@@musiclaboratory9694 I don't think that's why he said it. I think he said it to point out that it's a consistent truth among all races about other races. He prefaced it by stating they got him confused because they think all white people look the same. That's OK because he thinks everyone looks the same if they aren't white.
It's something noted in psychological called cross-race effect, and it is one of the most replicable studies in psychology among every race. It has little to do with racism and a lot to do with exposure. How exposed to other races are you? Different races have different general physical characteristics. Without much exposure to said race it can become embarrassingly difficult to distinguish between faces. For example, I'm around whites, blacks and Hispanics frequently, and I have no trouble distinguishing between individuals among each. I am not often exposed to middle eastern or Asian, and it is with them that I have trouble discerning between faces.
In the same way it is difficult for to to recognize specific chimpanzees or birds between one another, but they can. Same thing.

@@johndavis3894 I can agree to a point I may be unique in this way but I have had exposure to people from all walks of life and many different ethnicities and I just don't agree that all people look alike when you Rly look at them like ok yes Asian people have slanted eyes and are most often short and pale right but the way they walk and talk and act are all very distinct to the individual if you only glance at a person and don't actually pay attention to what they look like in detail then they may look the same but that's you not going deep enough or making the effort to remember that person as an individual

After a lot of thought, I've come to an opinion that is often deemed controversial.
White privilege doesn't exist in the way that it's often said to, and I don't mean this in the way most people do, so hear me out.
I am not saying that people of color arent systematically treated worse, because they are. My thoughts are that it doesn't make me priveleged though.
We use the term white privelege to deflect, to make people angry at the white race as a whole, to make people view all of us through a skewed perception. To stir division, misdirect blame, and divert responsibility away from racists for their own actions.
If someone treats POC poorly because of their skin, that just makes them racist. It does not make me priveleged. Being treated decently or with fairness is not a privilege. It is a basic fucking human right.
For example: If I apply for a job in the same position as a black woman, with the same exact qualifications, but I'm hired because I'm white, that doesnt make me privileged. That just makes the person in HR a racist piece of shit.
Or if a cop that gives me a warning for a traffic infraction later pulls over a Hispanic man and violently arrests him for the same infraction, it means that cop is racist, and is reflective of only that fact. I wasnt privileged for not being harassed or assaulted.
No one should be treated that way without valid reason, and if they are because of their color, that doesn't mean I got special treatment. It means I got normal treatment and the other guy received subpar treatment.
I have yet to see privilege in my life. I have been poor for all of my existence, and being white didnt help me stay away from drugs, or stay in school. It didnt keep me out of trouble or get me a car at sixteen, cuz my parents couldn't afford that shit. It didnt gurantee me smooth sailing into the future, as I literally have no clue where I stand in my own life while I write this. It didn't lead me to college or a good job, because I was a straight A student who fell in the gutter. It didnt gurantee mental health, because I struggle every day just to get out of bed. Being white doesn't help me be certain that I'll still have food in a couple days. My white daughter is just as likely to spend a few nights in candlelight because we missed the deadline for the power bill as the black kids back in the hood my parents raised me in. If I have an encounter with the cops, there's no gurantee of safety if that cop has had a bad day or gets angry, and I knew that when I watched my mom being grabbed by her throat by the cop who had just arrested me for a crime I didnt commit. I don't wake up everyday and recognize privelege. I see roaches in my kitchen no matter how hard I clean, bills with red numbers on them piling up, bald tires on my half-running car that leaks every time in rains. The racism in this country hasnt offered me aid. It has not made things easier or more convenient for me, which would make me privileged. I wake up to daily battles, as many people do.
Receiving fair treatment doesn't = privilege
BUT unfair treatment can = racism/sexism/homophobia etc.
Privilege would be if white people were never arrested, never fired, never poor, never looked down upon by anyone. Ive fought all those battles.
So I'm NOT saying that there arent instances in which white people are treated better simply because they are white. I'm just saying that someone else being a victim of racism doesn't make me privileged because being treated decently should never be viewed as a "privilege."
What our country is rampant with is "wealthy privilege," and the wealthy are the ones pushing racial propaganda and furthering the divide. The people on the bottom cannot overthrow the people on top if they are too busy fighting amongst themselves for table scraps. I'm not an enemy to anyone who hasn't personally given me a reason to be, and I damn sure wasnt born with a head start in life. I cant even catch up to my racing thoughts, lol.
