Problem with dino crisis is that it does not have an identity of its own,people who like 1 dont like 2 and vice versa,very different games en 3 is another game all together.

What's funny is that Dino Crisis probably would've been able to transition to the "breakneck action and spectacle" style better than Resident Evil did in later titles

As a kid who loved horror and dinosaurs, Dino Crisis was one of my favorite franchises of all time. I was beyond saddened to see its downfall. It had so much potential :(

Great video! Interest fact about Shu Takumi: he was also originally the director of Dino Crisis 1. However he was still very green at the time and the game ran into development issues under his leadership so Shinji Mikami was brought on to get the project back on track. Takumi was given a second chance at directing with Dino Crisis 2 and the success of that title lead to Capcom giving him the okay to start the project that would become Ace Attorney. Fun stuff.

@Grima the Fell Dragon Yes, there was. The game was shipped out incomplete and buggy. For example, the ending and credits don't play when you beat the Story Mode.

Oh yes the third entry that was so mindboggingly separate from it's previous installments that left me wondering if I somehow missed several games inbetween 2 and 3 at the time.

Considering how Capcom has been going back to older franchises, it would be nice for them to go back to Dino Crisis.
A part of me believes the Onimusha 1 HD Remaster was them testing the waters for a new Onimusha. It would be nice to have that game and Dino Crisis be remade with the RE Engine.

I just heard recently Capcom is pulling the plug on Onimusha which makes me so sad. RIP Onimusha and Dino Crisis.

@@louiscypher4996 It wasn't confirmed by Capcom but there was a rumor a few months ago that Onimusha Warlords (the remaster of the first game) sold so poorly that Capcom had cancelled the remasters of Onimusha 2 and 3. And this effectively put the series on ice.

Yeah, these first concepts for Dino Crisis 3 sound a lot like Exoprimal. Which makes sense, I guess, given the people involved.
I always loved Dino Stalker, and it did kind of bring to life the ORIGINAL Dino Crisis 3, by having Dinosaurs out of their era, rampaging through the city. Your main character is even a dude from WW2! It was pretty cool, definitely worth a play if you like Dinosaur, but doesn't hold a candle to the originals. COME ON CAPCOM YOU COWARDS! GIVE US A REMAKE!

so far all im seeing with some of these gaming companies is
"ok we got a moderately successful IP going...its not as popular as our flagships but its doing ok.....whats that? one title didnt really do well? ok scrap the whole series and never touch it again"
And it's hilarious how I feel like...MOST of those games have things in them that do work or people find cool. Few games have nothing going for them. So instead of figuring out what worked and maybe applying it to later games...its like..nope. Down it all!
When I was a kid I generally thought they were making their 3 main franchises exclusive to the 3 main consoles, resi for nintendo, dmc for ps and dino for xbox.
They treated darkstalkers the same way, although one difference is that darkstalkers had a good 3rd game.

I remember when my sister found Dino Crisis 3 at Blockbuster. She borrowed my Xbox to play it and returned it along with the game later that night.

One game I feel like a lot of people don’t know about, is Destroy All Humans: Path Of The Furon. The series has an amazing remake now but holy jeez, I have to know Wha Happun to this one
Dino Crisis 2 was my first all-nighter, spending hours hunting for those key cards while fighting off compies. The arena mode was also pretty neat, and got me into other dino themed games.
It's a crying shame the series stopped there. Dino Crisis 3 would have been amazing.

My grandma, rest in piece, bought me DC3 when it came out and man oh man did I love it. I haven’t played it since around that time so I have no idea if it holds up or not, but I seriously thought that game was so much fun when I was young. I would love to see a return of the series.

@@paperluigi6132 So the tall tale that gets thrown around is that there was going to be 6 games and then the dev team got told as they started work on three that the game's budget was getting sliced in half and it would be the last one. Scripts where hasitily rewritten and mass amounts of plot erased.
Not sure how much truth is in that though.
Assuming it is all true, it might just be as simple as "2 didnt sell what we wanted and we already paid in for 3, so give us something and we'll wash our hands from this project"
Sadly capcom want to keep milking RE to oblivion instead of using this new engine to make a remake of Dino Crisis 1.
What happened is that Capcom for some reason abandoned PlayStation, which was the home of the series. What also happened is that the game completely abandoned the ending to DC2 and Regina and Dylan. What also happened that DC1 looked like a high-end title with care put into it. DC2 looked like a high-end title with care put into it. Both were really fun and enjoyable and both made great use of the environments, the abandoned base, the jungle. It felt right for the series.
Basically, DC3 looks like a completely random shooter in space where someone just put dinosaurs and tacked on the Dino Crisis name. It wasn't even remotely true to the series, its origins, gameplay, etc.
It's really weird, it's like Capcom was obliged to put out some DC game, so they did, but they didn't want to and no one cared.

