- What a crazy run this was. Cleaned up a good chunk of mistakes from my previous PB. Made some errors in Marble 1, Spring Yard 2, Starlight 3 and lost 2 seconds from subpixels in Scrap Brain 3, but the rest of the stages were fantastic. 8:xx is the ultimate goal for me in this game.
This also gives me back the Sonic Trilogy sweep for now having WR for all three games at the same time as of 8/14/2021.
What is IGT?
IGT stands for Ingame time. Sonic 1 speedruns are timed by tallying up the time at the end of each act. I'm using a visual auto splitter created by Gottagofaster so I don't have to input the time for each act. Link to it here: github.com/gottagofaster236/S...
What version of Sonic 1 is this?
This is the original release of Sonic 1 being played on the Sega Genesis Model 2.

I've been wondering, does pressing all the buttons to jump do anything special or do you do it to make sure ONE of those inputs will actually make you jump in case Sonic somehow doesn't?
Yeah. Sonic 1 can sometimes eat inputs, so 3 button presses at once is just for insurance. Haha

For spindashing, at least in s3&k, you can charge it up to 6 times. Some speedrunners, iirc, hit all three jump buttons like a keyboard 2-3 times to charge the spinach as quickly as possible.

i’m a very new viewer to this speedrun , played casually for over 20 years. Is sub 9 very possible ? or is this run untouchable ? seems it’s very beatable with the marble 1 mistake but i have no clue lol. GG’s for -38 PB and WR!!
eandis, also known as thesupernintendofan has world record with a run under 9 minutes, so joey's 9:02 is an extremely solid run but it is no longer world record

If collecting the rings means the score counts down for longer at the end... would it be faster to jump the rings where possible?
The timer stops for the score count for this very reason. Rings and a low time means a longer run to count the score. That's why they go off of level time instead of total playtime. In a way, Sonic The Hedgehog's score system punishes speedrunners for their time. Ironic that a game about speed is the one to punish speedrunners.
When speed runners play RTA, they usually stop before the end to go past the 30 seconds mark, which saves them around 5 seconds (0:29 = 50,000 points ; 0:30 = 10,000 points) No need to do that when you play IGT

I think it is false because I tried what it did in Marble zone act1 and it did not work although there is a small possibility that after 4 days Sega noticed the bug although I do not know what you think? Although it was good bro

I think in marble zone 3 u can touch the button at 31 to avoid 50000 poins count , its faster at 31 a think

@@Javierolizola89 depende existen distintas categorias, las que aceptan y las que no aceptan bug, aceptando bug es justo ya que hay que saber como y donde aplicar los bugs.
@@Javierolizola89 It is completly acceptable to use glitches in speedruns. There are glitchless categories if you prefer runs like that tho.
