- BMW 335XI remote car starter install. We will install a idatastart remote car starter. This will clone the key of the BMW 335xi and use it to bypass the immobilizer. We will also be using the DRONE to allow LTE access to the vehicle. This will allow us access to the DTC codes and other CANBUS available statistics.

I’m not sure what you need. Just go to the compustart website and read the instructions. Some parts you may need to have a engineering degree to bridge the missing parts. I’m showing you what I had to do to make it work:) my background is in software development and my degree is in computer science. Reprogramming the modules in the car also pretty tech heavy to enable software features the car itself has. I don’t think they have a link where they show every step including what could go wrong.
Alright so I’ve had the starter for 8 months now it does work. When you click the lock button three times you have to wait to see the parking lights flash twice along with the chime and you will see your day time running come on and hear it start up but it takes a while through the whole process till your engine is running id say it takes roughly 10 seconds lol I wish I could figure out how to make the time way shorter and I also know how it works it basically simulates a person being in there starting it up. Along with all this I’ve had a few time where my key fob stops working after doing it and I put it in the ignition quickly and take it out and it works fine. Hopefully this helps anyone that owns a BMW X5 2007
I found the same things. It actually mimicking a copy of the key. I noticed my heating settings/profile sometimes is neither of the two comfort access keys. I think it saved a default memory when the key was cloned. I also found that sometimes I have to put the key in to sync it or it doesn’t work. The security bypass may not be 100% perfect. I also agree it takes a long time from start command to starting from light flash to engine running. I use the cellular connection and its slightly faster than the three presses. The original remote has a very short distance in terms of reach. I thought it’s was slow to send/broadcast, then for the unit to read there was three presses and then start the engine start sequence.
@@wallyho-garage I may go with the cellular option because I’ve noticed my fob may be faulty with range after replacing the battery and I still have to be at least 10 feet from my car to start but I may do more research in other products that may be faster but if this is the fastest aftermarket so far then that’s sad cause it’s 2022 and technology has advanced already especially when the company programmed them they could have least made the time shorter Because honestly I can start my car way faster physically than the remote start.
How can I get the app for program the module
Hi Wally I installed the Drone mobile on my X5 along with the remote start but I can’t get the commands to work, I called Compustar to get help with the Drone but they said my module is in hardwire mode and that they only help authorized dealers. Do you know how I can get the Drone module to execute commands given through the app? Any help would be greatly appreciated since dealers around me charge $140~/hr labor.

Hi Wally, very helpful video 3 years later it still helps a bunch. One question hope you can help my module isn’t flashing green do you have any idea how to troubleshoot this? Any insight is greatly appreciated thanks
can you link a video or more information. The module could be put into the right mode by following the directions. Just start again from the top if its not quite working.

The only question I have is what is it compatible to as an E46 series I own a 2004 XI 325 well you know the rest but other than that is it compatible to this vehicle
I thnk they make a version for that car. I'm not sure. I looked for an E90 version as its connections had to fit the tap into the CAS etc etc..

Hi at 5:01 there is a 4 pin cable plugged into the side of the expansion module. Later in your video this isn't connected. Is that cable required or no?
It’s not needed. The module is connected below.

Awesome! Yeah it’s not difficult but a bit tedious sometimes. :) ping if you need advice. It’s an awesome upgrade to the car. The canbus integration means your trunk and locks are all remote along with remote start :) it’s awesome.
@@wallyho-garage Unfortunately it didn't work as that cable is required for me. Is there anyway I can contact you about purchasing it off you? Tech support is telling me to buy an entire new T harness kit and will not provide that cable to me.
Your unit as well as another youtuber has the two red ports which do not need the connector. Whereas I have one red connection and need the jumper from the expansion module to the module.

I'm having trouble with mine.. Its unlocking it but not turning it on or starting it. Not sure what I'm doing wrong
You have to ensure you read one of the 10 codes stored in the CAS. The device is essentially cloning one of the keys. Tell me more on how it isn’t starting. I think it’s using the CAN bus signals for the locks. The starting needs to doable the bmw immobilizer.
@@wallyho-garage Ahh I see, that makes a bit more sense. I think the main problem I've been facing is it learning the key. Unfortunately for me I kept trying to reflash it (it wasnt flashing yet the computer said it was).
Now the software has me locked saying I've met the maximum amount of Klones for this device, I'll get in contact with support tommorow to see if they can lift that.

The website only allow to clone with internet explorer browser. I have a Mac book what you would suggestion I do

you never showed the take over process, does the car stay started when you open the door to get in?
Yes it does. The CAN bus is tapped with the t wires. So it knows if the door is open. Opening the door as part of the algorithm does not turn off the car. Stepping on the brake does however.
@@wallyho-garage well then this seems pretty pointless, i wish they made a system where i can remote start the car, jump in and just drive off instead of having to start it again
@@Entertainmentinc1 that’s what it does. But on my car I have wireless comfort access so stepping in I can drive off. If you don’t, you have to put the key in the slot or it will shut off. It doesn’t bypass that bmw security. I’d suggest get comfort access wireless added. It will then do what you asked. That part is bmw vs compustart :)

I’m having a little trouble programming the key. The light only seems to flash red and I followed all the steps.
Programming the klone? Or just the reading of the key from the bmw cas?

hello Help, the drone has a signal and internally receives commands from the mobile drone application but it does not turn on, in that step it did not advance, please help if anyone else has experienced this or is stuck in this process, please
Can you explain further? The drone literally sends a trigger signal to the starter box to start it. if the drone is working, the signal will come down the wire you have to the start unit.

I’m stuck at the 16:25. It is beeping and red blinking. But no Green.
It shows key 🔑 on display.
Have you been able to figure this out? Mine is also blinking red.
Tell me more, It unclear to me what going on. If it's not flashing the colors as I videoed you may have a bad connection somewhere
Does the programming cable come with the kit?
It’s extra. It’s about 50 if I recall.
Can remote start be installed on 2018 bmw x5m?

Possible. The kit speaks to the cars it supports. Basically if the CAS module is the same it should work. Check the idatastart site.
Would this work on a 2013 328i sedan?
If the cas is the same probably. The module dumps a firmware from the company after you upload your specs. The unit said it covered that year if I recall it said 2005 -2016

I think the system has a lockout wire I didn’t need to use . Check with the maker of this starter.
