I carry my bike with a hitch carrier too, but I would rethink your foot peg strap. If it slips off the side of the “rack”, your bikes going to fall off. I’d suggest some form of pin system to hook to your pegs or maybe something that will prevent your strap from slipping off

At 4:35 it seems like you’re describing cutting it from the underside and then opening it up, instead of cutting out a triangle from the top side and closing it up. Which wouldn’t need the extra piece on the outside.
