Black Stone all the way for me, you are cooking with a big nonstick skillet that wears out fast. Glad you like it! to each their own. Thanks for sharing!
I'm old school ( and I'm really old too ! ), I have loved cooking on cast iron for years. So when I bought a griddle, I got a Blackstone, rolled steel because it's basically like cast iron. It's what I am comfortable with. To each their own. Men, that breakfast sure looked good.
Haha!! No worries brother! We honestly love it all! Rolled steel and the ceramic, we’ve had so much success on both, and for sure, you gotta do what is comfortable for you! Much love fam, GRIDDLE ON!🔥🔥
Just contacted Pitboss this morning about a replacement griddle top and customer service was excellent. Sent photos of the damage and receipt of purchase and they are replacing the griddle for free. Wondering what I can do going forward with the new top so it doesn’t flake off. Any ideas?
Received replacement top for pit boss and first cook went well. Low temperature and no food sticking. Clean up using only paper towel. Cook sausages and onions and peppers
I agree that you should go with what ever allows you and your brother to cook the most food and sponsor you I just wish I could see you cook on the blackstone cause I started watching when I got mine.
It would be interesting to see how customer service is for ordinary people. You have a relationship with Pit Boss and they want you to portray them in a good light. For the rest of us, who knows. I've had mine for about 1 year and love it. It has not failed me yet. Just wondering.
I just received a new top under warranty. I did an online chat with a customer service rep. He sent a link to upload a picture, and then ordered me a new one. Got it a week later.
I just used my pit boss ultimate Griddle for the first time. I'm a bit of a germaphobe so I actually washed the Griddle before mounting it on the stand. Just because I wanted to be cautious, I let it burn for approximately 15min or so before beginning my cook. After doing all that prior to cooking, I was greatly disappointed with the taste of my smash burgers. They had a chemical taste to them and my wife agreed. I was wondering if you have any suggestions. I really didn't smell chemicals or see smoke or anything when I did the burnoff.
Thank you for watching and congratulations on the new griddle! The Ultimate Griddle with the ceramic top is designed to be cleaned with soap and water. I know you said you washed it before mounting, but the instructions also recommend cleaning the surface with soap and water. The units are generally coated with a soy based oil before being shipped out to preserve the tops in the event they will be sitting on store shelves for a long period of time. There shouldn’t be any chemical taste. Hope this helps fam!
I am unclear on what you mean by surface, I washed the griddle top surface with soap and water and then thoroughly dried it with a lint free cloth, so any oil residue should have been removed. I cooked my bacon 1st and added a small amount of avacado oil for my onions, but my smash burgers were cooked with the tiniest of bacon oil residue. It's a mystery, maybe it was the avacado oil. I don't usually cook with it, but I know it has a high burn point so I used it for this cook. I will clean the griddle plate one more time and try a different oil to see if I get better results.
I’ve got 400+ cooks on my 22” Blackstone, and it still looks brand new! I cook lots of stuff to that’s different. Burgers to breakfast and Mexican dishes, and it performs like a champ!
Hey brother! For sure it’s a great unit - we’ve had similar experiences here with the Pit Boss after years on the Blackstone, we just love it all! We for sure have no concerns with the Pit Boss, and feel they will just keep getting better (early Blackstone models are not as good as newer ones, they all improve). It’s great to see you again in the comments fam! Take care and GRIDDLE ON!🔥🔥
I'm trying to decide between the rolled steel Blackstone and the ceramic-coated Pit Boss for my very first griddle. It will go pretty much unused for about four months (with a cover, but out in the elements from December through March). Plus, the summer in this area is often hot and humid. I also don't have a garage or shed for storage...so would the things I've mentioned tend to cause a rusting problem for either of these flat tops...or is keeping them properly clean and dry (and seasoned, for the Blackstone) all that's needed to avoid rusting (even under less than ideal circumstances?
Hey fam!! Overall, storing properly and caring for them is going to be key. Storing the ceramic top longer periods is going to be much easier to care for, as the ceramic won’t deteriorate or rust over time. Hope this helps somewhat fam!!🔥🔥
Thanks for posting this video. I live in Europe and it can be a lot more difficult to get flat top grills and a lot more expensive. I currently don't have a flat top but I am looking to get one, The Pitboss has been high on my list but after looking at both your and Neal's videos about having to change the top, It is going down the list. They may have great service in the US but in Europe, that may well be a different story. I currently use the griddle on my Masterbuilt gravity 800, I find it great and love it but it can be tough without zone areas. I know people may say because of the number of cooks you do will enhance problems but I cook outdoors 7 days a week sometimes more than once and on the griddle at least 5 cooks a week so it will get a lot of use.
