I was stuck when I took off my rear wheel to fix a puncture, I couldn't get it back on. I looked up this video on my mobile phone and following your instructions was easily able to fit it back on. Many thanks you saved me a 15K walk!
After the fact, I'm going to get tire levers for the next change (although the new rubbers were misshapen, so that will fix itself with time)...and still have to replace the rear wheel. Hence, I'm here. OMG. The brake caliper wire is tighter on this one, too.
Thank you. I've watched 30 videos before yours that either didn't zoom into the axle area at all (!?!) or were too fast and vague. God bless you, you deserve the best in life.
saved a noob from tears, could not see clearly enough in other vids to understand how to pull back the derailleur, spent two days putting it back together incorrectly, thank you !!!
Thank you! From all the videos I've watched, yours was the only one that taught me why I couldn't fit the wheel properly (it was the adjustment of the derailleur)
I've had to find a video every time I've done this to avoid forcing it in and this is the first time its actually helped, no heaps of information thats useless to the task at hand and explained thoroughly enough for someone with little bike maintenance experience can understand with ease.. Great video mate just earned a sub
Thank you so much! I got a flat in the middle of nowhere this weekend. I changed my inner tube no problem and then I got stuck. It was hot and I started to get frustrated because I couldn't remember how to get my tire back on. And literally every other video forgets to mention the spring loaded bit with the chain. You saved my sanity, I completely forgot about that. 😅
This is the best illustration I have seen, it seems to be easier to get the job done by flipping the bicycle upside down. I had tried to do it with the bicycle right side up without a repair stand, I had no luck.
thank you! my rear wheel FELL OFF last night when i was halfway home late at night! luckily a passerby knew how to do this! now i'm watching videos so i can understand it better. you made it look easy! thank you
You really saved me a lot of headache when building a new bike. The instructions didn't show how the chain should sit on the gears, and I was frustrated until flipping it as you suggested. Thank you man!! Heads up though, anyone doing this, just be careful the chain doesn't get tied up. Carefully lock the wheel in, and then carefully flip it back over. Fun learning experience! UA-cam FTW!
I just want to say this has been my emotional support video every time I remove my rear wheel haha. Really good tutorial helps me every time. Thank you!
Thank you a clear explanation that shows how it works. I've a watched a few videos and always struggled with this this because in other videos they just go "and then pop the wheel back in" without showing how it actually works.
Thanks so much for this tutorial. So many videos about changing inner-tubes and had to retype the search and still scroll to find this video. Saved me a long walk home.
This video was life saver. It was straight to the point, simple to follow, and also got me to school (albeit late cuz of a flat in the first place, lol).
I know it probably sounds completely crazy, with a 12-speed rear cassette I really could not get mine hooked up and mounted. Your trick of hooking it first then aligning it afterward made all the difference. Thank you! Brand new intense tazer BTW
Thank you so very much! I removed the rear wheel on my Huffy Sienna 7 speed, which sadly was necessary, in order to replace a fender, due to a small screw at the tail end that could not be reached with the tire in place, though naturally every other dang nut and bolt could be. It was after I replaced the fender and went to return the wheel that I realized... utoooh.... LOL So... thanks to you I was able to successfully reseat the rear wheel, in mere moments rather than hours of trial and error. :) Thanks again!
YES. i started watching a video last night when my wheel fell off when halfway home but some passerby helped me instead. today i'm watching videos so i'm not as helpless if it ever happens again!
I'm glad to hear that you're taking proactive steps to be prepared! It's always wise to learn something new, especially with unexpected situations like that.
This helped me. It's impossible to figure out without watching this. MAKE SURE you put the chain back on the gear it was already on when you took it off. Just put it on your highest gear (smallest cog) to make it easy.
Awesome thanks. My gf is bothering me to fix her bike, never done it before, this video helped me to be more competent and thankfully I dont look like a useless idiot. Thanks mate. She doesnt have to know I learnt it from youtube 😄
Honestly mate you saved my day. I was riding along and my back wheel just fell off 😭🤣 it was literally only because of this video I didn’t have to push my bike with 1 wheel and carry the other on my shoulder for 2 miles
i feel you! i had this happen to me last night!! some passerby helped thankfully (i had 2.5 mi uphill to go and at least 40lb on my back (groceries)). now i'm watching videos so i know how to do it if it ever happens again! i didn't know i had to check that the wheel locks were tight before riding. i never had that issue on my old trek bike (have a Nishiki Anasazi now)! i guess the tarmac is too bumpy where i live now and the vibration loosened them? otherwise whoever assembled it (new bike) didn't tighten them enough? i'm not sure, but def checking them every time i go now
It sounds like quite the adventure! It's always good to learn from experiences like these. Checking your bike before a ride can save you a lot of trouble down the road!
Brilliant short vid, quick, informative and to the point! This is exactly what I look for when looking I'm for instructions and guidance, well done mate 👍🏼👏🏼
Wow I'm 44 years of age and didn't have a clue how to do my boys bike back wheel lol I was going off my head found this video and it took 2 seconds bikes are different these days lol in the 80s they were just 2 nuts to do up lol thanks for video
I appreciate this as this video shows how to do it upside down while others have a whole contraption where it's right side up and hard to fallow on a upside bicycle
This video really helped and encouraged me to keep on going I was going to give and let my dad do it but then I saw this video and it really helped.I’m done now and it’s perfect great video👌
Thank you so much for this - after a long day of trail-riding I pulled my bike out of the car and off the wheel popped. 30 mins later I was stress crying about to throw the thing across the garage 😂 pulled your video up and 5 mins later it was back on!!
It sounds like you're having a tough time with the tune! Have you checked all the connections and ensured everything is calibrated correctly? Sometimes a little tweak can make all the difference.
I just got a new Specialized. This is not the first time I've ordered a bike by mail (some people are astounded when I tell them this). Again, not really an issue, but something to note. Anyway, I cannot for the life of me get the bolt aligned. The derailleur keeps pushing towards the brake calipers, so the rotor starts hitting the frame before it gets anywhere close to the calipers. I can't push towards the derailleur without bending it, and I shouldn't anyway. All my other wheels just roll right in like butter. I'm starting to think that the limit screws are not set correctly, or there is an alignment issue. Upon visual inspection it looks like it's aligned properly, but without a proper tool I can't tell for sure. Really disappointed in Specialized, which I thought was a reputable brand. Oh, I was also missing two stem bolts. I'm going to have to fork out another $200+ to get it properly assembled and tuned it looks like. Despite their claim that they ship their bikes adjusted and needing minimal assembly.
Thanks! My brother has always put my bike on the Wahoo Kicker and taken it off for me and now that he is in the army I was struggling 😬 Thanks for the video, you saved me a lot of stress! 👍

I just got a new Specialized. This is not the first time I've ordered a bike by mail (some people are astounded when I tell them this). Ironically I never had a problem with my GTs and they assembled like butter needing very little adjustment. Just a few tweaks to the limit screws is pretty much all that was required for the most part. All of my groupsets in the past have been 9x3, but at some point between my last bike and this trail bikes have started adopting the 8x2 groupset. That's not really an issue, but this is the first time I have encountered a this particular groupset. Also I've used Shimano indexers in the past, but this is my second Microshift. Again, not really an issue, but something to note. Anyway, I cannot for the life of me get the bolt aligned.
