I love your videos! Your work is fantastic and really opens the eyes of us to what has happened to these once beautiful places! I look forward to the next episode!
Smashed it yet again Seph, this is by far the best piece you've done to date in my opinion and that's with the bar set impossibly high by you already. I've said this a billion times on your other projects, but I'll say it again, thank you for sharing your vision and allowing us to see through your eyes, a phenomena we may never witness again in our lifetimes. And thank you for helping some of us relive our childhoods if just for a brief moment. 👏👏👏
What happened at this location is crime went up in the area and a certain group of people were to blame for businesses failing in the area due to their crimes. Then a white man murdered his wife in a parking lot of a restaurant outside the mall and blamed it on a black man. This was the knife in the back for all shopping in the area. It didn't take long for this mall and other businesses around it to shutter their doors. I live 5 minutes from this mall and though businesses still thrive, there still sits this empty mall, empty strip malls, shuttered restaurants, Walmart, Target, Best Buy, Toys R Us all sit empty. This is the only mall in the area to have failed because people no longer wanted to come to this part of town. Three others in the area are still doing well and two more outside the area have opened or expanded in recent years.
This looks a lot like Northridge, an abandoned mall on the northern most edge of Milwaukee. It used to be a really nice place. I came here a lot as a kid, and even had to work a few projects here as an adult. It's hard to believe it just sits there in decay.
CherryVale Mall in Rockford, IL was where my husband and I had out first date. For years we would go back every December 2, the original date we went there, as anniversary of sorts, but by the early 2000's it wasn't safe anymore. There used to be a quite little spot under the escalators where we would sit, sip our coffee and just people watch. But when girls started to get grabbed and assaulted, the bricked those areas off. Eventually they took out the whole escalator system for a giant elevator. The Mall still exists of sorts. But it really isn't safe to go to any longer. It breaks my heart, because I loved that place.
I got the abandond mall book. The new one. Its awesome. I just wish it had more info on some of the pics. Other than that well done. I had to buy 2 copies. Lmao one for home and one for work. Needless to say you got new fans. ;)
I really admire all of your work. It is truly inspirational and if you have any recommendations for the Chicagoland area or northwest burbs please feel free to DM me!
When i was young we’d go to parma town all the time, Once in a while the terminal tower, now all we really have is beachwood and southpark which i go to southpark once in a while but much rather go on amazon, never got inside north randall and went to the one in euclid last week but theyre demoing or repoing it so i couldnt get in, i was in rolling acres tho when it was abandoned partially demoed and that was amazing, great video seph
@@jimmyfaustjr6413 No they won't, they're now products of a long bygone era that no longer exists and especially with this current pandemic going on the chances are even much slimmer now than before.
@@jimmyfaustjr6413 Ummm...you realize the the 80s/90s are not coming back especially alot of these old school malls built around that era are being torn down or had been torn down or some of them left to rot and abandoned? Plus Online shopping is replacing everything now.
I think luxury malls will continue to exist. Stores that carry ordinary consumer goods will be in danger, especially price and convenience are paramount
Thank you all info will be in my new published book which will be all abandoned malls. No one has ever documented more abandoned malls than me. Now that so many are demolished I’ll go down in history as the one and only ✌🏼
I remember that mall-Northridge Mall in Milwaukee when it was a busy place. I also remember the Northwest Side of Milwaukee In 20 years, my God what happened to that place. And from what I can see, the people running Milwaukee could give a shit
@@iiplaya true. Malls with little to no security. If a mall had good security safety wouldnt be an issue. I miss the Granite Run Mall in Media Pa. They had pretty good security.
One thing Amazon cant offer you is the mall experience. There are no more actual Amazon stores that Ive seen. Its all online. Which is sad. I still go to Springfield mall. The only mall I have by me. I take 2 buses to get there but its worth it.
We're I live we have a nice Schoppingmall I love to go, you see people ho have bot some things I love to feel and see what I buy I love the feeling of walking home whit a plastic bag. I love to go to the mall AL the stores you need unther 1 roof
Very end, still no mall name :/ I suppose it's the Any Mall. The Our Mall. The USA Mall. The History Mall. The Every Mall. It doesn't need a name or location because if you/we lived it, that Mall IS us. That's what came to my mind immediately after my first sentence of this reply. Doesn't matter where it is because it's in those of us who lived it.
Only except the decline of Shopping Malls are a dire warning and foreshadowing of what the US is about to become or rather follow suit in the near future.
By far...so many people like him walk around dying malls that are still open that’s a huge difference. For instance, Dan who is a friend was inspired by me to go to Rolling Acres even says it in his video but he’s the best at doing dying malls by far. I’m known globally for documenting truly abandoned malls. Most of Dan’s and others are still open for business. Good riddance to the malls and the lifestyle of excessive consumption that they represent, the excessive land that they consume, with their sprawling parking areas and concrete. But, it would be very sad if they are replaced by a single monopoly company. There are better ways to socialise and meet people than shopping.
I really love the videos where you talk. This one is fantastic. The silent ones aren't informative like this one. Really awesome. Thanks Seph!!

Hi Seph. Which Dead mall was your biggest highlights & why?
All that shattered glass reminds me of what Rolling Acres looked like when it sat abandoned... :(
It's like Pompeii and Herculaneum, there's evidence of life once lived.
where is this?
hey what really happened to this mall ? when was the last time it was used ?

Reminds me of that scene from Inception when DiCaprio was telling Ellen Page about the dream world he shared with Mal. It was all in ruins.