Thank you for watching fam, we totally get it - our intent for sure was to show the incredible service, but we also think Pit Boss has done a great job with this unit. We have also been using the cast iron unit (Deluxe 4 burner) and have been loving it as well!!🔥🔥
I am days away from my PB Ultimate 5 Burner - I've been eating (not literally) every one of your videos on the subject of cooking and cleaning.. I can hardly wait! Thank you for the Great Videos! Yer Help is a ... 'smash' ... ;)
Hi guys. I’m thinking of going with a Ultimate griddle over the BS because of ease of care and cleanup mostly. I have a question for you; I’m concerned about higher heat and warping. I want to make sure I get a good sear on a ribeye, and I heard you talk about turning the griddle on high while cooking smash burgers. Do I have to worry about warping the griddle if I use high to sear a steak? Is warping a worrisome problem? Thanks!
Given the sound of crickets....I believe that speaks volumes. As a Sierra owner, these are expensive and if your like most and don't have sponsorship thru Pit Boss.....look elsewhere. Chances are the majority won't run into these issues until the warranty is gone, then it's a couple hundred more to replace the cooktop.
How did you get ahold of them. Im about 10-15ish cooks in and two tiny pieces/chips of the ceramic top have come off near one of the corners. I dont see an email or contact into on their site. It's the sierra griddle i got it on clearance at walmart & looks like they discontinued that model from what I can see so not sure they can help anyways. Thanks!
Thanks guys. Love the channel and love the grill. So what is the process for this though? How do you start (what number to call) to begin a replacement top?
Cooke big breakfast the other night, LOVE the easy cleanup as compared to BS. Just sold my Adventure ready 22” BS to a happy new owner this morning! Now my Blackstone culinary pro 1901 is up for sale. Pitboss is easier!
Hi Tina! Yup - a little finagling and we can get them to work again. You can actually pull the knobs off, the lights are attached and I believe Pit Boss will replace them. Much love fam!!🔥🔥
I bought a 4 burner Ultimate Christmas of 22. Cook top is already pitted and pretty beat up looking. Do the replacement cook tops or newer grills have an updated surface or is it the same?
Hey fam! Have you tried a deep clean? Are you using metal utensils? How much oil do you use to cook with? Sorry for all the questions, sometimes knowing can help with an assessment - as far as the new tops, they are the same, but we’ve heard that there may have been some earlier tops that may have not been as good.
Seems like this wpuld a great time to level the surface as well. Once leveled, Mark the floor where the wheels are so next time you can go right back to the same place and be level, or at least the same as when you set it up.
Set it place, adjust and still mark the pavement. AlWAYs know where the low spot is. Of course,it might be difficult if you're not the owner of the property too. Still, Customer Service is an investment in itself for both company and customer.
Do you know whether or not they sell a replacement griddle top for the Sierra? I want to get the Sierra, but I will only spring for it if I know I can replace the ceramic top if I mess it up or it just wears out.
Gosh Thankyou. So no seasoning necessary? I have one and have gotten very confused about this. The book doesn’t address this. I bought metal utensils( bummer) but I will get the pit boss ones asap. Thankyou, now maybe I can use it. I have the 3 burner portable one and finally put it together and have been chicken about using.
Thank you so much for watching! It depends on the unit, is yours an Ultimate 3 burner, or Deluxe? If it is the Ultimate, then yes, you are good without seasoning it and do need the nylon and silicone utensils. 🤙🤙
Adam & Brett... I happened to watch the video by The Flat Top King the other day regarding his Pit Boss griddle that he has issues with the surface. I have a Blackstone 17" E-Series griddle and I'm wondering if I may end up with similar issues since it has a ceramic surface also. I sure hope not. I really like the ability to cook on a griddle indoors when the weather here in Colorado is not conducive to being outside when there is snow or sub-teen temperatures or high winds. At least with my Blackstone 28" Range Top Combo griddle if the surface gets messed up I can always take my disk grinder with a wire wheel and strip the surface and start over seasoning it. I've had it close to three years now and have yet to feel the need to strip it down and re-season.
Hey brother! Nothing to worry about - we’ve spoken with Neal, and like him, we’ve been doing more “rough” cook big to test the limits. We expect these to last us several years when we aren’t trying to beat them up!😂😂
Hello, I have an issue with my Pit Boss 4 burner griddle top. What is the best way to get in contact with you so i can show you what happened and get some advice?
