  • @DaveMc13

    After removing the motor from the regulator, you said the motor will spin infinitely (reference: approximately 2:30 in the video). Please double check. I suspect the limit switch is still active and would still stop the motor after a few rotations. I briefly searched the existing 279 comments for similar question without success. GREAT JOB on this video!!! This is the first time I've found the answer to this question I've been wondering for years. I wish there was a way to REALLY LIKE a video.

    Amazing video! Came up on my feed this evening after spending three days working on my 2002 toyota 4runner driver door window motor and lifter. It was like OMG! I took the motor all apart cause the armature bearing surface at the tip was rusted. Cleaned and lubed everything and got it running again. Having to air freight a good used one from the US to me in Costa Rica jungle. Toyota stopped selling a lot of parts for gen3 4runners, sad. You went a bit deeper in than I needed to get it up and running. Thanks from a very old retired MB auto tech. Cheers!

    Great video! I do have one question however. At 7:08 you mention the fact that if something gets pinched as the window moves up, the metal drive plate will begin to press on the damper before the limit switch and encoder kick in to stop the windows movement. I'm wondering how exactly the limit switch and encoder know when an obstacle has been contacted? Is it that the encoder is expecting a particular rotational speed and therefore is "triggered" if something resists the windows movement (therefore slowing it's speed)? If that's the case, if an object is simply resting on the window and therefore doesn't exert a significant force on the window until it has been pinched by the window and door frame, is the force that the window would exert on an obstacle pretty significant (i.e. it would hurt your finger if it was in the way) before it actually recognizes an acceptable speed change? Or is the force not too high because the torque output of the motor is relatively low? Hopefully my question makes at least a bit of sense and thanks again for the video!

    • @speedkar99
      @speedkar99  4 роки тому

      It has to have enough force to push the window up against the friction of it's tracks. It's programmed to recognize a significant force...yes sometimes that force can really pinch your finger.
      Try it next time you roll up the window on your car. At least it's better than the window continuing to squish you.
