Windfall Island is probably one of my favorite locations in all of gaming. It’s just so peaceful and uplifting, and has so much life and personality to it. It takes me back to when I was a kid first experiencing Wind Waker through the 20 minute demo on the Zelda GameCube collection when I was too scared to enter the Temple of Time in Ocarina of Time and to get past the first three days in Majora’s Mask. Even too scared to go past the first room in the Dragon Roost Cavern part of the demo. Windfall is simply soothing and amazing, and I had a blast even though I had no idea what I was doing or how to progress the game.
GREAT VIDEO! Oddly enough my favorite island as a kid was the Private Oasis, because the idea of owning my own island in this game seemed really cool. Also figuring out all the slide puzzles on my own felt like such an achievement.

I'm late but I agree so much with everything you said about Windfall Island. As a little kid I would be too scared to fight enemies, so my brother would do the Forsaken Fortress for me and then I'd run around in Windfall island doing all the quests I could. I feel like I've done all the side quests there (that you can do early on) 100 times over. I love the atmosphere, the music, the characters, the battleship game, riding the windmill, breaking the rich guy's pots, sprinting away from the creepy poor guy, and it all makes a pretty small island feel gigantic and full of character.
One of my favorite parts of Zelda is exploration, but just about every island in this game felt so small and uninteresting. I still enjoyed the game for the most part, but I wish the islands could have been larger and a bit more interesting to explore.
I guess that you can see Wind Waker and Phantom Hourglass as two sides of a same coin, Wind Waker has great exploration but the islands feel a bit small, meanwhile Phantom Hourglass has much less exploration and islands, but the islands are all their own proper zones with quite a bit to explore and often a sizeable bit of land
Hey! i loved the video. Wind waker is my absolute favorite game. i love sailing on the seas. also, there were some funny bits that i liked. I'm subscibing as well as looking forward to your future content. edit: in the windfall island section, i would have also mentionned how much you are contributing to this place. you decorate with flowers, help some dude with a coat open his shop, you help tingle, you help the kids and the teacher, you help the poor father to get rich by saving his daughter, you help the girl to realize stealing is bad, and overall you do a lot of stuff for the island and that sense of progression is amazing
Could you imagine if they randomised big Octos? I was scared to play Wind Waker when I was 7-10 because of the big Octos. But could you imagine them randomised, with no idea where they were, on what quadrant they're at, with no seagulls indicating they were there? It would have terrified me back in the day lol
This is a great video. Straight to the point, short blips, good humor. Truthfully I was looking for a video that showed all the islands, and this was awesome to find and watch because it was simple and funny. Maybe developed a crush by the end. Very charming creator!
As a kid, the Earth Temple scared me so much, i was afraid to even finish playing the game after beating both sage temples, out of fear of facing more Redeads
That bit about Headstone Island is relateable. Now I never played Wind Waker as a kid, but I loved Sonic Adventure 2, and for me that level was Egg Quarters. I was TERRIFIED of that level because of the beetle robots, and I had to have my sister beat it for me.
yess windfall in my favourite too! It's the home of all the low-stakes side quests. You play hide and seek, you solve people's problems, you give people gifts, you play minigames, you buy stuff, collect fun items... It's just. nice.
Shark Island isn't exactly my FAVORITE island, but I really have to hype it up because Shark Island is also home to the single biggest mob fight in the entire game; literally, it can take you 5-ish minutes to clear out all the enemies there, it can be super fun to just run back in there and go absolutely wild to see how fast you can do it since there are so many and they're thrown at you in groups you'll never see anywhere else in the game. It's like a marathon battle!
Star Belt Archipelago has virtually nothing going for it. The only point of interest in the square is a lonely platform guarded by four Bokoblins, with either a red rupee or a treasure chart (depending on which version you're playing). Even Five-Star Isles's square has a submarine surrounded by a group of platforms to make up for its lack of walkable land. Near Seven-Star Isles, you'll find a trio of platforms where you fight three small waves of Wizzrobes, as well as one of the two 12-eyed Giant Octos. Star Belt has the aforementioned platform, the occasional Ghost Ship sighting (every first quarter moon), a handful of Seahats, and some Kargorocs nesting atop the rocks themselves. That's it.
Over half of this video felt like it could've been set to a rap beat, because it was rhythmic and smoothly spoken. And it transitioned from one island to the next quickly for most of it. Well done.
One of my favorite is shark island, not because it’s a shark looking but because of the cave full of monsters to kill, and a very cool ruby farm with enemy loots

