  • This is a sorta-kinda review of Tears of the Kingdom. I loved this game but it is not perfect. Let me tell you about the good and the bad of this game. Enjoy!

I think my biggest gripe with totk is that every boss tagline is “scourge of wherever you fight it”
    Scourge is a fantastic word
    But that’s lame
    The menace unleashed goes hard
Master of the secret stone banger
    Draconifed demon king love that
    Everything else is a scourge
    Just spit balling here
    Call Queen gibdo like
    “Source of the gibdo hives”
    Marbled Gohma something Like
    Marble armored arachnid
Colgera (I don’t have ideas for this)
    Mucktorock something like
    Monger of viscous ooze.
(These ideas are not great I’ll admit but I just want unique boss taglines

Would it of killed them to make Zonai technology look different than the Sheikah's? 😂 I thought art was one of the worst part of game design? At least that what I heard about the process

    Thanks for making this!
I completely understand your feelings about the 'dungeons' and shrines. I have a strong feeling that Fujibayashi, Aonuma, and the entire team of developers must have very consciously decided to go with breadth over depth in order to make the Zelda experience more 'expansive' and accessible, starting with BOTW and continuing into TOTK. There a few reasons I would suggest that resulted in this. The first reason being that the actual programming of a traditional dungeon in BOTW/TOTK would be a colossal undertaking-it wouldn't be impossible, but there would be much less time and energy in development to focus on the quantity of things to do in the overworld. Further, it seems most likely that the gameplay and graphics were the focus during the development of these games, both of which make immersion more likely for more players, rather than immersion more impactful for a smaller group of players, in comparison to dungeon/level design. The second reason is that perhaps that the traditional Zelda dungeons don't appeal to as wide of an audience as the atmospheric and open setting that is found in most of BOTW, but in my opinion the team including caves, wells, and the depths in TOTK is a clear sign that they plan to include something more dungeon-esque in future titles. I have doubts that the series will see something on the magnitude of a Snowpeak Ruins, an Ancient Cistern, or a Forest Temple any time soon, but there's definitely hope for the fans who are looking for dungeons! I also want to mention that (*spoiler*) there is a fifth temple that you might have missed, I assume so since you didn't mention it in the video-it was very easy to miss, but consider looking for it because the quest line and experience is very rewarding.

I did get to that temple, I just kind of forgot to talk about it if I’m being totally honest lol

The story and end game is easily the best part of the game for me. The end game was exactly what I had hoped for, challenging but not 10 tries hard. It only took me 2 attempts, but It also took me an hour. It seriously felt like an even fight.
Up until the end game totk was a solid 8 for me. Love the game, but there was some repetitiveness that bothered me, mainly the escort koroks, which I largely wasn't a big fan of, because they're less learning how to spot were they could be and actually finding them and more just out in the open and sometimes very out of the way. The seer amount of the sign guy, but he gives good rewards so I found I was cooler with him. And the oddly high number of shrine crystals.
My other main gripe being the quality of the shrines. I've completed all of them and honestly alot of them have decent ideas but are pretty simple to figure out. I could just turn my brain mostly off, or when I'd finally got the solution to work I was hardly ever satisfied. The best ones are defiantly the proving grounds as they force you to pay attention and mange what little you have to work with.
I thought the building was cool, but I often found myself getting frustrated the more I was in situations where I was forced to use it. Nearly every time I had the option of either just sticking 2/3 things together or stubbornly climb, jump, and glide over spikes, I always did it the "hard way" cease it felt more fun and rewarding for me. unless I really had to, I never really thought of or went out of my way to build anything.

i really love totk, have very few problems with it. but i’m a little disappointed at the shrines, i feel like there were a lot of Raurus blessings . and it just makes things sad, because i want to do normal shrines and fun puzzles. so the raurus blessings are just a bit of a letdown. literally my only gripe tho

The only flaw that hurts the game for me.....not hearing Kass playing those sweet melodies from a distance and doing everything in my power to find him and listen to his music in the most random of places. EDIT FOR THE CREATOR OF THE VIDEO: This was in my recommended, so you might blow up.

I will say though, I agree on every point you made, I hardly touched the sky, and I fear the depths due to the way they are, but I'm slowly working into them, but it's more of me using the youtube hoverbike and running for my life. I will say, I stayed on the 1.1.1 build, and I'm a dirty filthy cheater with a master sword/royal greatsword at last hit/molduga jaw with the evil spirit set, so yeah.
