Not all of this information is entirely accurate. 1) You can not wait a graboid out, in the first fillm it shows how patient they are. 2) How often does it rain in deserts? It never happened in the films or tv series. 3) They sense vibrations with the things they move with, which are more like small legs than spikes. I don't believe in real graboids, just wanted to correct this.
They also have a cold fusion process that gives them incredible strength and ultrasonic shrieks that powder the dirt in front of them. There is no other way to move through the ground. 10 feet of traveling underground without tunnels would take over 10,000 calories.
If there's any fictional species I would love to see in real life then that would be Graboids! Would be awesome to someday find that they actually are real though, they seem very plausible afterall, and I guess that's why I find them so fascinating.

I have seen these before in a documentary about ground tremors, they were largely responsible for seismic tremors had in areas exactly as you describe! there was a town that was being overrun by them & even killed some of the townsfolk there! I ALWAYS remain of pavement surfaces now after seeing that documentary.
