    got a pair a few weeks ago. they are noice, but beware… cable connecting from left to the right speaker is pretty short, and it barely reaches the other speaker when placed on our 160cm (dunno how much freedom units it is) desk. also, the cable is pretty rigid on the ends which go into the speakers so forget having your desk flush with the wall, especially if you are mounting them on microphone stands like i am (albeit, i have tiny microphone stands in fact its just the clamp with the fitting on top of it, you are supposed to attach the gooseneck or whatever to it but im just screwing the speakers onto it so the cable problem is even worse, i have to pull the table away from the wall even more). also, and this could be just in my case, i have to turn the volume knob to about 60% to get decent, well… volume. 60% on the speakers and about 60% on my modx+. i am using balanced cables but still. will inspect further, maybe im doing something wrong aka maybe wrong cables, but they are balanced though (they have two rings, not just one which afaik is for unalanced cables). i also heard they are always in standby and cant be turned off without unplugging from the wall, but adam said they are working on a firmware upgrade and it seems mine were shipped with new firmware, since if i long push the volume know once red light starts blinking, dont even know which mode that is for (have to look into it), but if i long press once more the speakers do turn off. all in all, i needed small speakers, mounting with threaded 3/8 hole was a huge plus for me (dont have room for neither normal stands nor clamped stands for speakers), they were cheap (260$ in my neck of the alpine woods) and they do sound good and can produce a nice amount of bass. oh, yes. two more things. BE CAREFUL when placing them, moving them and handling them. i forgot they have these two bass ports on each side of the speaker and if you are not careful you are going to accidentally grab them when handling speakers, trust me. also, included stands do tend to slide off when moving the speakers, its not bad but they can slide out so be careful. thank you for coming to my TED talk.

      The connection cable between the 2 monitors is 2 mt, plenty of lenght. These are small monitors anyway so they will have to stay much closer.

      @ is it 2m? yeah, i guess so, but the ends barely reach across 160cm desk and yeah, the cable does have flex so i guess it is indeed 2m when laid flat.

    Nice review bro. I currently use iLoud Micro Monitors (first release) and a pair of Neumann NDH 30 headphones. I do most of my work on the headphones at the moment and then reference on the iLouds. I wonder, how the D3Vs compare to the iLouds?

    • @md3signstudio
      @md3signstudio  12 днів тому +1

      I tested that 2 days ago and I'm surprised by both of them. If I had to decide which one is better, it would be a hard battle since both sound great! I would say they are very similar, but they also sound different. ADAM's ribbon tweeter really comes out and gives you that amazing response while I like the overall sound of the iLouds.

      @@md3signstudio Thanks for this! I personally have only listened to the ADAM A7X's once, so I can't say much about ADAM in general. I'm looking to get a pair of 3-way studio monitors next year. My only concern about getting ADAM monitors is that I may get fatigued by the high end. I really like the sound signature of my Neumann headphones and I'm leaning towards buying the KH 310's. I know you are an ADAM guy, but out of curiosity, have you experienced other brands of monitors? I'm specifically looking at the following monitors (because of price range): Neumann KH 310, EVE SC3070, HEDD Type 20, Focal Trio6, Barefoot footprint03

      If you mean the Iloud Micro Monitors, they sound not that mature compared to the Adam. The Iloud cut off any bass under 47 Hz, the Adam can play down to 32-33Hz, if you want them to (with an EQ). Stock they play down to audible 37Hz in my room. The highs are extremely precise and the mids too, the phantom center is super sharp and detailed. They are even more precise than my measured Iloud MTM. I'm extremely impressed.

    Great review. Thank you! If you try a sinus sweep, when do you start hearing bass? I know they are listed as 45Hz speakers but in reality the bass often starts earlier (with low dB of course). Thanks in advance!

      @md3signstudio  20 днів тому

      @@SundtMusic Good question! I did the test and I start hearing the bass around 38Hz. Maybe they even start earlier, but I wasn't like boosting them too much. 👍

    • @SundtMusic
      @SundtMusic 20 днів тому

      @md3signstudio that's great news, the Iloud Micro have a good bass until 50Hz and then roll off very quickly, 47Hz is the last frequency you can hear. No EQ can change that because the internal dsp is regulating this. If the bass roll off is not that steep on the D3V then maybe it's possible to push the sub bass with an EQ a bit (for lower volume levels ofc). I will try it myself, already ordered a pair. Will compare them to the Iloud MTM I own.
      Thanks for your help:)

    • @SundtMusic
      @SundtMusic 19 днів тому

      @@md3signstudio I just received the Adams and I'm just as impressed as you. I use calibrated Iloud MTM for my home studio and always loved them, and now I feel betrayed because the non-measured Adam on my desk play incredible detailed, but it's not about oversatured highs or mids - no, the phantom center is EXACTLY in the middle of my screen, it feels like the singer is exactly in front of you.
      After this initial impression I measured them as well and stock they play down to 37--38 Hz in my room. With EqualizerAPO I was able to squeeze 32Hz out of them! Insane for the size. Of course I use this only with low volumes. The Iloud MTM can reach the same but with more volume and power. But the fact that these small Adams go that deep is impressive. I will continue testing and even feel tempted to replace the Iloud MTM due to the much increased precision.

      Short: I compared Adams to Iloud Micro and MTM and I didn't expect the Adams to fight the Iloud MTM instead of the Micro. The Adam play almost as deep as MTM when room corrected with EqualizerAPO, with more precision in mids and highs, noticable better phantom center.