Stonewatcher Island literally looks like a golf course 3:23 and plenty of other islands seem like they'd work quite nicely. The more elaborate islands like Outset or Forsaken could have multiple holes while simpler islands like Stonewatcher or Horseshoe could be single holes. It's such a cool concept! 😄
I like Tingle Island because you can have a gold life sized statue collection. Problem is the HD version while still having the statues removed the co-op option to even see them so you have to already know where they are to even get them.

I'm fixing to move to American Samoa. Tiny island territory of the United States. I half have it in my mind that it's going to be like Outset Island or Windfall Island, hahaha
If Tetra’s ship could be an island location, I’d rank it in the top 5 too! Outset has my favorite music of the game. I agree-Windfall takes the cake. I looked forward to just hanging out there and talking to everyone and doing all the side quests. + The auctions!
I was considering adding tetras ship or the ghost ship to make it an even 50 things but ultimately decided to stick with the 49 main islands. Tetras ship wouldn’t be too 5 for me but definitely in the top 15!
I really wished WW wasn’t rushed, because I would’ve loved to see the Fire Mountain & Ice Ring Isle as full Dungeons rather than a 1 room small puzzle/obstacle to conquer
Man, as a kid I remember the Tower of the Gods being my favorite island cause of the atmosphere, weird tech-y stuff, and sheer monumentality. Probably why I have a mild obsessions with big ass, mysterious towers today. Though since you mentioned it "cheated" its way to the top, I'm curious: if going to Hyrule was detatched from the tower for whatever reason, where would its placement be?
Good question! It’s still a decent dungeon with a cool boss fight. Probably around number 11, under the forsaken fortress and above the flight control platform
Fun fact I forgot about the leaf so I did the second hole of golf with a bow witch made me wanna die then I stood at the third hole for like 15 minutes until wondering wtf to do. I felt so stupid
As a kid I had a crush on Medli so although I also like Makar, I will always prefer the Earth Temple and Medli. My favorite Island is the one that had the slime cave below it. I don't remember which one it was (didn't play the game ina logn time and not in english either) simply because the slimes are so cute and goofy.

Great video, and this game is awesome, but, Phantom Hourglass does a much better job with its islands! Every island in that game has at least SOME merit and deserves to exist.
@@domidoodleYT Despite what some people might say, Phantom Hourglass is awesome! I highly recommend it on Wii U or DS if you have one. There's some give and take with that game. The game is in 2D, but the gameplay is so unique and works well and does crazy things with the DS touch screen! Etc.

