“So, I bought the Quest 3, which came with Asgard’s Wrath 2. It’s a great game with well-polished mechanics, a nice story, etc., but it somehow did not hook me. Just yesterday, I gave Red Matter 2 a try, and holy cow, I was blown away! I was shocked by how good the game looks and how detailed it is. It felt like I was playing a PCVR title! So, if someone asks me what the best production game on Quest 3 is, I would say it’s Red Matter 2. My top three titles since I switched from Valve Index to Quest 3 are Red Matter 2, 7th Guest, and Max Mustard, followed by all-time favorites like Beat Saber, Synth Riders, and SmashDrums.”
Asgards Wrath 2 is phenomenal is just as good as half lyfe alyx just in different ways Red Matter 2 is definitely on my short list
I'd recommend Red Matter 2 to anyone with a Quest 3. I don't typically go for puzzlers but I really enjoyed it from start to finish.
Several times in the game, I just found myself stopping and looking around at the scenery with real "wow" moments. It felt like I was the main character in a 70/80s sci-fi film. The sound is great too and the story is intriguing.
Nice video. Thanks!
Larcenauts - still a great experience despite the disappointment
Yeah I was gonna say, the review on Larcenauts is extremely outdated. The issues with locomotion are a good warning for future games, but Larcenauts is genuinely a great game right now.
Nice work Matteo, you present a lot in a concise way - short and sweet. I don’t see fitness apps reviewed as a category or talked about much at all. It’s a significant market and you could have a unique video with this topic. It’s probably 70-80% of my Q3 usage and will likely drive new HMD variants with the new Meta Horizon OS. You look like a fit dude - do you use any fitness apps on Quest? Let’s see some fitness coverage please! 🙏🏼
Yeah actually I have a bunch of videos on the topic. I did a huge 100 day supernatural video
I think you're comment about the Quest 2 breaking VR industry wide open is right on the money. The made a simple, easy to use and relatively affordable stand-alone device that took the headache out of deciding whether or not to jump into VR.
NMS needs a mention. It's long lasting endless gameplay, visiting planets all over the various galaxies, and it's come a long way since its launch in 2016. Today it's well polished, got tons of missions and even more to discover. The downside is that you need a massive PC to enjoy it, and you need to use VR desktop to get the top framerates and clarity. On top of that you need a hefty Wifi if you want to use it wireless, but then again, it's def. one of the top AAA vr titles out there.
Helldivers in VR would be awesome, if you could avoid the motion sickness.
there's already a dizzier hell which is hellsweeper
He Will divers in VR sounds awesome
Hellsweeper doesn't give me motion sickness. When I flipped the first time, my feet came up and forward a little, but I guess I'm just fortunate.
Great job!
I loved MOH 😅. There's nothing else like it on the quest. I think i played it 3 times. I don't care about online.
"[AAsgard wrath 2] also had the significant obstacle of delivering on last generation mobile chipsets."
Except Sanzaru did NOT actually achieve this !
I played on Quest 2, and while I was very impressed in the begining, toward the end the game becomes unplayable. Fight with multiple enemy will run well below 60FPS without ASW. Wich you know is not manageable for 90% of VR players. I ended up droping the game in the last part purely because of those performance issues, it made me sick and made the fight really un-enjoyable.
And I must say I was a bit disapointed that this did not get much attention because it only becomes really problematic during the last third of the game, and every VR influencer and reviewer obviously played it on Quest 3.
So you can praise the game for all it's other qualities, it's deserved, it's a great game. But the only thing you can't say is that it managed to deliver a last gen chipset. That it did not.
Thanks!
"The Blue" was a pretty expensive acquisition on my HTC Vive. While graphically impressive, it just doesn't do enough to justify the price. On the flip-side, The Lab was a great free inclusion with the Vive. 'Destroyed my arm shooting so many arrows!
Idk how long ago you played larcenauts but 2024 they've patched the issues you talked about, it's a pretty fun game nowadays
I may be in the minority, but I loved the Medal of Honor campaign!
To be fair, you're not in the minority. It's rated close to 4 stars on Meta, which is by no means bad. It had a lot of bugs and could have been better in some spots, but also had a lot of good aspects, too. It offered a long campaign and a decent amount of content. I got it on sale for around $30 USD and to be honest, I can't complain,
It was good, however it had a rocky start and suffered from problems in its storytelling. The beginning of the game felt like it was going to be a short experience, but later levels opened up and felt like a classic medal of Honor game. But I will say the weakest element of the game was the story and presentation. It felt like WW2 presented by Disney. Not what Medal of Honor was known for. I really wanted a MOH Allied Assault for VR, but MOHVR was not that at all. On top of all that the 150gbs installation was absolutely rediculous. You had to dedicate a good chunk of drive space for the game and that download... Brutal. Lol
2:30 I frickin love this take
It’s weird how you take a dump on larcenauts, for the things they fixed almost immediately after the player base mentioned them and asked for them, and if you think that that game is something that can be done in flat screen, then you never played it to any skill level. There are multiple hidden game mechanics that you’re just not aware of. On top of that, it far outplays anything like onward, Pavlov, and other boring same old same old shooters you have praised. With even more unique and interesting mechanics. The graphics on onward have even dropped down to garbage on pc. While the graphics for Larcenauts are still pretty good for a quest game.
Took a drive by sht on a game he knows nothing about, for no reason. Ya wanna talk about a big fail. Now go ahead and delete these comments like you are known to do.
Onward, Pavlov, games like that. The interactions could be described in two minutes. The potential mechanics interactions, as well as passive abilities, in larcenauts, would take more than an hour to describe. Anyone can just pick up the game, but hidden tech is what makes the game interesting. No two fights are ever the same. Tons of tactics and techniques. Leading to high iq plays.
