Not all of this information is entirely accurate. 1) You can not wait a graboid out, in the first fillm it shows how patient they are. 2) How often does it rain in deserts? It never happened in the films or tv series. 3) They sense vibrations with the things they move with, which are more like small legs than spikes. I have seen these before in a documentary about ground tremors, they were largely responsible for seismic tremors had in areas exactly as you describe! there was a town that was being overrun by them & even killed some of the townsfolk there! This video calls them reptiles but that isn't accurate. I recall from an official FAQ about the Tremors movies that graboids were not closely related to any other living animal. I guess that's to be expected of a Precambrian multicellular life form (which is kind of ridiculous anyway, given that there would not have been any prey animals in the Precambrian for them to feed on).
