@Kgethego. You’re right... she’s a champ. A class act. This cabinet was modernized and the vision of how to transform it from 70s [not that that is ‘bad’] to a sleeker look was cool . We also like how she’s grateful about the pieces she acquires. She seems to respect the histories and cultural significance of the objects. Really like that vibe
I watched this video a year later. I just started my adventure of painting furniture and makeovers. I've been watching a gazillion videos and find you so inspiring.
Ok, as gorgeous as those two side tables turned out, I gotta say my heart ‘bout STOPPED when I saw those original BEAUTIES. My parents had those two lovelies on each side of their bed. Purchased brand new in 1969. They’re STILL in the family, original and still look new. So thank you for that sweet trip down memory lane ♥️‼️
I gotta say these loom fantastic. A solid black and removing the pulls off was genius. Great job!!! I hope your channel really takes off. So many people overlook shellac and buy unnecessary products within a line of paints. Shellac is awesome to seal raw wood and raises the hairs and dries really fast. . Then just lightly sand off. The old time inexpensive products work as well or better for less. Money saved is money earned 😉. Best of luck to you.
I personally would stand them apart with a marble slab top joining them with a vase of something something beneath and a mirror. Like a low slung credenza. They look marvelous! Great job!.
Beautiful. It would look even better painted inside. Love it my sister has a few items like this , I will definitely share this page with her.. thanks for ur channel I will keep watching and learning. Gbu
I love that you explain why you're doing certain steps! Makes it nice and easy to follow for someone like me who doesn't know anything about the stuff you're doing. I love your content, your thrift flips actually make the end result look good enough to buy from a store!!
OMG! I didn't even notice. I'll have to go take a look. You'd think I would have seen it while I was working on them or at the very least during the 2 hours of editing. Probably better that I didn't know it was there. I would have had to burn down the garage!
Hahahaha I saw it too and was like, oh girl you're good, because I would have destroyed and burned everything in sight lol. But thank God you didn't because we would not have witness the beautiful outcome of these end tables. Great Job!
Completely unrelated to this gorgeous flip: I love that you’re open to criticism and willing to take a thumbs down and a comment for it! Good on you for that!!!
I've NEVER heard a UA-camr do that before. That's such a beautiful perspective that I never would've thought. Thumbs down doesn't always mean someone is a hater. Sometimes, it means "work on the content". That's so good. Very impressed and looking forward to binge-watching your content :)
Turned out great! I like that you went back in and painted the edges of the doors. That made a big difference in how it all looked when the doors were opened. Great video.
Oh, and thank you for the shellac tip. I have always been disappointed with how areas look with large filled nail holes when painted over. Your solution sounds/looks like a winner!
For me, IKEA means never having to settle for their blond pine. I sanded and stained the wood pieces, and painted the visible chrome screws. 'Worth it.
These were great! So many helpful painting tips too! Great work on modernizing these clunky old end tables. The genuinely look like something I'd put in my home now!
My dad who does wood work and loves antique furniture is cringing and face-palming so hard while watching this. I understand why he is, but let me say they still look beautiful.
Wow those look fantastic. A true talent you are. You make it look so easy. I painted my jewelry armoire yesterday and learned a few lessons. You inspire us all.....keep after it....we will support you!!
I think these have plenty of detail with out the chunky original pulls but I always hang on to old hardware so maybe you'll see them get used on another project. Thanks for watching!
Totally agree. Without the hardware, these look basic. Especially with this dull color. Hardware would’ve added interest. Without the hardware, it’s like wearing a plain outfit with no jewelry (even simple jewelry) to elevate the look and pull it together. Otherwise, it looks unfinished and unstyled, not polished.
wahoo4uva - I understand your point, but I couldn’t disagree with you more. Understated and classic is much better than trendy and shiny. There’s so much detail in the corner pieces that I think any shiny hardware or a flashy color would cheapen the look.
Have you tried goodwill. But I guess that’s depends on the goodwills in your area. Sometimes the ones are cheap and sometimes they are expensive. It’s hit or miss.
These cabinets are beautiful!!! They look chic and brand new. The paint looks more of a greenish matte black on my computer screen. I don't give out compliments lightly. You are very talented and do such top-notch work!
I'm the 2nd view! Woohoo! I really like seeing these process videos and how you problem-solve when things don't go as planned. The tables turned out so great :-)
So beautiful!! I’m too lazy to tape things off so I would have painted them before attaching the legs. But I guess then you would have had to be super careful not to damage them in the process, so your way was probably best after all. I just talked myself out of my own opinion. Lol
WOW. Looks much better. Still like the architecture of the pieces but in satin black they look so much better!! And the lack of handles is a great choice! Feet add that modern touch. Your creativity is very enjoyable. Thanks for sharing!
I love the look but still feel like they could still use some jewelry on the doors. Not necessary a knob or handle since you added those cool latches, but something shiny for a bit of interest to the otherwise smooth and super-cool finish on them (sprayer was THE WAY to go for all those nooks and crannies!). Maybe a small mirrored or silver ornament of some kind....hmmmm. Something super modern? Either way, they look amazing. Nice work!
I absolutely love these. I found a pairnof tables similar for $20 on offer up. I saved a pic of ur tables as inspiration. I love the legs u put on these it really changed rhe look of these tables. They are so lovely
I have watched this video many times because I really love how u transformed these tables. I found a similar pair on offer up and im gonna try this...with this legs ect. They look awesome katie🥰