I have recently gone through the warranty process to replace my Sierra top after 1 year. I have used it almost daily here in Wyoming. The process was fairly easy. I had my receipt and all the necessary information. They did try to make me go through some processes first and actually sent me a link to one of your videos. However, I informed them that I had already tried everything. They then sent me a replacement top that should arrive today. I have been generally happy with this griddle but have had issues with hot spots and sticking almost since the beginning. I am still confused about how to keep this griddle from sticking. Perhaps I made the mistake like yall with the oils in the beginning. I'm aware that no non stick surface will last forever but hopefully I have better luck this time. The invoice amount for the replacement top said 55 dollars. I did not see the Sierra top for sale in their site so I'm not sure if that's what they sell them for. If so, that's not a terrible price to replace every so often if you want to keep using the non-stick. I'm going to say eventually that when I'm ready to fully replace my griddle next time that I would try the Blackstone instead. It will depend on how my experience with this 2nd Sierra top goes. I would love to see an updated video/ instructions on how to use and care for it as it seems there are conflicting instructions.
You mention the need for a "burn-off," yet I have read recent comments about NOT doing a burn-off...that very high temps can cause some damage to the ceramic coating (something about micro cracks). This may also apply to the high heat used to get that great crust on steaks and smash burgers. Do you have any updates regarding using high heat with the ceramic flat top?
I’m having low heat issues with my Sierra. During warm weather it’s just ok, 360° tops. I colder weather or any wind it’s alway 275° or lower. Any ideas as to what’s wrong? I’ve changed tanks and reset the regulator and nothing seems to help.
Hmmm… as I was reading this, I was going to say, either change the tank or regulator. The only thing I can think at this point is call customer service? They are really good. Let us know if that helps! Much love fam! Griddle on!!!😁❤️🤙
Sounds like the Pit Boss customer service is top notch, so important when considering a brand to purchase. I really want one eventually, but of course with my luck, the top will wear out just after the two year warranty expires. I just had my NVME boot drive go out on me on my desktop computer last week (I'm currently using my laptop), and the warranty for the drive ended in December... I am livid!! I just bought a replacement that's twice the capacity for half the price I paid for my old one though, so I'm at least there is that... just need the time to fix my computer now. One thing about a non-stick surface, no-matter what kind, it will always wear out and will need replacing. A cold-rolled steal top, like a cast-iron, can last pretty much forever as long as it's properly taken care of. I still do love my non-stick skillets though, they are great for making eggs, and pancakes, etc... and they are so easy to clean! Keep on Griddlin'!
That sucks brother!😂😂 I feel like I have the same luck sometimes. I think with the ceramic units they for sure will have a point where they wear out, but we are really anxious to see how far we can push these new tops - after having been really rough with the first ones, we think we can go a few years. Some Blackstone owners will keep theirs for years, while many toss them at the first sight of rust. Everyone has cast iron in their cookware that they’ve had forever, but it sits to the side (for most) out of convenience - I think that’s the case here. It really will come down to preference. What we think would be ideal, would be a unit that you could switch between the two, and maybe even toss on a stainless steel top too! I ordered a deluxe unit (Pit Boss’ rolled steel unit) because I want to have the option for both, cuz we love it all brother! You know we always appreciate your comments and insights! Take care brother, GRIDDLE ON! Oh, and good luck with the boot drive!😳😳
Hey guys I know this is a little off topic but I cant find any info on the PB website. Where exactly is the serial number on the Sierra so I can register my unit? Thanks for convincing me to buy it, first cook is TODAY!!!
Brian! I am so sorry we didn’t get back to you sooner! We’re you able to find it? Please don’t hesitate to reach out! We are on fb and Instagram as well! Griddle on brother!!!😁❤️🤙
Brethren! Glad that Pit Boss stands behind their product. Look forward to 100’s more cooks. I know that this will work well on the #Waltwins food truck. Griddle on!
My Brothers!! Great video! Thank you for sharing what you guys have gone through with the griddles and there is a "chance" a new top might have to be ordered. I love my Sierra and I am hopeful it will last a long time as well! Can't wait to see more!! Griddle On my Brothers!!
I called this when you first started using these in the comment section. And as ambassadors for pitboss, your service will of course be amazing. Not to say customers won't. But you can't blame us regular folks for being suspect.