You can't click any Zelda video without something botw related being shoved in your face anymore. It's like the universe wants me to hate that game more than I already am.
@@domidoodleYT I did, don't worry hahaha. My love for Wind Waker outweighs my hatred for botw. I got a bit heated, sorry about that. You did a great job on the video and it's a fun idea that I hadn't seen before!
@@domidoodleYT Most of all the game made me realise that I do not like open world games. I missed content that I didn't know I missed until months later, and when content can be skipped it feels meaningless to me. There is so much content in the game just to fill space, and yet the world felt so empty and lifeless. I found myself really bored by the game after the first couple hours, and once I got bored I started finding nitpicks that turned into gripes, which in turn turned into spite. I hate how there is nothing to find outside of shrines a.k.a spirit orbs, koroks and weapons that break . I hate how lonely the game feels with no companion and a the important characters only being seen in skippable cutscenes. I hate how none of the things that make me love Zelda games are present; dungeons, Link's green tunic, hummable music, engaging side quests, unique items etc. But most of all I hate how the game has ruined the Zelda fandom. I've found myself in conversations with people who argue that Wind Waker vastly inferior to botw only to later find out that they've never even played a Zelda game other than botw. So many people who call themselves Zelda experts who don't even have an interest in the other games or the lore, but they have 300h in botw so they think they know it all. I know that doesn't go for everyone, or even the majority, but they're such a heavy presence in the community that I've withdrawn myself from the community all together. No videos are maid without mentioning botw anymore, if you list your top 5 favourite Zelda games without botw you'll be attacked for having no taste. Sorry, this got way longer than I intended... I'm also sorry for all the typos I'm sure are there, typing on a phone is not my strong suit.
@@SaveMeMoon All good on the length, it's kind of cool someone took the time to engage with me in the comments of my stupid video haha. I kind of agree with you on all of your points, yet I still enjoy BOTW and am excited for the sequel. I know you don't like it at all really, but what I always say is that BOTW is a great game, just not a great Zelda game. It has a lot of strong points as a video game, but misses a lot of key Zelda features that I really missed as well. Kind of confusing feelings to be honest haha, loving the game but also being disappointed by the non-Zelda-ness of it. And for the record, BOTW is probably my 6th favorite ;)
@domidoodle No kidding. After all the the games that rolled out over the years, very few were as captivating, original, thorough & fulfilling. Its very hard for me to this excited over a game because not very games do this many things right. @@Marceline8080 interesting! I didn’t know you couldn’t drown in the pool there 🤔
i think you forgot to mention that the video is DOPE AS SHIT
My friend you are dope as shit for watching and leaving a comment
UA-cam recommended this randomly... I've never played Wind Waker, so of course I was like "Sure, I'll watch that."
Long story short, I like your sense of humor and you just earned yourself a subscriber :)
First off, thank you! Second, I was in someone’s recommended! Making moves 😎
@@domidoodleYT Yup, made it to my front page :) congrats on that btw, youtube rarely recommends small channels to me. I hope you're channel grows a lot. When I started the video and hadn't looked at the subscriber count yet, I expected something around 10k at least because the video quality is really good, I think you deserve more attention.
Also, thanks for the heart :)
@@antiheldin4840 that all means a lot. Here have another ❤️
I'm fixing to move to American Samoa. Tiny island territory of the United States. I half have it in my mind that it's going to be like Outset Island or Windfall Island, hahaha
That’s so exciting for you! Safe travels!
I’m trynna be like stonewatcher island ya feel
Aren’t we all
I really wished WW wasn’t rushed, because I would’ve loved to see the Fire Mountain & Ice Ring Isle as full Dungeons rather than a 1 room small puzzle/obstacle to conquer
I agree they could’ve been so awesome!
Dude, that was hilarious lol. Subscribed.
Thank you ☺️
Idea: Ranking every Zelda playable song (the ones you can play by howling, or playing an instrument like the harp, Ocarina, etc...)
Yoooo this idea is great! The music is one of my favorite things about Zelda! I’ll get to work soon 😉
I love rankings videos like this
Thank you ☺️
@@domidoodleYT im sorry but I can’t watch because of spoilers. I will subscribe in case you make more videos like this
@@sledgen. that’s okay but you haven’t played Wind Waker yet???
@@domidoodleYT no but I plan to. I’m playing majoras mask right now
@@sledgen. finish majoras mask and then wind waker next! It’s my favorite and sooo good
Shark island is home to one of the toughest mini battles in the game. Crescent Moon is the only island with 2 blue chuchu.
I didn’t actually realize that fact about the 2 chuchus, pretty neat
This video was DOPE AS SHIT!
You’re dope as shit for commenting on my stupid video 🥰
You're gonna do great things
Thank you! This means so much!
Solid list, def agree with the top 5 :)
Thank you :)
dude is actually funny as shit
Thank you! Glad someone enjoys my sense of humor ☺️
the way you speak and how you sound reminds me of that one guy in my high school friends group. he was difficult.
I’m sorry to haunt you like this 😔
Zelda fans: WW’s world isn’t empty
WW’s world:
Haha you’re kinda right
Fun fact I forgot about the leaf so I did the second hole of golf with a bow witch made me wanna die then I stood at the third hole for like 15 minutes until wondering wtf to do. I felt so stupid
It happens to the best of us
gonna be honest you deserve more subs
Maybe some day!
Pawprint Isle
Interesting favorite!
"Some just are the poop deck." Yeah, sums it up right.
Great video 👍
Thank you!
@@domidoodleYT Np man, I love Wind waker soo much, its my favourite zelda game and I completely agree I love windfall, outset abd dragon roost Island 😄
This video has chaotic energy
My mental state as a video
Me: oh he’s gonna rank every island that doesn’t have 25 things to do as the worst
Guy: I decided to replay my FAVORITE Zelda, the wind waker
Me: I retract my previous statement.
This made me laugh
@@domidoodleYT great vid btw, reef islands were filler but yeah pretty accurate

