David Sylvian/Ryuichi Sakamoto: Forbidden Colours EP

- Опубліковано 14 жов 2024
- The Forbidden Colours EP/single was a collaborative release from the multi-instrumentalist and Japan frontman, David Sylvian; and the composer and keyboardist of Yellow Magic Orchestra, Ryuichi Sakamoto. The title track was originally composed by Sakamoto as part of the score for the 1983 World War II film, 'Merry Christmas, Mr. Lawrence', with Sylvian providing vocals for the song. After the break-up of Japan, David Sylvian also collaborated with Sakamoto for his first single, 'Bamboo Music'; which also featured a B-side re-working of the song, titled, 'Bamboo Houses'.
This is essentially a compilation of the beginnings of Sylvian's solo career, prior to the recording of his 1984 debut album, 'Brilliant Trees'. For this reason - and also that these songs are fantastic on their own terms - I wanted to upload the EP collection of the three songs, in the hope that fans of the two artists may discover a new song through listening to this.
Track List:
1. Forbidden Colours (0:00)
2. Bamboo Music (4:46)
3. Bamboo Houses (10:28)
Rest in Peace, Mr. Sakamoto. You will be forever in my heart
You knew how to leave with the magnitude of a myth, your work will endure beyond time.
My new favorite album ❤ Just amazing 🌻
Possibly one of the best EP/singles. Rip Ryuichi Sakamoto.
Ryuichi Sakamoto, Forever & Always the Most Phenomenal Composer/Musician. I have admired your artistry since the age of 14. I am now 52 yrs of age. The Most ECLECTIC Composer in the World. ( The most heartbreaking news.) 🌻🙏😔
"Here am I, a lifetime away from you." Gets me every time.
My eyes feel on this comment just as he sang these words, which just adds to the transcendence of this music.
Oh my heart!
Cant believe I just found this EP only recently. I had only heard his music with Japan. Forbidden Colours has become one of my favorite songs.
Check out Brilliant Trees, if you haven't already. Ryuichi plays on several cuts on that one as well. It's a masterpiece, imho.
The greatest Film and soundtrack ever
And very underrated.
Mi commuove vedere la gioventù di Sylvian e Sakamoto...
Yes, this ep came out around 85. Sakamoto was a hip-hop vanguard.
Could NOT share Ryuichi Sakamoto's magnificent score for the 1983 movie "Merry Christmas Mr Lawrence" that was shared by his Account on Facebook, without sharing this heart wrenchingly beautiful song from the movie -- AND one of my ALL TIME Favourite songs -- Sung by David Sylvian & written by genius Ryuichi Sakamoto which is a key part of the movie! Thanks for sharing it here on YT!
The wounds on your hands never seem to heal
I thought all I needed was to believe
Here am I, a lifetime away from you
The blood of Christ, or the beat of my heart
My love wears forbidden colours
My life believes
Senseless years thunder by
Millions are willing to give their lives for you
Does nothing live on?
Learning to cope with feelings aroused in me
My hands in the soil, buried inside of myself
My love wears forbidden colours
My life believes in you once again
I`ll go walking in circles
While doubting the very ground beneath me
Trying to show unquestioning faith in everything
Here am I, a lifetime away from you
The blood of Christ, or a change of heart
My love wears forbidden colours
My life believes
My love wears forbidden colours
My life believes in you once again
Thx allot 💖!
Three highly overlooked songs!! Sakamoto and Sylvian are both great, genius composers. The movie, Merry Christmas, Mr Lawrence is good too.
Thank you!
Magic forever!
alot of feeling in his voice
If this was the only thing either musician did it would guarantee them immortality
It was the offerings of this ancient wild world > to live, share, care, have fun and live together. Unfortunately, we were so focused on the change of times that we didn't have the time or the awareness to organize. However the spirit is still there, waiting to be recognized and made aware again and again until it is everywhere in elevation towards the Paradise of utopians and other unconscious dreamers🌠🕊
Very profound words :) I'm not sure if I fully understood what you mean but I think I got the general idea...when humanity is "awake" as in a higher collective conscious, where we all love one another
@@penelopemystline4389 Thank you Penelope, and very good evening to you! Inspiration is an unfaithful woman, she left me but I hope to find her again one day .... Or maybe one night 🌿