We only chose to share this video after many conversations with Pit Boss owners, we recognize everyone’s experience will be different. I will point out however, not one concern or complaint after posting this video has come from Pit Boss owners, only those who have been somewhat critical or suspect of us from the beginning. Cheers brother.🤙🤙
I bought a 3 burner pit boss and I haven't noticed any changes in the griddle top however I haven't cooked as much as you guys have should I be expecting needing to replace the cook top after a period of time or did you get a bad cook top?
Hey fam! For the ceramic, you don’t need to oil after cleaning. I have the deluxe model and found they have the same directions for both, but the oil should be just for the steel units, not ceramic. Hope this helps!
I got mine replaced back in May 23 after a year when everything was sticking to it. I just follow their directions & use their associated tools from their website. I can already see on my new top spots where it looks like the coating is going dull again! I have only gone through less than a tank of propane since replacement. very annoying. I will ask if maybe they can just send a non-coated replacement (if they have one that fits).
I’ve been thinking of getting a Griddle, but if I would have to get a new top every few years that’s not really a selling point for me. I have a Big Green Egg & a few other cookers & pizza ovens & use them year round in extreme cold (the coldest being -40 c 🇨🇦). Looks like rolled steel is just look after it, but with what’s happening to these PitBoss tops …. Well they can keep it.
Understood for sure, but we don’t think this will need to be replaced often - we have a few hundred cooks on these units - and they have held up, even with being really rough on them. That said, for sure a rolled steel unit will hold up, but with extreme weather like you mention, rust will be an issue. Our intent here was to be transparent about our one unit. We have another Sierra (ceramic top) griddle that has over 100 cooks and looks like it did on day one - not even close to wearing down. We for sure will continue to demonstrate and show how they hold up over time, and maybe as more time passes they will be able to prove their worth. Cheers fam!🤙🤙
We live in Montana, our winters for 4 months long and can be -30 below. Never had an issue with my Steele top. I have even cooked when 0 degrees with snow falling.
So on the older cleaning vids, you guys oiled after cleaning. Now we're saying don't oil after cleaning or on initial start up? Just got a sierra trying to not ruin it
Thank you so much for watching! It really is a debated topic…. We don’t oil it, although it is what Pit Boss recommends - specifically so the corners and anywhere there may be space where the metal can be exposed to rust. 🤙🤙
Hey guys - curious...wondering if this non-stick starts wearing out down the road - can the ceramic coat be sanded off and then seasoned similar to cold rolled steel surface? I'd imagine it could.
i would buy the sierra right now, but unfortunately they don't have it anymore and its been out of stock for a long time. I am hoping that means pit boss will be releasing a new version of it.
This is the part that still confuses us! Here in Central Florida, when we did this, the next time we used it the griddle surface was a bit sticky from the oil and required a bit of cleaning. That said, underneath the surface is meat, and in the corners it can begin to rust. We are waiting for a bit more clarity on the oil, but our experience has been that oil wasn’t necessary. Hope this helps, thank you for watching!
We recognize our position, and knew some would only see/hear what they wanted to - that our experience is unique. This video was given careful consideration and we recognize we have an audience with Pit Boss. In our experience with the company - well before we had a direct connection, coupled with the experience of many we’ve spoken with, gave us good reason to be transparent about our surface having issues, and share that experience here. Have you had a negative experience with Pit Boss? Just want to understand the intent of leaving this comment. Cheers.
Nice customer service from Pitt Boss. You guys are bound to put more wear on them than the average person, but with all non-stick, it wears out eventually. That doesn't make it a bad product😊
Oh crap..i just finished putting together my 3 burner ultimate grill and scared of it now..don't think pit boss will treat me the same as big UA-cam guys..
Hey all! I love the griddle fire company lunches on Fridays, but unfortunately while I was out on leave for 6 months it was not kept up as I would in accordance with the manufacturers suggestions. Ultimately, there seems to be some residue cooked onto the surface that I can’t get off no matter what I try. I’ve tried it all aside from abrasive products. The residue is likely for release commonly used in waffle makers. Can anyone give me a sure way to remove it? It chips off ever so slightly with my fingernail, but it’s really, really hard and just not coming off the surface. Thanks!
Hey fam! We hope it works out. We found the baking soda method got rid of some residue similar to what you are discussing last winter on our Sierra unit - aside from that if it won’t work, I would definitely reach out to Pit Boss! The surfaces have a 2 year warranty. Hope this helps fam!!