True haha didn’t even think to mention that.. Thank you for your comment!
I wish Nintendo would only have given us the opportunity to completely explore the overworld after giving us the Master Sword

Thank you!
This video flooded back so much nostalgia for me, and everything you said was 100% my experience too. Great video
Wind waker is super nostalgic for me too. Absolutely love it
70 subs and this fucking awesome video is your first?
Thank you so much ☺️ could’ve been better but I tried my best
Great video, and this game is awesome, but, Phantom Hourglass does a much better job with its islands! Every island in that game has at least SOME merit and deserves to exist.
Phantom hourglass is one of the few I haven’t really played, I’ve heard the islands are a lot more fleshed out though
@@domidoodleYT Despite what some people might say, Phantom Hourglass is awesome! I highly recommend it on Wii U or DS if you have one. There's some give and take with that game. There's less islands and the game is more linear, but every island has value and at least one memorable thing about it. The game is in 2D, but the gameplay is so unique and works well and does crazy things with the DS touch screen! Etc.
@@Nickk7878-v8t I actually do have it for DS already, just never got around to playing it for some reason. You might be the reason I finally do though!

Outta both pockets tbh
Favourite island overall: Outset
Best inhabitants: Dragon Roost
Coolest name: Star Belt Archipelago
Most useful: Windfall
Best atmosphere: Forsaken Fortress
Most mysterious: Thorned Fairy Island
Coolest landmarks: Triangle Islands
Best caves: Pawprint
Coolest aesthetic: TOTG

You can't click any Zelda video without something botw related being shoved in your face anymore. It's like the universe wants me to hate that game more than I already am.
It was only like 5 seconds please look past it 🥺
@@domidoodleYT I did, don't worry hahaha. My love for Wind Waker outweighs my hatred for botw. I got a bit heated, sorry about that. You did a great job on the video and it's a fun idea that I hadn't seen before!
@@SaveMeMoon Hey thank you! Just curious, why don’t you like BOTW?
This game was perfect.
It’s pretty darn close to perfect
@domidoodle No kidding. After all the the games that rolled out over the years, very few were as captivating, original, thorough & fulfilling. Its very hard for me to this excited over a game because not very games do this many things right. They were so careful and that says something because nowadays anyone can download a game design engine for free & pay some random to design the textures for you. It was so much harder to make games back then.
What if we had a widn waker mod to randomizat the islands 🏝 and all boring islands are replaced with new original ones imagens the infinit adventers
That would be pretty cool!
I like yer energy boiii
This game played itself for not having a fishing system
True that could’ve been amazing
Personally, Dragon Roost is my number one
For some reason I thought the game had a GameCube island
That would be pretty cool!
Phantom Hourglass has Dee Ess island that is shaped like a Nintendo DS. Is that what you were thinking of?
