@@FelixImmler thank YOU for spreading good information , and making entertaining and engaging content! Herr Felix, if i may ask, i already have a swiss champ which i use daily, but I'm planning to get a large SAK. Just for buschraft-outdoor-camping. But i can't decide which model. Forester (one handed knife version) or Ranger grip 78... Which is your large sak of choice?
You sir are one of thoes teachers one looks forward to going to school cause one is going to learn because is fun to learn from. I tip my hat to you my good SR.
Using a "Dutchman" to put them together is an old world woodworkers best way to attach two pieces of wood together in many and any configuration. Great job, tutorial and video Felix!!! Thank You So Much for showcasing this ancient joinery and I hope that folks pay attention to what still works after thousands of years reinventing the wheel. Well Done! Bravo~
I like how different are your videos compared to others. Until now almost every bushcraft video UA-cam algorythm randomly showed me were "guys chopping trees with their expensive knives without particular reason"-type videos. I love to see your creative ideas with these minimalist tools.
This video was a joy to watch! But I'm starting to think you "forgot" your axe on purpose so you could show off your SAK skills. lol Have a great weekend, my friend!
I am going to show this to one of our assistant scout masters who teaches the woodworking merit bade courses… he is always looking for new projects for that Merit badge… I think this would be a great one to do during one of our weekend camping trips!
@@matztertaler2777 these are the requirements to obtain the Woodwork Merit Badge in the Scouts, BSA Hope this helps you out!!! 1. Do the following: (a) Explain to your counselor the most likely hazards you may encounter while participating in woodwork activities, and what you should do to anticipate, help prevent, mitigate, and respond to these hazards. Explain what precautions you should take to safely use your tools. (b) Show that you know first aid for injuries that could occur while woodworking, including splinters, scratches, cuts, severe bleeding, and shock. Tell what precautions must be taken to help prevent loss of eyesight or hearing, and explain why and when it is necessary to use a dust mask. (c) Earn the Totin’ Chip recognition. 2. Do the following: (a) Describe how timber is grown, harvested, and milled. Tell how lumber is cured, seasoned, graded, and sized. (b) Collect and label blocks of six kinds of wood useful in woodworking. Describe the chief qualities of each. Give the best uses of each. 3. Do the following: (a) Show proper care, use, and storage of all working tools and equipment that you own or use at home or school. (b) Sharpen correctly the cutting edges of two different tools. 4. Use a saw, plane, plane, hammer, brace, and bit, make something useful of wood. Cut parts from lumber that you have squared and measured from working drawings. 5. Create your own woodworking project. Begin by making working drawings, list the materials you will need to complete your project, and then build your project. Keep track of the time you spend and the cost of the materials. 6. Do any TWO of the following: (a) Make working drawings of a project needing beveled or rounded edges and build it. (b) Make working drawings of a project needing curved or incised cuttings and build it. (c) Make working drawings of a project needing miter, dowel, or mortise and tenon joints and build it. (d) Make a cabinet, box, or something else with a door or lid fastened with inset hinges. (e) Help make wooden toys for underprivileged children OR help carry out a woodworking service project approved by your counselor for a charitable organization. 7. Talk with a cabinetmaker or finish carpenter. Learn about the training, apprenticeships, career opportunities, work conditions, work hours, pay rates, and union organization that woodworking experts have in your area.
Very resourceful to use a wooden wedge as a chisel. I'd have a hatchet doing this so I'd never think to try that. Absolutely going to try something similar now that I've seen this.
@@FelixImmler Wow, I am impressed. Most people start off by calling me Herbert and you knew I was Dan. Got to have respect for a creator that knows his audience. I've been putting in the time watching your videos and completely enjoying every minute.
I made one of these for my sister at camp was just a saw and a Swiss army knife and she was absolutely amazed thank you for the idea it made a great table for the coffee pot while we sat around the fire at night
Meine Hochachtung lieber Felix!
Well done Felix. In my opinion, the most important thing about learning bushcraft skills is you learn to think “outside the box,” that is, outside of your own paradigm. No matter where you find yourself you can find things to help you survive; you’ll see objects as others cannot. What others see as trash or rubbish, you see as potentially useful. Wow, this is something not seen often in the bushcraft "enviroment" - now is all gear, big knives and fast. Thanks Felix, great job! Cheers! Marcelo from Argentina
I am amazed at this project. Everything about it is fantastic. I wish I had even a tiny part of your talent and inspiration for these projects. Thank you for your weekly videos and documenting these wonderful crafts.
Because of your videos I'm wearing a Ranger Swiss army knife every day with me and it already came more than once handy in various situations. Nice videos.
This mans out here making bowtie joins in the woods with a swiss army knife and wood wedges and I'm seeing channels out here needing thousands of dollars of machinery to do it and they still aren't doing it as good. Amazing work, Felix.