My customer service experience from Pit Boss has been quite the contrary. I put in a warranty claim for my replacement 5 burner ceramic top on May 1, 2023. I still don't have my replacement top 3.5 months later. Everytime I contact their customer service they give me the runaround and tell me they don't know when my replacement top will be sent to me. I checked out their Better Business Bureau ratings and they get a new complaint every day due to their terrible service. I now regret buying a Pit Boss product and will never purchase another product from them again. For those of you trying to decide between Pit Boss or Blackstone. Go with the Blackstone!!!
Well, that's great that they honored their 2-year warranty but what happens after two years? You're stuck with a griddle top that is peeling or you pay out of your own pocket. I'm in the market today and I'm leaning toward Pit Boss but this isn't helping.
I have owned my steel blackstone grills for over 4 years and still cooking strong. Gor both during black friday sales and still cooks like day one. The ceramic surfaces will waer out and the grill is basically a throw away at that time. Can't i.agune a new ceramic top purchased, outside of the short 2 year warranty, costs less then $300 shipped.
Thanks for watching and for the input. We were very hard on these units intentionally. With our experience now, we feel these will last more than a few years easy. We appreciate you for sure, but it seems most of the criticism is only coming from our Blackstone peeps, those who have the PIt Boss units are nothing short of impressed and happy. Cheers brother!🤙🤙
@@lafrod agreed, with our overall experience with other brands as well, is that the surface is one part, but we’ve seen other parts of the unit that fail and need to be replaced. We for sure agree that the rolled steel by nature lasts longer, but like cast iron cookware that lasts forever, we have it, but don’t often use it. We loved the rolled steel and have actually requested a deluxe from Pit Boss to still be able to use both. We absolutely respect and love that you stick with the Blackstone, they are great units!🤙🤙
can it? mine is scratched up, takes ages to clean, has to have loads of oil and spray to get going which adds calories, long clean up, etc. essentialy like a gigantic cast iron pan with all the negatives.
Haha! Great to see you brother! We love it all, and actually ordered a deluxe unit (rolled steel) so we can continue to share cooks from both - we love these Ultimate units though too!! Take care and GRIDDLE ON INDEED!!🔥🔥
@@katstutrakatsturatorren if you’re is scratched up, then you didn’t season it properly. Men is slick as glass and stays coated black and glossy. If you’re using loads of oil or spray, there’s your first mistakes. The Blackstone performs great with only enough oil to coat the surface, and, ya gotta remember, there are differences in oils. Some are high temp, and some aren’t. I only use either olive oil or flaxseed oil on my griddle, and I don’t let the surface totally cool down or get cold to clean it either. If you clean your griddle when it’s barely warm, or hot enough to touch with your hand, clean-up is a breeze! Happy gridding...
@@onlyychevys Too be fair most people wont use theirs nearly as often so instead of lasting a year they will get 3-4 years out of it. And then they buy a replacement top for less than a new unit. Though this is exactly why I went with a Blackstone. While its not the only thing I will cook on I do try to cook outdoors every night, so it its not my grill, smoker or pizza oven its the griddle.
None if these are cast iron. They are rolled steel hot or cold depending on brand, PB has a ceramic coating. The others are seasoned and maintained similar to how you would maintain cast iron.
Nope, we agree. The same way cast iron cookware outlasts anything else in the kitchen. We do feel though that these will last for several years with normal use. Very impressive!🤙🤙. Cheers brother!
Well, okay! As I expected, the reality of owning any type of Cooking device, with any type of Non-Stick Surface…that cooking surface is going to wear out and fail. I knew you guys would be up front about it, because you’re both genuine, Stand Up Guys. And, of course, Pit Boss is going to be right on it, replacing their Top Influencer’s Griddle Tops, promptly. Hopefully, Pit Boss is just as quick and hassle free, with Average Joe Pit Boss Owners, too. I am thinking it’s maybe been a year or less of use, too. And, I don’t think you guys are using your Griddles any more, than any other Griddle cooking fan. I easily have more than 200 cooks, on each of my BlackStone Griddles, because I cook on them, at least once a day, except on the most brutally cold days, of Winter. It’s particularly disappointing to see Rust showing up, on the non-stick surface, too. I always thought that might be an advantage, of the non-stick surface, over the Steel BlackStone Surface, especially in a damp environment, along the Coast. But, obviously, that’s not true, either. You guys are still the Top Griddle Guys, in my book. Keep rocking the awesome Videos and Recipes. And, Pit Boss is certainly treating you right, with lots of awesome Products, for you to showcase, for them. I’ll happily stick with my BlackStone Griddles, though.
