Dude watching reaction videos like yours today is making me feel so much more comfortable in my skin (figuratively, not literally). I'm white and I acknowledge that with that comes unjust privilege and in relative terms I know I've not had an 'easy' life. I have had a good life but I made it good, I have lost so much and experienced so much pain that is relative to the 'human' experience regardless of the colour of our skin and I love people regardless of the colour of theirs and I always take a person's individual experience seriously. I was raised to treat people the way I’d want to be treated and character values and how someone acts matter more than how a person looks. I try my best to make sure that my son views and treats people this way as well. It is very hard when the general message from outside home is that black and brown is oppressed and white is bad. Seems regressive, but what do I know I’m just a white girl.

Dude watching reaction videos like yours today is making me feel so much more comfortable in my skin (figuratively, not literally). I'm white and I acknowledge that with that comes unjust privilege and in relative terms I know I've not had an 'easy' life. I have had a good life but I made it good, I have lost so much and experienced so much pain that is relative to the 'human' experience regardless of the colour of our skin and I love people regardless of the colour of theirs and I always take a person's individual experience seriously. Honestly, this track really nails the experience of those of us with white skin who feel this way but are too afraid (to sometimes even admit we're afraid) to speak about our perspective because it can be assumed we are comparing ourselves to the suffering of others when it's something completely independent of that.