Hi Katie! Love love your work! New subscriber.
Where did you buy the legs for this piece?
Do you have experience doing body work?
What is the color and brand please?
I’ve never encountered anyone who asks people to give a thumbs down and comment on what may be improved. What a champ.

@@cUser691 I think it is so fantastic what she is doing. Saving furniture from the curbside, items that otherwise would have been landfill.

@Treva Butler. Agree with you...her transparency is refreshing . It’s cool to witness these furniture renovations. Greetings from Chicago
PROBABLY THE BEST DESIGN IVE SEEN SO FAR. SIMPLISTIC YET ELEGANT.

Talk about gorgeous. Omg. The black color the added feet. These are stunning. Undeniably stunning. Once again. OMG
Lol, I'll take it! Thanks for watching.
I never would have thought of combining these legs withs these pieces, you have such a good eye!
Thank you so much!
I Hate the legs but I love the look 💙
You are a magician ! And a savior of unwanted furniture! And a savior of unwanted furniture!!
Thankyou for explaining each process and when things dont go to plan. They look very elegant. (from Manchester, England) Xx
Thanks so much! 😊
I just love these so much. Any color would look amazing and the whole push mechanism on the door with no handles is ingenious! Love it!
Wow,I've been wondering what to do with my parents old 70's end tables!! Amazing job!! Thanks for the inspiration!!💙💙
This is one of the best I've seen. Clever and so cool. I never like painting stuff black or really dark , but this was genius. GENIUS, I tell ya.
OMG, do you know how many thousands of people want to be artistic like you, thank you for sharing. Simply amazing!!!

The flip turned out beautifully! I love the sleek look without the hardware.
I agree. I'm glad that I didn't try to add any hardware. Thank for watching!

Come over to Australia . We have spiders, some as big as a small dinner plate. Don’t worry, I’ll supply a defibrillator for you. 😉

One of the best restored pieces I have seen on UA-cam. The paint job is beautiful.
I see those hideous tables at the thrift all the time. I never thought they could look so nice!
...hideous?
Love that color (?). Your simplicity and honesty is noted by many, you are love.
Oh thank you!
That was awesome, I love the transformation and you explained everything so well.

These came out gorgeous, almost like a matte black, getting inspiration for my IKEA boring plain white dresser
Almost? It was literally matte black used
For me, IKEA means never having to settle for their blond pine. I sanded and stained the wood pieces, and painted the visible chrome screws. 'Worth it.
I have learned so much from you. You are a true artist. I love what you can turn things into. These are absolutely incredible!

WOW!!..Just WOW!.. They turned out crazy beautiful!.. I'm now a new sub.. Seriously, Awesome job!
Awe, thanks so much! Welcome.
What a great idea! I love that you left the inside original. The contrast looks very nice.
I absolutely love this episode, sad to say the artist in me cringed a little when the beautiful wood finish was painted over, but it works.
It’s not such a beautiful wood finish. It looks ordinary; the finish is just akin to finishes common in the 1970s.
Wow! Simple changes made a huge difference. These look very high end!
Love the original hardware it’s so cool I would have loved to seen them sprayed and still used but they turned out awesome