Capcom: “Hey let’s completely change everything about our new Dino Crisis game (even though we ended the previous one on a cliffhanger) that flies in the face of common sense.”
Also Capcom: “What do you mean no one bought it? Welp, guess that means people don’t like Dino Crisis anymore, better kill the franchise.”
Good video, looking back I can recall Dino Crisis 3 for several things:
"Did I miss something inbetween?"
"Nice fast movement, but terrible camera decisions, shooting at offscreen enemies in an action setting doesn't work well"
"Claire in space? The Redfield bloodline continues!"
God, I wish they have continued with the original plan.
Baten Kaitos and its prequel are two wonderful games that came out at the end of the lifespan of the Gamecube.
There's a reference in Smash Ultimate, but appart from that, no one remembers those godly titles.

Dino Crisis is unironically my favorite PS1 game.
I'm always thinking of the positives some folks saw in RE6's combat system, and how that would've been a great starting point for an actual Dino Crisis 3. What a shame...
I have to admit, I love the monster design in this game. I wish they used for a better game.
Stop Skeletons from Fighting’s summation "Not bad, but tragic" is the key to the nature of this game. It does get better as you increase your life with extinction points (the only truly important upgrade) and the bosses get epic real quick!
Perhaps most importantly, there are respawning points (with extremely easy enemies) so ultimately the game is only as hard as you want it to be. And I've beaten Wheel of Fortune mode...
So Exoprimal was, indeed, the original pitch for Dino 3. Interesting!
When I was a kid I actually really enjoyed the game. I loved the metroid series and I saw this as some sort of metroid game for the xbox. You know a semi open sci-fi world with upgrades you need to collect to access new areas fighting weird alien monsters.
The switching camera angles are a pain and don't work without tank controls, nowadays I probably won't enjoy it as much but I did like it back in the day.

@@lacasadelvideojuego3880 And with the shitty CG movie and the cancelled DLC episodes[screwing people out of getting to play as Lunafreya and development for her and other characters] there are problematic issues for FFXV. To its credit, it thankfully didn’t end up like Duke Nukem Fornever. Noctis was pretty cool, especially in his guest appearance in Tekken 7[though he felt like would’ve fit more with Soul Calibur but he was still fun]. And they had a pretty good anime prequel OVA short series. Plus the graphics and food looks way better than Cyberpunk which came out almost half a decade later. On the other hand, hope you love Cup Noodles product placement.

I do question if XIII-2 and XIII-3 have anymore to them besides "and then we let the intern write the plot and made money off of DLC outfits", though. Perhaps they do but I doubt it.
That ending just reminded me of Fossil Fighters, a old DS gane, then I proceeded to finish the first two games and didn’t touch the cursed third.
Honestly, gonna be controversial. real world events should not affect the development of a piece of media, even tragedies.
Whats the point in being sensitive when you had nothing to do with the events that occured. I understand that people dont want to touch raw nerves especially with stuff like that, but onus is on the people to not blame people who arent the perpetrators and assuming the worst.

How to make a Dino Crisis remake: Use the RE2 Remake template and add in dinosaurs
Naming the space station Ozymandias is appropriate. I know when I look upon Dino Crisis 3, I despair.
Last time I was this early, Dinos walked the earth.
The perfect time to bring Dino Crisis back would have been between the time of the Jurassic World films being in vogue. A new sequel would have been ideal, a remake of one of the first two would have been really good. Hell, simply a port to modern platforms if they wanted to put no effort into trying to catch people’s attention would have been better than the nothing they did…unless of course they use that as a false narrative to say people didn’t want a new entry because they didn’t support their half-ass efforts, so maybe the nothing they did may actually be better for the franchise in the long run.
A Dino Crisis game with the RE:7 engine would be pretty god damned cool. A Jurassic Park-like setting where it's dark, raining then you hear all kinds of rustling and growls BUT you can't see anything! That's survival horror!
What’s also depressing is that while it would have indeed been in poor taste to have ruined buildings in stuff for a while, it probably wouldn’t have been majorly offensive. I can’t even think of anything that was crucified over such depictions from that era. At worst, it was just people getting cancelled for not wanting to go to war (and yes, it very much affected people’s careers). A lot of studios (especially foreign ones) were just anticipating a lot of sensitivity that would affect sales that just never really happened. Or well, none that I can really recall.