For sure the biggest concern with sharing a video like this was knowing the criticism we’d face. Oddly enough, not one Pit Boss owner has jumped it to refute our experience or issues, but from our Blackstone peeps (who we absolutely love of course!😂) who are still skeptical - we accept it all though for sure! Our biggest takeaway is that we still love it all. The ceramic units have proven to be very durable - we wanted to be transparent about these units - my Sierra is a prototype unit and still kicking (I have the replacement top, but haven’t changed it out yet). Brett also has a Sierra unit with over 100 cooks that looks just as it did on day one. I also requested a deluxe unit (Pit Boss’s rolled steel unit) and can’t wait to unbox and share cooks from it too! After a year of getting to best these up, we are confident that over time, they’ll get better and better. We have spoken with many Pit Boss owners, recognizing that we do have a relationship with Pit Boss, and we only shared this video because so many owners have either had no issues at all with their griddle, or Pit Boss customer service has been stellar. We know it isn’t the case all the time, but overwhelmingly it is the case. We appreciate the love brother, and we’ll keep cranking out the cooks!! Take care and GRIDDLE ON!🔥🔥
I’ve owned a total of 8 Pit Boss smokers. I’ll say from experience that Pit Boss customer service can be great. But it can also be terrible. Up until about a year ago they used to promptly answer any questions, send out replacement parts without a hassle, and were quick to escalate an issue if necessary. Over the past year I’ve been treated terribly any time I contact them, and I never receive the call backs I’m told to expect. They are also blatantly lying in several of their advertisements now as well, which is upsetting to see. I used to be a big Pit Boss supporter (which is evident by how much money I’ve invested in them) but they’ve lost their ways recently.
@@CDW188 tough to hear for sure. We discussed at length some of the issues with our contacts at PB that we’ve heard from people, and the consensus is that the last 2 years have seen more ups and downs for every company across the board without question. Shillong issues notwithstanding, everyone has seen a huge uptick in complaints. That said, even PB has not been exempt from the issues. Our hope is that everyone experiences the same care that we did. Take care!🔥🔥.
@@waltwins I agree it’s been a tough time for a lot of companies. But my experiences haven’t gotten any better over the last two years, and they’ve even deleted comments on their UA-cam channel that were pointing out these flaws. That’s not a company I want to support anymore. When you make a mistake, you own up to it. Not cover it up. And they comment on negative reviews saying they’ll take care of an issue for a customer, but then don’t follow through when the customer reaches out. These are issues from the top down.
My concern is that there is no way I will be cooking as much as the Waltwins do and the 2 year warranty period will be gone and then and only then will the Pitt Boss start nosediving. :)
It's great that Pit Boss stands behind rheir products however it is very discoiraging that both you and the Flat Top King had to replace this top. Makes me pausè about the pit Boss and i was hyped aboit getting one until i saw this video along with the Flat Top King's video as well. 🤔
Thank you so much for watching and for the feedback - I think the purpose was to show that these tops can take a beating and that Pit Boss does stand behind their products - one thing we did mention that was maybe lost, Neal (the Flat Top King) also points out, both the 5 burner here and Neal’s 4 burner has metal utensils used extensively. Brett also has a Sierra unit with well over 100 cooks and the unit looks as new as it did before the first cook. We think there may be been some rough batches that went through, and we’re hopeful that the surfaces now are much more durable. That said, we’ll definitely keep cooking and still share our honest thoughts! Take care fam!🔥🔥
Unbelievable..my griddle top has dimples from welds underneath plus coating flakes off in my hand on outter front edge and it's brand new, never used !!
Thank you so much for watching - for sure, but they are also very expensive. We appreciate the option of the ceramic, but overall, we just love griddle cooking! Cheers!🤙🤙
@@waltwins sorry i must have missed it. was the reason mis-use? if so, could u give us a video on what steps to make not to mis-use it? also i see on some griddles people pu a metal top over something to essentially boil something. on the ceramric top i assume thats not a good idea. any reccomendations on what we could use instead which is safe with he top?
@@katstutrakatsturatorren when we first got these units, we were very worried that we would scratch them easily. We learned that the ceramic is very durable - metal on the surface is totally fine, and we use our metal basting dome and pots/pans regularly. We just don’t slide them around. It’s using metal utensils to scrap up food that was an issue. With nylon, wooden, and silicone tools, we have had no issues with the surface. It’s interesting, because we do know some owners who only use metal and still have no issues. That said, we still err on the side of caution with regards to metal. Hope this helps some what!🔥🔥
Issues with two of your pit boss griddle tops, both replaced and issues with one hood and took it off. For the price, I would not be purchasing the Pitt Boss griddle and have all those problems. We are all hard on our griddles...scraping, cooking, cutting, high heat...not really an excuse for the issues with these griddles.
