    Nice work again, Lonnie. I have to laugh at some of the comments about the flies. I know that you can ignore them because they are just not that bad. They can be far worse, and flailing away at them only seems to attract more! Thanks for another informative video..

    I find leaving the bench plank with half-round base and v-notching support logs (to nest half-round profile) works pretty well with much less work. I appreciate seeing folks baton working with axes & tomahawks (personal staple for me). Like your vid's 👏👍

      We have a lot of flies, as soon as the weather gets warm. They just appear, seemingly for no reason. There is a lot of livestock in my region. My house on the south side will have literally a million, I would expect, hanging out and absorbing the solar. Then, as quick as they had appeared, they`re gone.

      The law of Northern lands: winters with snow and cold, summers with hot, mosquitos, flies, midges.
      Southern lands with flies and mosquitos all year long under the sun.
      It's simple, it's life in the wild.

    Enjoyed this video again, can't believe it's been five years since we made this bench! It's at the pond where it is so nice to sit and ponder life's little treasures.
    Side note about my health: I am losing lung capacity and am also a total body wreck, and found carnivore diet information that interested me. Have been on it for 4 weeks and feel a small increase in air capacity, even though I have detox symptoms. The video's I have been watching tell how plants are affecting our health with their protective poisons that are affecting us all. The disturbing part is, government has known this for decades!
    These are the main video's I am watching; Sally Norton, Anthony Chaffee or Shawn Baker for starters but UA-cam feeds many more providers of course. Very interesting how those crystals can affect every part of the body and are the cause of sickness in general. Hope you don't mind me adding this little tid bit as I know you suffer from lung issues also. I have been binge watching every video I find and also eating 95% carnivore and actually like it. Well, I'm off my soap box now:) Hope you are both doing well, blessings, TC.

      Very interesting. I was on the Keto diet for two years and noticed a big improvement in my lungs. What finally got me off of the last of my lung meds was when I fasted for two weeks and then several months later I fasted for a week. Nothing but water. I was then able to get totally off of all meds. I was able to accomplish myself what the doctors could not do for me. Our modern doctors do not know how to help us achieve health. They are not trained or educated for that. So they are pretty much as ignorant as the rest of the population in terms of true health. What they are trained to do is to treat symptoms. Treat the symptoms with synthetic drugs which in turn create their own symptoms. It is not a system designed to achieve health. It is a system designed to achieve wealth. It is pretty sad when I myself can achieve better health results than the most learned doctors in the land. To be honest, it was a natural health doctor that put me on the keto diet but it was my idea to fast. Glad you are seeing improvements. Keep on improving.

    • @tallcedars2310
      @tallcedars2310 Рік тому

      @@Far-North-Bushcraft-Survival That's wonderful Lonnie, you know the system is not for us and helped yourself to start the healing process🥰. It's the best thing we can do for ourselves really, that's why I'm trying. Am learning that plants protect themselves with poisons that are harming us and that meat does no harm to our bodies. It has all the essential minerals and vitamins we need apparently. I have lost weight, lung capacity has increased and my sinuses have cleared up, testament to the carnivore diet. Will keep going even tho I have little get up and go. Am enjoying not having cravings that have plagued me all my life and will definitely keep going.
      Best of health to you and yours Lonnie.

    One thing that you can do to smooth out the board is to take a flat stone and rub the board with it after you have used the ax. That will smooth it down nicely. You could also flatten the round logs on the bottom, that would reduce the rolling to almost nothing.

    Great practical use of the wedges, creating a board for a bench. I was wondering why not just v-notch the base logs until you demonstrated how the flat mating surfaces help keep them from rolling. Would you now consider a peg through the bench into the base log to make it more stable yet? Thanks for sharing Lonnie

    • @Far-North-Bushcraft-Survival

      pegging the bench top to the supports could easily be done. There is an advantage however to being able to throw the bench seat off and move the supports to a new location and then quickly replace the bench seat.
