Fantastic job and a very thorough video. Saved me $500+. Dealer quoted $800. Bought the part online for $260-ish. After watching your video the actual replacement took me less time than watching the video.
Thank you for the video. We found out after having to change our grille shutter that a bird actually caused our problem. It was in three parts, amidst all of the assortment of dead bugs. It is so nice to have the check engine light off and be able to start the truck remotely. 👏🏼
Thanks for taking the time to make this video...just replaced mine on a 2018....it took 41 minutes......several of which were spent trying to figure out how to unplug the electrical connections once they were unlocked. Saved me garage fees for sure. Many thanks!
My check engine light is on and said the sensor is blocked. So I'm going to see if there is blockage. But I was wondering if they sell only the sensor instead of the entire assembly. Great video btw
A couple of questions for you.... Did you get the P059f problem code for the shutter assembly not working? Where did you get your replacement shutter assembly? Did you get genuine GM part or a 3rd party OEM part? Any problems since replacing the part?
I'm guessing I did get that code, I just took my truck to a repair place and they told me it was the shutter assembly. I went online and searched for the part I don't remember finding a lot of options but I believe it was a third party. I have not had any problems with it since I installed the new part. Thanks for your questions
Sorry for the late reply been busy getting ready for an interstate move with my family. Just remove the battery cables to both batteries for 10 minutes. Please subscribe to my channel & tell your friends. Thank you
So my Silverado is throwing up a U1501 and U1510 code for the active grill shudder assembly. I found a dead bird insider the grill and I’m assuming that’s what caused the issue. I noticed the shutters remain open when the truck is parked so I manually closed the shutters and started the truck and they opened up on their own but I don’t know if they are actively opening and closing while driving. Could the shutter assembly still be bad even tho it opened on its own??
@@brucemackenthundoesitallll4296 i disconnected the battery for 30 mins (only the ground cable) and it seemed to temporarily go away and then came back the second time starting the truck.
@@codybetts1 did you end up resolving the issue? I’m currently having the same issue with my truck. I manual close it, and it opens by itself. But doesn’t close and I’m not sure if the actuator is bad or not.
Idk if it’s coincidence but I changed my cold air intake filter and had the shutter code pop up about a month later. Dealership wants $1300 to replace the damper 😂

Idk where he bought it but the Standard Products part number is AGS1022. I work at a parts store and couldn’t get it as cheap as I can get it at O’Reilly with my military discount. Idk what brand his is or where he got it from tho.
After you take the shutter off and replace it with a new one. Will the engine light turn off? The dealership is charging me almost 1000$ parts and labour
Thank you! Dealer quoted me over $1100.00 to replace this. Got the part online and shipped for $200.00. Took me less than an hour to get it done!.

I'm getting a U1510 code.
I’m getting the same code U1510 Lin bus code any ideas on if it’s the same part
I’m having the same code now. Any idea if this was the for sure fix??
What is the rubber gasket that fits between the grill and the radiator shutter system called?
0:16 the PCM, a/c control head, a virtual module, or something else?
Those vents in front of the radiator chould those open and close?
Hey so am getting a reading saying repair active shutter assembly wiring will these fix it?
Great video, the dealership told me that mine is the “ active grille shudder actuator”, did this replace the actuator?
Yes
Hey. How did you clear the code after you installed the new shutter assembly?

Been looking for a video like this for awhile👍, you think i can remove the shutters completely with no problems?
You can pull them out completely.
Once you have the grill off, it doesn't take long to take off the shutter assembly.
It was actually pretty easy. Saved a lot of money not having to go to a mechanic.

No, just the grill. Thanks for watching
What was the part number?
I don't have the part number. Just type in the part name and the year online. It should come up.

From what I have read they just go out. I doubt it was related.
U have a link for the shutter valve?