The one unit with the hood was a prototype, something we’ve addressed in previous videos, and is also the same unit with 200 cooks and were exceptionally rough by design to give feedback to Pit Boss (the hood is a different material - no other unit’s hood has rusted). We have two other units with zero issues. We just wanted to be transparent. Not excuses at all, we’ll gladly keep using them. Overall, we love all of the griddles, rolled steel and ceramic, and will keep sharing the love of cooking. Take care brother!🤙🤙
We don't buy nonstick for our kitchen, they don't last. Sorry but Pit Boss dropped the ball on the griddle. I am going to buy their pellet smoker though.
No worries - we don’t feel they dropped the ball at all. We love the ceramic tops, and the issues we have had we don’t believe will be the norm. We recognize some things we need to do different, just like when we first leaned to cook on a Blackstone - it was much different from our indoor electric griddle we had been using. This won’t be for everyone, but we do love it. Cheers fam!🤙🤙🤙
Black Stone all the way for me, you are cooking with a big nonstick skillet that wears out fast. Glad you like it! to each their own. Thanks for sharing!
Thank you for watching fam! We get it, and for sure love it all! Take care and GRIDDLE ON!🔥🔥
You can get it in rolled steel
Good ol' Blackstone iron griddle is still tops , in my opinion ..
Tha sis for watching brother, having cooked on both, we can say we love them all. Cheers!🤙🤙
Have you seen the new Weber griddles yet!?!? Wow!
Awesome!!! We have found that cooking on low is best for these units… thank you so much for watching! Griddle on!!!😁❤️🤙
Glad to hear their customer service is so excellent!
I agree that you should go with what ever allows you and your brother to cook the most food and sponsor you I just wish I could see you cook on the blackstone cause I started watching when I got mine.
Glad they hooked you up fellas. More cooks to come . Cheers and Griddle

@@louismaniscalco1389oh gotcha, yes, sounds like you did it all correct! It could be the avocado oil, not sure why, but maybe. Keep us posted though!
I’ve got 400+ cooks on my 22” Blackstone, and it still looks brand new! I cook lots of stuff to that’s different. Burgers to breakfast and Mexican dishes, and it performs like a champ!
doubt it looks new. I've seen plenty of blackstones and they all look gross.
Take care and GRIDDLE ON!🔥🔥
@katstutra katsturatorren Steele tops if maintained, like the ceramic coating, will last and look forever.
@@katstutrakatsturatorren mine is clean as a pin! Doubt all ya like, it’s all in how you take care of your stuff!
@katstutra katsturatorren maybe you just have a bunch of dirty friends..🤣🤣🤣
'smash' ... ;)
Haha! Thank you so much Edward! We are so thankful for your support brother! Done ever hesitate to reach out! Griddle on!!!😁❤️🤙
Great information guys. You took away my worries about purchasing the ceramic from Pit Boss. Thank you Brian
Thank you for watching fam! Here is the customer care number!

Good luck!!🔥🔥
Cooke big breakfast the other night, LOVE the easy cleanup as compared to BS. Just sold my Adventure ready 22” BS to a happy new owner this morning! Now my Blackstone culinary pro 1901 is up for sale. Pitboss is easier!
Have you had issues with the lights in your knobs?? 4 out of 5 of mine do not light anymore😢
The great thing about these units is that each peg on the surface is adjustable - we just hadn’t adjusted them for Brett’s sidewalk.🤙🤙
Hello Melissa! I just saw you got our message through messenger. Let us know if you ever have questions!🔥🔥🤙🤙
Hi Melissa! You can email us at adamandbrettw@gmail.com. 😁
They really have killer service. If anything goes wrong they take care of it.
Love the videos guys. What surface temps do you see on your griddle on the high setting? Curious if mine is running cold. Cheers!
Hey guys I know this is a little off topic but I cant find any info on the PB website. Where exactly is the serial number on the Sierra so I can register my unit? Thanks for convincing me to buy it, first cook is TODAY!!!

Is there a rolled steel top you can buy for the pit boss so you can interchange them? Ceramic and Steel?
All nonstick wears I’ll stick with my black stone, nothing against Pitt boss👍
No worries brother, thank you for watching!🔥🔥
Definitely agree.
