono black commander thats not zombies and pulled the concept art version of Sheoldred the apocalypse couple days ago, think she is perfect!
I got an aetherflux reservoir that i think would make this quite fun with the life gain just dump 50 at 2 opponents than play lichs mastery and exile half my deck to finish the last real quick
Tallyman of Nurgle is pretty good for this deck too
I added a well of Lost dreams for continual health gain.

Yep. I'm not able to build this deck. My play group already told me that if I sit down at the table with her, they will hold their counter spells and removal for her regardless of what else is on the table.
I feel like that level of hate is a bit extreme, but whatever.... So Sheoldred is in the 99 of my Lynde the Cheerful Tormentor deck instead.
@@Alice_Haukea kind of counterintuitively, casual EDH favours slow decks with not really interesting commanders. It’s just better if the deck fully sets up once everybody run out of removal and already have less then 20 life.

my Golden Pik for this Deck would have been "Peer into the Abyss", it outright kills one player when you cast it while having Sheoldred.

How do you recommend I change this deck to deal with a child of alara deck? It will just destroy my commander so often that I won't be able to achieve my win condition...

I do love my sheolred commander deck but it struggles pretty hard against enchantment decks. If i drop her too soon before i can equip hexproof, boom, she gets turned into a fish or turtle or something with no abilities. Most of my good cards rely on sheolred's ability... and even if i equip some cool artifact, then the artifact gets targeted... but props to my buddy for making an infuriating enchament deck.

Only thing that I personally would add, is Liliana of the Dark Realms.
I would make room for Teferi's Puzzle Box. That card is busted.
I like to introduce my Sheoldred deck by saying, "Do you like drawing cards? Me too! Now, have you ever lost 24 life during your draw step? If Teferi's Puzzle Box comes into play, you might."
Sad don't have one yet I want build a deck so many ppl draw alot in the game this nasty tax for drawing love it don't care she omga evil but so easy to build for it
Mikokoro, heart of the sea is another nice land to make everyone draw a card

My buddy has a commander that makes you discard all cards of a chosen color from your hand. Wouldn’t Lich’s Mastery cripple you in that case?
This commander has a fundamental flaw. Encouraging your opponents to draw more cards increases the odds of them getting removal. If your commander isn't on the field, all these opponent draw effects hurt you so much.
... it's nice that WotC once again made a card that some Standard and Pioneer decks need gets swallowed by EHD.
I can't see how this strategy will pay off for WotC. For EHD players don't usually buy the cards how Wizards primarily sells cards. With EHD as their premiere format WotC surely needs to adapt their product strategy in order to float.

Yah I built this deck when I pulled the phyrexian one and even in cedh my friends hate it.
Also peer into the abyss and sanguine bond kills everyone else at the table 9/10 times. I also run a big reanimated package for things like seizan and garry to burn for massive amounts of damage. Teferries puzzlebox is also Ana amazing card to deal a ton of damage to each opponent on their turn.

These are all absolutely fantastic with Sheoldred. Peer Into the Abyss immediately kills one player or causes you draw half your library, gaining life for each.
Villis + Doom Whisperer allows you to draw your entire library two cards at a time so you can dig as deep as you want for your wincon.
Phyrexian Arena lets you draw an additional card each turn at the cost of 1 life. This, of course, is negated by Sheoldred's life gain.
Font and Mythos and Howling Mine both cause all players to draw extra cards on their draw step. With both of them on the field each player will be drawing a total of four cards on their draw step.
Well of Lost Dreams gets an honorable mention. It can allow you gain an absurd amount of life each turn.
i agree... i run all those and more in my version. teferies puzzle box in absolutely nuts w this deck. if you want a salt inducing combo and in mindcrank. as well as seizon the perverter of truth... i have had some pods scoop and go to game 2 because of these....lol
I want to build this commander. But my play group straight up told me that if I do, they will all save and focus all removal spells for the moment I try to put Sheoldred on the table. Like, nothing else on the table matters. I will never be allowed to resolve Sheoldred. They believe this commander is far too powerful and degenerate to be allowed at our shop.
That said, I know they aren't a dollar or less, but "Peer into the Abyss" and "Teferi's Puzzle Box" are MVP cards in this deck.
I'm not exactly fond of giving the opponent's a couple card draws here and there unless it's resulting in them losing. Many decks are fine with trading half their life for card advantage. A few pings here and there are not worth giving them that advantage. However, a repeatable massive burn from Teferi's Puzzle Box or something like that is a different story.

I will just say that this is a commander choice that may cost you friends. It is absolutely not fun to play against, and worse against the players with money to invest into it. You need to have enough life gain to outpace it, removal to get rid of it consistently, or both. If you see someone in your group playing this commander, use one of your stronger decks.

The trick is to cast it when theres one of the "when you draw a card, enemy loses life" things on the battlefield. Either it gets interrupted or you win.
