The items in your thumbnail are EXACTLY what I bought when I got my first dirtbike last year. Bought a helmet, boots, gloves, box stand, gas can, loading ramp, ratchet straps, tools, and fluids (engine oil, air filter oil, chain cleaner & lube) and those are only the essentials!!! Riding is not a cheap sport at all 😂 but it sure is damn fun
My wife gave me the green light to get my very first dirt bike last summer. Spent around $4,300 for the bike. A week later, the grand total was around $6,000 with all the gear, tools and equipment lol she was super graceful about it all though.
Knee sleeves or long socks are a must. They make any knee protection feel so much better, and keep your knee protection more fresh. One recent addition that I made was a cordless, lithium ion high capacity fan. The breeze is not always blowing, and you need to move some air to cool off. Love my new fan.
I just bought my first bike and all these videos are super helpful, my bike is a 2007 Yamaha wr 450f, probably a little much for a beginner but I am getting the hang of it
Took a long time off the dirt after my old kdx 200. Just got a 2008 ktm xcf w450 and loving it so far. Just have to respect the power and ease into it.
Ive ridden a quad for 1 year, this is the second year but its just sitting in the garage, for sale, and ive crashed only once, no equipment, just a helmet, i regret not buying other parts of equipment, now i ride a dirtbike with full equipment, and without problems, definitely reccomending full equiment if you dont want your arms, torso and legs mummified
I found diluted Simple Green to be the best also. Do NOT use Super Clean or any other type of heavy duty degreaser. It will permanently damage/stain the aluminum and other parts on the bike.
Dont mean to brag but ever since I bought my bike 2 weeks ago, I bought every single one of these things 😂 I’m kind of proud of myself right now. I was just going based off things that I’ve seen and knew I needed especially for maintenance purposes.
I’ve been so busy lately I haven’t even kept up with the MXF Vids 😔 Bike still isn’t back together yet, but, I did score a sweet job at my local Powersports Store....I love working around MX & ATV stuff all day 🤘🏻✌🏻 Great video as usual fella’s, if I might add another “Bonus Tip”.....if you’re buying your bike used, find and purchase the Official Repair Manual for your specific bike 👍🏻 Learning how to turn wrenches on your own machine will save you literally THOUSANDS of dollars in shop fees for the years you own your machine!
If you are watching this done get chain lube, I’ve had all sorts of brands of lube and nothing works better than WD40. It drives out the moisture and stops the chain from rusting whilst keeping it slick and smooth. But lube attracts the dirt and holds it onto the chain.
I’m looking at getting a yz125x as my first bike, I’m 25 and around 170 pounds. Been riding bmx/MTB my whole life and now can afford bigger things, I’ve ridding one before and was able to get it for my first time ever being on a bike. I hope it’s a good first bike
Applies to two stroke beginners, get a ratio right cup, no guessing just measure it and mix it...when I first started riding I was so confused about the whole gas to oil ratio mixing
This is helpful, I just thought you put regular unleaded gas in 😂. Looking to purchase my first bike and gear in a year or so. Trynna get lotta info now so I can be ready to go
Build a bike stand out of a pallet for free, use a jerry can not a gas can, use wd40 for chain lube (if you have an o ring chain) you don’t need bike cleaner you can just use a pressure washer. Save your money for good gear and parts to keep your biking running.
I admit it's a lot more stuff than I thought about considering buying a first bike. But it's possible.. just gotta take my time buy one or a couple things at a time if you're on a budget.
I’ve been riding motorcycles for 3 years always wanted to ride dirtbikes though and have been saving up for a used one but seeing this reminds me how much stuff you need to just get started 🤣 all this on top of separate mx gear because all my gear is for street riding

GEAR. you’re gonna crash. It’s part of dirt scootering. Kickstands are amazing. You won’t always have a stand. A stand for maintenance. Milk crates work. 2 gallon can fills up a empty YZ250 PERFECTLY. Spare tubes or go with Tubliss Bar guards. You’re gonna crash. You’re gonna mess up levers. Spare levers too. As for gear, PLEASE PLEASE wear boots. Helmets and boots at a minimum. Elbow and knee guards are good. Neck brace is a bonus. Basically, expect to crash. Expect to fall. Expect to drop the bike. It’s ok. It happens.

hey man i have a question how much is a good helmet like whats a good price point of a good helmet. is 200 aud too cheap for a helmet or too expensive lmk plz (:
I got my first bike this summer. It is a 2001 yamaha yz80. I want to get into racing next summer, but i dont know if i should get a new bike or not. The radiator is dead, the engine often loses power, the plastic (and some of the metals) looks like sheisa and the shift lever is stiff. I like my bike but i dont want the radiator to blow out on the first lap, and have my wheel fall off on the second.
Why VP race gas it’s over priced premium gas from the pump will do the trick, I’m not too sure about oil since I have a 450 but I think I’m going to buy a 2021 yz250 two smoker and I’ll have to look into that oil bc I love the smell and the better smelling the oil the better the bike
@@kaic9712 It's 105 octane with 0 ethanol and 40:1 mix with premium synthetic VP oil that burns super clean in your 2 stroke. This was actually a joke, to some extent though, because if you grew up like I did watching 2 stroke motocross than you know the smell of race gas is amazing. When my bike was at TJ's they were starting it up and people were coming to the work area from the showroom to smell the sweet richness. As long as you are getting ethanol free gas and mixing with premium synthetic oil, then you are fine.

Does anyone have any suggestions for a bike stand which will mostly be used to prop the bikes up for cleaning (so it will need to expose both sides and allow the wheels to spin) but is easier to get the bike onto? I’m female and struggle to lift even a 110 onto them.

Can't afford a bike stand right now using a bucket
Make sure those straps have the safety clips on the hooks so they don’t bounce off when you hit a bump. Don’t ask how I know.
I don't like to use chain lube it just guns your chain up I like to use wd-40
Another thing id recommended is hand levers i lost count on how many sets o have gone through
What if my foot is really big and I can’t fit any riding boots or regular boots
And always check your air pressure on both tires before and after you ride the motocross bike.