I bought a 3 burner pit boss and I haven't noticed any changes in the griddle top however I haven't cooked as much as you guys have should I be expecting needing to replace the cook top after a period of time or did you get a bad cook top?
Hey fam! Nope! We were really running our unit through the ringer - we expect our surface to last several years!!🔥🔥
Good information as self help direction...
May I ask a question do I oil the flat top after cleaning or leave dry
Hey fam! For the ceramic, you don’t need to oil after cleaning. I have the deluxe model and found they have the same directions for both, but the oil should be just for the steel units, not ceramic. Hope this helps!
I bet we wouldn’t get that kind of warranty service over here in the UK, great video though guys👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻😎🏴
Getting my 4 burner Ultimate next month, assuming my local Lowes has it in stock. Looking forward to trying some of your ideas.
I feel yall, get that check, but I'll stick with Blackstone.
No worries brother, we appreciate you watching! Take care and GRIDDLE ON!🔥🔥
I’ve been thinking of getting a Griddle, but if I would have to get a new top every few years that’s not really a selling point for me.
So we not supposed to put a thin layer of oil after cook and clean? The manual says to put oil to protect it between cooks.
Hope this helps, thank you for watching!
is pitboss the only griddle avail with a ceramic cooking surface?
yeah
New cook tops..... Just in time for when I come to FL next month 😂

I’ll have to take your word for it, I love my 2 Blackstone’s.
For sure brother, we love it all! Much love, GRIDDLE ON!🔥🔥
@@waltwins I think once I wear out the Blackstone I'll get me a Pitboss.

Lol! Wait…. We don’t get it..😂😳
You are pitching for PB, does anyone think they would have actually had an issue getting a new top from PB under warranty?
At that price point I would say it doesn't make it all that great.
That is one lucky GRILL-TOP. It is going to taste some of the most DELISH food South of the North Pole. 😁
How much are replacement ceramic tops?
Those raised areas from the rivets will wear through.
We haven’t had any issues at all. We’ve seen the same on steel units as well. Cheers!🔥🔥
Great.
Stand correct $199 from pb for the 4 burner top, not including shipping.
@WALTWINS the point is still that the non stick will fade and a new one will need to be purchased. With steel stops they live a whole lot longer.
@@waltwins does the deluxe offer rolled steel and normal?
I think I messed mines up by putting oil on it after cleaning. My new one coming in tomorrow I’m not doing that.
Ditch this Pit Boss! The Blackstone griddle never wears out and can handle any abuse in cooking! Griddle on guys! ❤
can it? mine is scratched up, takes ages to clean, has to have loads of oil and spray to get going which adds calories, long clean up, etc.
essentialy like a gigantic cast iron pan with all the negatives.
I doubt I will ever do a non-stick surface. I don't use non-stick pans. The non-stick always wares off. That is just me.
Understood fam! For sure it’s a preference thing, these won’t be for everyone, that’s for sure! Much love Kay!!
Why does cast iron have a “surface”? Or are PB griddle tops made of some other materials?
PB has ceramic coating. Most other griddles have raw steel griddles that you season creating a “surface” on the steel
They are made like a nonstick skillet and wear out the coating. Cast iron don't just wear out.
This has me a little worried, just ordered one, if I am going to have issues after a year that is a problem after spending 700 bucks
Enamel cooktops will never outlast cast iron
If it comes down to it, couldn't the ceramic be removed to reveal an ordinary steel surface?
SO what did you do with the old griddle tops??? How did you dispose of them? 😁
We still have them. We might try to use them for shelving or something… repurpose them.😁❤️🤙
@@waltwins 😁
Any type of coating will eventually fail - sooner than later. This why professional griddles are stainless steel.
Thank you so much for watching - for sure, but they are also very expensive. We appreciate the option of the ceramic, but overall, we just love griddle cooking! Cheers!🤙🤙
so basically the griddle top wore out so its not a good product??
Interesting that this is your takeaway - we explained at length the reason for it. We love the ceramic tops and will gladly recommend them. Cheers🤙🤙
Seems like a commercial for why not to buy these things. Peeling, rust and scratches. It's why professional cooks don't use tephlon pans.
Thanks for watching and your input. Cheers.🤙🤙
I like these videos, it makes me glad I didnt buy this griddle.
Thanks for watching. Cheers.
I bought the 36-inch Blackstone, I'm too rough with my tools to own a non-stick. 🫕
We love it all - thanks for watching fam 🤙🤙
