    contodocoffee....
This was one of our more ambitious adventures that we have ever had in Mexico. Renting a car for the first time in Mexico and attempting to run 100km (62 miles) through the mountains of Mexico.
It didn't go the way I wanted it to. It stings to fail, to have quit, and to then upload that experience for the world to see. But in failures we have the opportunity to learn and grow and that is exactly what I plan on doing from this experience.

You are a WINNER Greg 😊This was a very difficult trail. I am a runner as well. Running in Mexico even in flat terrain is so hard on it’s own. Imagine such a challenging trajectory such as the one you had! Like I said, you are definitely a winner. I can’t wait to hear your life update. I have been thinking about you and Hillary a lot. Hillary looks happy and healthy. We are so blessed to be part of this.❤

What a great video, Greg!! You made a humbling, mature and wise decision to turn around. GOOD GOING, Ace!! I don't think there was a smidge of failure in your race. You succeeded in my book because you spent allllll that time training, and you had the courage and grit to start and tackle a good portion of the race. You finished with everything in tact - your mind, your body, and your spirit. God knows what could have happened if you hadn't stopped at the point you did. I like to think there are no mistakes in life, just opportunities for growth and learning. How sweet to have Hillary be there for you too. You guys are going to be awesome parents!

Hillary -- you look beautiful! Really, your face, skin, glowing. Greg, altitudes are tough, Man! I went from living at sea level to living at 7,000 and there was an very real adjustment (sickness, headache, nosebleeds) period. No question you made the right decision, that baby needs his/her Dad. And the 'Hillary driving in Mexico Lesson' was funny and true :)
All the best to you and yours 🌿💚 🌿

"Today's win," think of that every day JHC...that wasn't failure, it was another huge lesson. Just as you both continue to learn about life as we all do

No shame in dropping out Goyo :) When you feel it you feel it. I recall when I was Infantry in the Army we did like 3 times a year a 25 mile road march (with my weapon, 60lb ruck pack and with combat boots) and it sucked, wanted to quit but I just couldn't. I think it was definitely your training that was not adequate for this type of race. Good luck on your next race :)

It's good that you listened to your body. One day I was on a bicep machine with plates and I was thinking "no pain, no gain" Next thing I ripped several bicep tendons, they felt like rubber bands snapping. I didn't listen to my body. Since then (2009) my bicep has looked weird (but my forearm took over and it's huge since then)

For the next time come and train in Tepoztlán, Morelos. When my husband was younger (like your age… many moons ago), he and his cuñado would run up and back down the Tepozteco at least a few times a week. Great fitness plan! I think you guys climbed that once. 2.1 miles trail with 1200 ft elevation gain. Altitude at the top is a bit over 2000 meters. And I’ll bake some fresh homemade bread for Hilary! 😊

As a runner, I totally understand the ego part of it, but there will be plenty more races in your future i’m sure. Next time you’ll take this DNF and crush it. 💪🏼 Congrats on all the training & marathon completion though 🎉🥳🏅

Dude!! Don’t be to hard on yourself. It was arrogance, just inexperience with a run like. UOU and Hilary always do your homework, you always do your training. That was a BRUTAL course at an elevation you are not used to and add excessive high heat and I am SO glad you heeded the warning signals of your body and you turned around. To ignore them and continue and possibly become very or dangerously sick? THAT would have been arrogance. Keep approaching life the way you do cause you’re doing it right.
Excitedly waiting to hear how Hilary is doing and how you are both imagining the future as a family. Thanks for being the people you are and for sharing your adventures and experiences. Because I’m great part to the two of you, we finally made our move and live in La Paz. The only gringos on our street and are making friends with our wonderful Mexican neighbors. Vive Mexico! 🇲🇽🌮☀️🌴🌊
