I’ve loved these cars since my friend had a low mileage 3 year old example. At the time, it was by far the nicest road trip car I had the pleasure of riding in. So smooth and quiet you could hear a pin drop. I bought my ‘96 1UZ last year on a whim. I just had this feeling they were on the verge of gaining popularity with the Supra selling at FU money. Then one night, I woke up for a midnight snack and started a random eBay search. And there it was. So cheap I thought it had to be a scam. Royal Jade Pearl gold package, rust free Southern California car, lowered, nice wheels and cleeeaaaaan. I sent the seller a message and he responded immediately and confirmed it was the correct price. I pulled the trigger within minutes and 3 weeks later it arrived at 2 o’clock in the morning on a car hauler. The seller had just installed brand new Tein coilovers the month before I bought it. He claimed the wheels were “just OEM Lexus wheels from a GS300”. I could not find any GS online with the wheels until recently. To my surprise, they’re rare OEM OZ Super Turismos from the Lexus short lived L-Tuned performance division. I don’t condone buying one based on wheels and stance. Those things are relatively inexpensive. First and foremost, have a budget. Then buy the cleanest example you can find from a rust free part of the country. They’re old and you will have to turn a wrench at some point. They all suffer from the same common problems. Door sag, cracked plastic interior pieces, leaking power steering hose, burnt out dash lights and climate control units, cracked upper door trim , torn leather seats and lower control arms. Find one where these issues have been fixed already. Even with 225k my 1UZ still passes the champagne glass on top of the engine test from the original television ad.
I love my y2k 300. Never going to sell, never going to be without an sc. People who know nothing about these cars are missing out. They're expensive to mod right, but worth the price if done up correctly
So glad I kept the twins on my soarer after watching this, they're so responsive and power delivery is awesome with the twins !... I just had them rebuilt with steel internals

1jzgte non vvti had stock twins from factory, but the 1jzgte vvti came with single turbo, that 1jz looks like the non vvti since it doesn't have that hump on the front of the cam cover
I had an imported 93 soarer with the twins, got taken out on i75 in it, and it was a very sad day. such a comfortable car and smooth acceleration. one thing that always gets me is when people use the different soarer badge because it's easier to acquire. the gold wing lion is from the 1uz versions (sc400) while the red ones are from the 1jzgte (sc300....250?).
I have a sweet spot in my heart for these cars. A buddy of mine had a white SC300 na-t build in high school. That car pulled on SOOOO MANY cars when we drove around. The car in this video looks like a very cool build. It sounds great and 400+ rwhp makes for an awesome street car. What the hell is going on with that interior though? Come on man, the bride seats(it's a street car), no door panels, and that blue dildo steering wheel? Besides that and the stance I think your a few thousand dollars away from a truly epic car.
Good video bro! I love your videos, I can sit and watch them on shuffle throughout my work shift lol! Super good quality and A1 knowledge! Keep em coming bro!
Ok, great vid but need to address a few things: 1) You keep calling the car heavy compared to a Supra, heavy in general and refer to it as an "Orca" (lol) but do you actually have any idea what the car weighs? Supra Turbo curb weight = 3,285 - 3,461lbs. The higher end of that being the targa's which most Supra turbo's in the US were. Curb weight of an SC300 with the W58? 3,485lbs. Now keep in mind too that's with the SC300's massively heavy power driver and passenger seats. With the Brides that this driver has in place the car probably tips the scales lighter than most bone-stock turbo-targa Supra's and roughly the same as a current gen Golf R. 2) You say that stock the SC300 was ugly, but Soarer's looked good? Stock, they're visually identical w/ the exception of some badging. This car just has an aftermarket front lip (plus obviously dropped w/ rims). 3) You crap on the 2JZ-GE, praise the 1JZ-GTE. I agree, it would have been nice to have been able to buy a SC300 with the 1JZ in it from Lexus. Yet for the time and money this guy spent buying and swapping a 1JZ, then singling it, he could have just single-turbo'd the 2JZ and hooked it up to a 2JZ-GTE ECU and had a wwaayyyyyy better setup. I've got this done on mine. With the extra .5L of displacement, 10:1 compression and the dual-runner intake manifold lag is absolutely minimal and the power band is very very broad. At 14psi on a 61mm turbo it had absolutely no issue spinning my 325 rear tyres on 13" rims through 1st, 2nd, and most of 3rd. (I've since dropped the boost down to 8psi because I don't want to grenade my W58 before I have a replacement ready. But also a part of me really, really doesn't want to let the W58 go as it's such a sweet trans. Lightweight, and if you think this shifts nice - the W58 with the TRD shifter is shifting bliss I haven't ever felt replicated on any other platform before. Miles ahead of a V160-161 in terms of feel).
I have an SC. Most slept on car ever. I always wanted one, but had no idea that they were sister cars to the MKIV Supra until after I bought mine. Then, I felt like I won the freakin' lottery! Hahaha. I've got Supra TT coilovers on mine. Everything from the Supra just bolts right on, with no modification necessary...because under the skin, it's the SAME CAR!