Remember when I said I like larcenauts
Stormland is finally back, btw!
Yup
Will this game ever make it to SteamVR? It looks fun, but wish it was on Steam.
@TheT0X1N you don't want to buy it from meta? It's never coming to steam.
You can play meta games on other headsets with revive
@@Gamingwithmatteo311 Nah, Im good. I only buy my games on Steam. There are rare occasions I will dip into other platforms, but it would have to be something I REALLY want to play. I have tried Revive in the past but with little success. I figured as much. After seeing its published by "Oculus" that means it will never make its way onto other platforms.
@@Gamingwithmatteo311 Don't know why my comment disappeared, but lets try it again:
Nah, Im good. I'd rather by my games on Steam. Occasionally I will dip into another platform, but that is very rare and its only when I REALLY want to play a game that's not on Steam. I have tried Revive in the past, but with little success. I bet the issues that I ran into were fixed and has a larger compatibility, but I just rather not have the hassle of installing that and installing Facebook/Meta spyware.
I figured as much as I did notice that the game is published by "Oculus" which means it will never release for other platforms.
Best vr game for me so far is definitely Ghosts of Tabor! didnt had such an addiction for a vr title ever yet! Played it like 400h already
Tabor is definitely the top shooter for me, haven't found any game with as good of gunplay mechanics.
I have my own top 3….. #1 PRO ERA 2. #2 BattleGlide #3 Bomber Drone. I could play these three games for days!
I have mixed feeling on MOH being on the list. It actually has fairly high reviews, although it was highly overrated in my opinion. But I didn't think it was terrible. The tried to mix up the up missions well enough, I just think the genre is a little tired after 25 years- everything starts to feel the same. The one thing that was a bit unforgivable was the amount of bugs and glitches. I only bought the game in late 2023 on sale and it's still riddled with them.
Asgard's Wrath 2 wasn't super impressive imo, they just dumped a lot of money into content and voice acting. The only VR-unique thing the game had was the solid combat, and it was satisfying to slice an enemy in half.
The motion cutscenes were also a failure, any VR dev should understand that by now.
I really wish they had utilized space warp to push the visual limits, especially since it isn't as dense as other games, so a lot less CPU strain.
I wish they had used it on Quest 2 at least. The performances during the last part makes it simply unplayable. I don't really like ASW, but at least it's playable and doesn't make me sick. Still better than the game running below 60FPS.
I think when it comes to esports NOCK should get more credit.. ive dumped countless hours into that game. Its an absolute masterpeice of a vr sport
Aww, you got me on that one. I watched this whole video thinking YES, finally some honest calling out disappointing titles... and it's really just a promo piece for the Ghost of Asgard's Wrath.
I'm gonna just skip to the end from now on.
Won't get fooled again. 🤫
Ghost of asgards wrath, what? It's also not any type of promotions piece
Much as I disliked the headset, I have to agree that, when it comes to what the Oculus/Meta Quest headsets did and continue to do for VR and its growth, nothing can beat them. Yet.
Myself, I loved my original Quest and might still be using it--but for the Pico 4.
While it is by no means the "best", of VR headsets, thanks to its lack of depth in passthrough (which is otherwise amazingly clear), it's limited games store and, well, US politics, once I got the issues with the facial interface worked out, it was and still is one of my favorite headsets, even though the Quest 3 now surpasses it when it comes to visuals.
I am SOOO disappointed that ByteDance has canceled the Pico 5--and expecially the rumored Pico 5 Pro. I might actually have preordered one, and I try NEVER to preorder anything.
Mind, I also really like the Quest 3, even if I can't use the passthrough at 120hz without getting dog-sick. Likewise, though my hatred of Meta's in-Home avatars runs deep and true, when it comes to standalone visuals, the Quest 3 is not only excellent, but, even at $500/$650, it's a great value, particularly in light of the company's excellent record for releasing continuous updates.
Game-wise, yes, "Asgard's Wrath 2" is definitely one of the best things that standalone VR has, with "Halflife: Alex" still being the best of made-for VR in PCVR--and let's not forget "Gran Turismo 7" in PSVR2. If I'm going to pick a favorite among the best of the "only in VR" rhythm games, I have to--just barely--give the win to "Pistol Whip", with "SynthRiders" gripping its coattails, hard.
Honestly, I've always found "Beat Saber" kind of... boring. And I say this as person who not only has quite a few rhythm games, but who plays them--for fun and for exercise--more than anything else with the limited time I have to be in VR these days.
Oh, and the awards for best boxing game EVER, and the most underpriced game in VR for the hours of fun you can get, still and definitely goes to "Thrill of the Fight".
The only other thing I'll say about this excellent video, sir, is that, when it comes to "Echo VR", all good things didn't just "come to an end"... those good things got murdered by Meta... shortly followed by them laying off almost everyone who was part of Ready At Dawn, once they bought them out.
I didn't even play the game, but the callous way that Meta treated Echo VR's fanbase (and, by extension, all Meta VR users, since the message behind their words was quite clear, in a not at all good way) still pisses me off.
Ghosts of Tabor is a success story worth mentioning.
Maybe to early
worst vr mechanics you could have easily put firewall ultra on psvr2. ads shooting and one button reload instead of doing it the breachers way where you put a new magazine in.
Ugh. I was so disappointed by the cosmos release. I didnt end up getting one.
Moh was one of my favorite vr games
I quite enjoyed Medal of Honor, personally.
Can you put the name of the game somewhere on the video? Sometimes hard to hear or know how it is spelled.
I normally do, sorry
@@Gamingwithmatteo311 thanks, great video though!
The pimax portal vr disappoint me this year
